You should be, it's avery very good phone and ridiculous value for money. I got my wife this model and she absolutely loves it. She's not a gamer but is forever on facebook and Words With Friends and the battery lasts easily 2 days

Just been looking into this - biggest killer for me is the lack on fast charge :disappointed: Plus the camera could be better. Still seems great at the price point, but not for me...

To be honest, with battery life this long fast charge is irrelevant for most users. Even with massively heavy usage this phone will easily last a full day. Simply charge it overnight. Job done.

It's a bit cheaper on Gearbest for international model 4GB memory 64GB storage
I bought one a few days ago for £123 with a discount code I found
It has the faster Helio X20 processor rather than the Snapdragon 625

read about the differences here gizmochina.com/201…ed/

After experiencing a MTK chip in my elephone p6000 (granted not the same chip) it's Qualcomm all the way for me. The MTK version of this phone is cheaper than the SD625 version everywhere.

Gold is always the cheapest option but we've housed my wife's in a MOFI Flip Case and applied a coloured tempered glass screen protector on it. Voila, not Gold anymore! About 7/8 quid all in. Plus you really should use a case and tempered glass protector on these phones because Xiaomi are very vague about the glass the screen is made from...

I've ordered lots of stuff from there and only one item didn't arrive. Made a claim direct to aliexpress and they agreed a full refund in a matter of hours. They don't release the funds to the seller until you have confirmed receipt.

very tempted. it does not have NFC which is a pain. does this have the correct band for 3 and EE networks? need to upgrade my one+1..LOL...yeah I know, old but still going strong. this does not have a sd card slot does it though? the global version gets updates via OTA?

basicvally what I want to know is can I use this out of the box or will I have to upload a custom rom or something?

thanks

I use mine on 3 (it does have Band 20) and it's been fine - 4G everywhere I'd get 4G with my old Sony. It does have a micro SD slot (it can take a micro + a nano SIM *OR* a micro SIM + a microSD card).

I've had a few updates to MIUI so far, apparently MIUI9 is coming out soon (the beta version is out).

I'm extremely happy with mine, battery life is the best part. I sat on the sofa one Saturday afternoon playing Eternal (nerdy card game), tinkered with the phone loads during the day, went to bed in the evening and the phone still had 40% charge. It's rare I go to bed with it any less than 50%. It's great for the games I tend to play, I've not tried anything heavy & 3d but Hearthstone, Eternal, Peggle etc run flawlessly.

The only negative I have about the phone is the camera, it's not the greatest but it takes good snaps as long as the lighting is decent.

So no temptation to flash a custom ROM for me, not until Xiaomi stop pushing out updates for it, at least.

Works perfectly fine for me on the EE network. Yes it has a double slot for 2 sim cards or 1 sim and 1 sdcard.
Mine worked straight out the box and gets regular updates.
Highly recommend this phone...

Very decent phone all round but the killer for me was the quality of the camera, i found it very poor, after the reviews i read of the camera i expected it to be somewhat decent

i have an iphone 5s and it wasnt even near the quality of that.....

also make sure to use a screen protector... screen... smash... sad :disappointed:

Can anyone recommend something in the similar range with a better camera?
bellboys to markmulv
29 Aug 17 #28
The default camera pic quality is set to normal when you get the phone. Simply go into camera settings and check the high quality box and the camera performs much better. Not an iphone beater by any means but pretty decent.

Bought from AliExpress almost 40 business days ago, equivalent to 2 months. Not received. I can apply for a refund on Thursday so hopefully it will be a trouble free process! Ended up getting an s7 edge instead due the £27 pm 8gb deal on here.

I do however, now have 2 really nice looking cases for this Xiaomi phone, and 2 screen protectors. If anyone would like them, free of charge, I will post them for you. I'll cover postage. Throw a bit of good Karma back out there to someone.

P.M me. *offer now taken up by one lucky forum user!*

Mine got pickpocketed yesterday from Notting hill carnival.

And i managed to get it for £125 a few months back. -- Now everywhere i look its £150 minimum (Black version) - So i decided id buy the 3gb/32gb for £115 from Gearbest (With voucher)

still.. i feel like i'm giving up 4gb ram and a bit of storage, - Will i notice a difference?

If getting cases and screen protectors for this phone, look for "Redmi Note 4X" instead. Don't get any that just say "Redmi Note 4" unless it specifies Global Version. Redmi Note 4 Global Version is Snapdragon with an updated housing but searching for "Redmi Note 4" will bring up original China version results which is Mediatek with slightly different housing, therefore won't be the correct fit for Global Version RN4

For added confusion, the Redmi Note 4X 64GB can be either Mediatek or Snapdragon. If any listings happen to have separate options for 32GB Note 4X and 64GB Note 4X, then it means the 64GB is Mediatek, therefore choose 32GB Note 4X even though this is the 64GB Global Version. In most cases though, Redmi Note 4X means Snapdragon fitment, therefore correct for this phone. These images may help explain:

IIRC the Note 3 actually increased in price when the Note 4 came out! Probably down to what many people thought was a bit of downgrading on the SOC (SD650 to SD625). Similarly, the downgrade on the Note 5 would appear to be the battery size. I personally wouldn't bank on it being a whole lot cheaper than it is now but only time will tell.

29 Aug 17 #39
Here we are again discussing pros and cons of this great value phone
I though I will contribute too.

I wasn't convinced at the beginning, but I went ahead and replaced my Nexus with Note 4 3GB/32GB Global version.
I got it from Aliexpress, Xiaomi store, standard free shipping, no tax.

My impressions from day to day medium to heavy use:
Build quality - nothing to complain about. Nicely finished matt metal body. Great colours and sharpness on neutrally calibrated 1080p screen. Buttons and ports feel solid. I don't use screen protector and after 3 months of normal handling i have no scratches on the glass.

Processing speed - I haven't noticed any slowness and I've thrown a lot on it. It can handle Football Manager 2017 with good speed and that requires a lot of processing power. Remember, this is £130 phone we're talking about

Battery - normal use = 2 days. I charge it overnight and when in the car. It's the first smartphone I ever had that doesn't put me in panic mode when battery saver switches on. This just means that you have half a day left.

Camera - it's average. Good results in good light. I found that with OpenCamera app on Google Play, with jpeg set to highest quality, the results seem to be better than from stock camera app.

MIUI - really nice version of Android, with extra features on top of stock operating system. So far I've only found them useful and I haven't found anything that I regret it's there.

Things that you won't get:
NFC - really annoying as I've used this a lot with Nexus. Can't have everything for £130 though
Fast updates - Xiaomi takes time to update their phones, but Nougat is here and I'm using it. No issues to report.

Word of advice:
If you get one, I strongly recommend adjusting default aggressive power management.
it will kill apps in the background and clear cache when phone is locked.
I found it an issue when using Spotify in the car.

Settings / Battery / Power/ Cog wheel /
Set Clear Cache when locked to Never

Settings / Battery / Manage apps battery usage
Set to Off

Hopefully you find some of it useful.

I bought this in black for £128 from Geekbuying (may have been a misprice), To be honest, I still prefer the old Lenovo K3 Note, which is a shame, as I was encouraged to buy because of the children's good reviews of the 3S and 3 note global versions.

It really just doesn't feel right for some reason......... I'll wait until MIUI 9 comes out and decide if I should go back to the K3 Note (as none 4G, even with HSPA+ I was getting 17-20 Mbs)

Looks a lot of phone for the money, but ordering from AliExpress (like any other Chinese importer) doesn't fill me with confidence if there is a problem.

No NFC makes Android Pay out of the question as well as tapped pairing with my other NFC devices.

But I could forgive all that if the Camera and Video capture were good as these are vital. And I'm not seeing stellar reviews for those.

Also GPS issues after Nougat update and call quality issues are a concern as people have mentioned on other threads.

With all that missing....why do people rave about these so much ?

You are right. I actually have DSLR camera but this camera in Pixel XL was probably the best camera in smart phone for still photography and i am saying this after using many latest smart phones i.e s7 edge, s8, HTC 10. I was hesitant to sell it only for camera . Battery is as good as i was getting on s7 edge and redmi note 3 ..But then pixel has no sdcard, no mircacast support to cast mobile screen on tv, no IR blaster and redmi screen is very bright even at 40 percent brightness so overall redmi note 3/4 are great budget phones with exception of average or rather poor camera

I am not saying redmi note 4 is poor device. Its probably same with slightly lower processor/GPU and since redmi note 3 snapdragon is here for a while thats why there are plenty of Custom ROMs to choose from if you get bore with stock

here is benchmark performance reviews

Dave, it's less than 140 quid. Try buying what you require from a UK-sourced phone for twice the price if you can. I'm probably not the best person to ask this question as I'm a rabid anti-Sony mobiles poster due to their rip-off prices. So, clearly i would choose the Redni Note 4 every day of the week. "Almost new condition"? So you bought two 2nd hand non B20 RN3 Pro's from eBay for around the standard price of a brand new 3/32GB B20 Redmi Note 4 Global Version? How does that mean it's cheaper? Even when they were readily in stock, £110 would have been the standard price for the 2/16GB RN3 Pro.

The Global Versions are not made for China Market. They will have different packaging, bands, charger etc and will be factory sealed with with Global ROM pre-installed. The Indian RN4 isn't even made in China. Printed on the back of India RN4 retail box<. Similarly the Redmi Note 4 Global Version is made for Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia markets. The Redmi Note 3 Special Edition was specifically a Taiwan Market release. Not all Redmi Notes are coming from China.

You took my comment on your heart. I dont mind second hand if they look like new with all accessories and work as attended . It will be much cheaper now if someone could get it and band 3 is working fine for me on 3 ..You are free to pick redmi note 4 if you love it with this passion
dreadzone101
30 Aug 17 #79
Your initial comment said Redmi Note 3 is "better and cheaper". Notice how I didn't dispute which is better? That is subjective. I was asking where it is cheaper. You are misinterpreting why I am mentioning B20. I was trying to compare like for like. The equivalent to RN4 Global Version is the RN3 Special Edition, which as I said is difficult to find. A 2nd hand non B20 RN3 Pro isn't necessarily a cheaper and 'better' alternative. Also see here< I am using an older RN2 which also lacks B20 and I'm on Three so I'm aware it would work fine. "It will be much cheaper now if someone could get it" That's not really the case though? That's the point I'm trying to make...

Easy way of putting MIUI developers ROM which is based on Android Nougat 7.0 (a much better than official one).

Alternatively,if you are looking to install other non Mi ROM check XDA website forum.xda-developers.com/red…ent , plenty of guides how to do it .You will have to request the bootloader to be unlocked first via Xiaomi web, then install recovery (twrp or red wolf recovery project), then ROM and other things like gapps, root or whatever else you may need.

I do really recommend installing the developer ROM as all custom ROMs are still in beta stage too and are far from being perfect(yellowish flashlight, random reboots etc.)The developers ROM also have its issues but does not require unlock, it's officially supported and updated on a weekly basis.

It is a seriously good handset, well worth the money. Xiaomi's ambissions to conquer the massive Indian market helps to keep the prices low. Also, unlike many other Chinese manufacturers they seem to understand that aftermarket support is important and must be provided.
Even though Xiaomi is not the quickest to address the issues but they clearly do work on it and constantly improve.

I don't think that even the AliExpress case link would fit either. Sometimes sellers will put a number of devices in the title and then have multiple selectable options in the listing itself. That listing appears to be for Redmi Note 4 only. So maybe at one point there was Redmi Note 4X option or else the title is incorrect. The thing to look out for is to top edge. If it has a hole in the middle, it's for the Redmi Note 4. That's where the IR blaster used to be, but it moved over to the right side, in the Snapdragon model.

If you want a rugged case then perhaps this: aliexpress.com/ite…tml If you scroll down to the description, the first image will show that top edge doesn't have hole in the centre and the selectable options are only for Redmi Note 4X. Sometimes for multiple options listings, it'll just use images for one model, even though it has options for other models so images aren't always enough to go by. For example this listing: aliexpress.com/ite…tml shows that it has the hole in the centre but has separate selectable options for Redmi Note 4X and even 'Note 4 Global', which *should* be a different fitment than what is depicted in the listing itself.

I have had this phone for around 3 months now.

For the price it is very good, on one proviso, you don't get a phone with the "noise cancellation microphone" bug. My partner didn't and hers is spot on.

I did. It means when you make a phone call your voice sounds muffled/underwater to the person on the other end. There are two fixes for it. 1 is to adjust the 'google ok' settings on the phone and reboot daily (this didn't work on mine). The other is to place a bit of tape over the noise can. mic. (top left of phone) - this did work. They have been meant to fix it with each subsequent release of the MIUI version; I'm on the latest (8.5.4.0) and it's still not fixed.

Just google: "redmi note 4 noise cancellation microphone" or "redmi note 4 muffled voice" to see all the people affected. There are lots! I have trawled the MIUI forums for a fix, but a bit of tape is as good as it gets for now. It's also not limited to the note 4, and people have been crying out for a fix to the developers for years for it on the MIUI forums (earliest reports I can trace to 2015 and the note 2). It's a deal breaker for me...

It's possible rooting your phone may fix the issue... have seen a lot of reports of success with this - I'm lazy and have stuck with my trusty bit of tape for now :worried:

Can anyone point me in the direction of an easy rooting/ flashing lineage rom guide for this phone that perhaps they may have followed.

30 Aug 17 #92
Search for the issues and you will see. But here's just 2 examples;

c.mi.com/thr…tml

c.mi.com/thr…tml

You might be fine, doesn't mean there are not issues with this phone and it's not £100, it's nearer £140. And £500 saving? This is not a top end smartphonem it's a 625 Snapdragon mid range phone with a 1080p screen, at the most, you're saving £100 against a phone with full UK support if it goes wrong.

Really, if you think this compares to a phone worth £650 then you are too much of a fanboi to listen to.

Oh and the point of having a decent camera on a phone is to not have to carry a camera around with you everywhere. The best photo is one you have a camera to capture with.

From the tone of your other comments it seems like you've already made up your mind about RN4 so this might be a rhetorical question but I'll try to answer from a price standpoint. The 3/32GB black RN4 Global Version is £113 @ Gearbest so using £150 as the price isn't an even comparison when it's 4/64GB whilst the Xperia X is 3/32GB. You mentioned a £229 price match. Not sure if that's because of the recent Argos price but they're both £300 at the moment. Even if it is £229, that's still quite a price disparity. You'd essentially be paying twice the cost (or more) for the benefit of 2 years warranty + NFC whilst sacrificing a lot of battery life (GSMArena 67h Xperia X endurance rating vs 119h RN4). You can highlight other advantages of Xperia X as justification but in my opinion, it wouldn't be worth the difference.

30 Aug 17 #96
My bad £112 then because that's what I paid. And I'm no fan boy, only had 1 xiaomi device and imo it's brilliant.
There are issues with every single phone that gets released... Course this is going to have issues but I don't care when it cost £100...

Iv paid so much for phones in the past. £45 a month contracts for 2 years over and over again. Had them all. Samsung, HTC, iPhone, Sony. HTC by far the worst even when something went wrong what did buying in the UK do for me? They just palmed me off n told me to take it to the shop I purchased.. Which was CPW and guess what they did? Told me to ring HTC... Ended up ringing my insurance.

Of course it doesn't compare to the new flag ships.. But check out some YouTube videos of this phone keeping up with the likes of Samsung s7's and s8's.. Its madness that it cost a quarter of the price.

And the camera... It's not the best.. I don't mind that. Your the one complaining it's rubbish.. It wouldn't be this price if they put a decent camera in also...
Please link me a phone with spec as good as this with a better camera, nfc, and uk support.

My experience with the 3GB/32GB using MIUI official based on Android 7
has some idosyncracies:

1. while taking call on headset, call volume cannot be lowered less than 20% total volume. Had headphones half in half out.
2. unplugging headset, the mobile still thinks the headset is connected. (occassionally, but reboot sorts it out. Others have reported this issue)
3. pluggging headset, the mobile still uses the speaker. (occassionally, but reboots sorts it out)
4. using fiddles to get Google Assistant to work, nevertheless, I am unable though to send SMS txts handsfree via Assistant.
5. MIUI seems to kill apps.

Its not all roses and the quirkiness does inspire me to get a UK-based mobile.

Word of warning if you intend using this phone for roaming in Europe. I have been using this phone for the past couple of months and it has been fantastic. However since the recent software update to version 8.5.4.0, I have been unable to connect to data whilst roaming in Europe. Due to my business I am back and forth on a weekly basis and this only started after the update. The sim works in my spare phone so nothing to do with that. Hopefully they will release an update to overcome the problem. Otherwsie I will need a dummy's guide on how to install the previous software version.

If this were the 4X edition SD625/4GB RAM/64GB, I would be a little tempted.

The camera sensor (Samsung ISOCELL) on the Redmi Note 4 is poor. Also the Sony IMX 258 sensor on the 4X is great for stills but it real disappoints when it comes to video recording (that is another con for me).

For those who carry a DSLR with them anyway or are simply not fussed about camera quality then this is a good buy. Good battery life, good build, great audio jack output.

Also for those who would like to milk out as much quality as they can from the camera, then definitely install OpenCamera from the PlayStore and also the new ported Google Camera: xda-developers.com/goo…ed/ which should be compatible on SD625 Redmi Note 4.

So you're saying that Note 4X = Sony IMX whereas Redmi Note 4 = Samsung ISOCELL but in your comment here< you said you can't be certain which camera you get, even for the Note 4X? As you stated in your previous comment, it can be either Samsung or Sony on both the RN4 SD and RN4X: en.miui.com/thr…tml So I'm not sure why you're going against what you had said previously? Techtablets RN4 Global Version unboxing< @5:20 shows that theirs was Sony IMX and then they state that their Note 4X was Samsung.

Incidentally, fairly easy to check who makes the camera in your Redmi Note 4.

Just checked ours and it's the Sony imx258 sensor. Kimovil suggest this is the same sensor as used in the LG G6 - surely that can't be right...can it?

kimovil.com/en/…258

Edit: just checked and the LG G6 uses TWO imx258 sensors.
Kei1
30 Aug 17 #110
I didn't contradict myself. That's correct, you can't be certain which sensor you'll be getting. If you read around, some people with the 4X have Samsung on both rear and front. But what I implied was that you're more likely to get the Sony sensor if you go for the 4X.
It's literally a lottery in the camera department for this phone, but what one can almost be certain is you'll likely get the Sony sensor on the rear on the Note 4X, and Samsung sensor on both on the Note 4. Note the emphasis on the likely.
dreadzone101
31 Aug 17 #111
"The camera sensor (Samsung ISOCELL) on the Redmi Note 4 is poor. Also the Sony IMX 258 sensor on the 4X is great for stills". How do you expect anyone to interpret that as an implication that Sony IMX on Note 4X is "more likely"? Also how did you conclude it is more likely on Note 4X but not Note 4 SD? As shown in the thread in my previous comment, there are plenty of people saying their Note 4X is Samsung. Did you tally up the 22 pages of comments on that thread and discover more than half said Sony? The Note 4X can also have Omnivison: en.miui.com/thr…tml If you search "Note 4 Omnivision" you'll see only Note 4X threads. So Note 4X with the possibility of 3 different cameras is somehow more likely to have Sony IMX than the RN4 SD? Can you find many incidences where someone specifies they have the RN4 SD (not Note 4X), and that is has Samsung sensor or are you concluding the RN4 = Samsung because that's what the original Mediatek uses?

31 Aug 17 #114
Ah, I thought what I'd ordered (4GB/64GB) was called a 4X, but it appears to be called a "Note 4 Global" on the order.
So in your link there, the "Redmi Note 4 Global" would be the one to choose, in that case? (no pun intended!)

For £1.96 that would be a good deal if so! BTW, just looked at the listing for this phone. They've been selling an average of 43 a day for the last 6 months. Seems quite popular!

What would be better this or ASUS Zenfone Zoom ZX551ML 4GB/64GB 2.3GHz -White - £112.99 @ eGlobalcentral?
dreadzone101
31 Aug 17 #116
Yeah, this is called Redmi Note 4 Global Version but basically it's Redmi Note 4X in terms of housing (usually). Due to the name, most people will just search "Redmi Note 4", which would be for older Mediatek housing but this is Snapdragon like Note 4X, hence searching for "Redmi Note 4X" instead. Not because this model is called Note 4X but because it shares the same housing.

For that case, the Note 4X option is likely the exact same but Note 4 Global would be the one to choose since it's there. Here's another listing for the same case<. In the description they distinguish the 2 different types but still have separate options for many that they point out as being the same type. So the different options are sometimes just there to help people select the right one.
Kei1
31 Aug 17 #117
Sheesh, are you a detective or a prosecutor or something? I'm only basing my views on the searches I've done with Google. My findings were that people were quite unhappy to find a mixture of camera sensor in the same model.
Obviously as everyone knows we all don't go out and carry out impirical or statistical studies on smartphones unless one works for a smartphone manufacturer.

Hopefully you're not asking me to publish a paper backing my every opinion and review of a product.

So yes, I'm more or less generalising, from the comments I've found from Google, and most people have said the 4X has the Sony sensor. Although probably, Xiaomi may have changed their batches by now so the difference in the camera department or at least the model differences are becoming less obvious, I.e. the 4X model may well disappear. Anyway, I'm basically disappointed with the fact that you can't be certain on the sensor you're getting.
dreadzone101
31 Aug 17 #118
So I'm a detective or a prosecutor for disagreeing with your comments and providing reasons why? My point is that your initial comment suggests RN4 = Samsung whereas RN4X = Sony, which is misleading to others. You then stated you were implying it was more likely, therefore I asked how. You're now saying you're generalising and basing it off your own searches but seem to disregard my findings which say the opposite? "I'm basically disappointed with the fact that you can't be certain on the sensor you're getting". Then why state you'd be tempted if this was Note 4X? To me, your initial comment clearly implied there was a definite difference between this RN4 Global Version and the RN4X hence my reply to clarify that isn't the case.

The Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon launched in India approx 1 month before it came to China as Redmi Note 4X. Due to this many sites that comment on the differences in camera are speaking about Snapdragon vs Mediatek, not RN4 vs RN4X so I can't see how you're concluding "most people have said the 4X has the Sony sensor" especially when people who speak of Samsung sensor disappointment are speaking about RN4X due to expectations that RN4 Snapdragon = Sony.
gsmarena.com/xia…php
"Here’s an interesting note - the Redmi Note 4 that is powered by a Snapdragon 625 used a Sony IMX 258 sensor (13MP/1.12µm) while the MediaTek-powered model from China used a Samsung S5K3L8 ISOCELL sensor (13MP/1.12µm)."
dreadzone101
31 Aug 17 #119
Tried looking into this a bit more but can't find anywhere that suggests Note 4X is more likely to have Sony IMX. The earliest incidences I can find of people noticing Samsung with Snapdragon, was on Note 4X rather than Note 4 SD: en.miui.com/for…485. The 2 following comments then show 1 person has Note 4X with Samsung, but the other has Note 4 SD with Sony, which is what Techtablets got as well. So I'll ask the same thing in a previous comment: "Can you find many incidences where someone specifies they have the RN4 SD (not Note 4X), and that is has Samsung sensor". RN4 SD actually seems more likely than RN4X to have Sony IMX. Very few (if any) comments of people saying RN4 SD with Samsung whereas RN4X has had multiple people saying Samsung or Omnivision as well as Sony.

The Z5 has a 2900 mAh battery coupled with a SD 810 SOC whereas the Redmi Note 4 has a 4100mAh battery coupled with a far more efficient SD 625 SOC. Not rocket science to tell which will have the better battery life...

3 charges a day?? Crikey. I read a review of the Z5 by trustedreviews which stated Sony's claims for battery life tend to fizzle out a after a few months of use. Maybe fast charging mobile batteries has a detrimental effect on longevity similar to ordinary rechargeable batteries? No idea.

With regards to getting charges opt for the free delivery option and you would be very unlucky to get stung. No guarantees though.

In GSMArena's battery endurance tests, Xperia Z5 = 48h< whereas Redmi Note 4 = 119h<. Their tests don't necessarily equate to actual everyday usage so it can differ due to many variables, but in theory you'd get over twice the battery life.

Next question (sorry) this video suggests an Antutu of 59500 for the 3GB 32GB model & a couple of places suggest that the Helio X20 version can beat that by 25000 (getting on for 85K). Do you happen to know the Antutu of this 4GB model?

Actually I had one more go & found my answer: around 62200. So the 4GB ram doesn't make much difference in the benchmark... now many will say that 4GB is overkill & this is not a surprise, while others will eulogise about Android's memory management & how it will use it cleverly to keep a lot in memory so that it is available like lightening! For me the thinking is 32GB vs 64GB - with a 32GB I would likely want the headroom of an SD card, while with 64GB I would be happy - effectively meaning that the 64GB is dual sim, where (because I'd need to use sim 2 as an SD slot) the 32GB is not. Now £30 for that...
bellboys
1 Sep 17 #137
I completely 'get' your reasoning for going for the 64GB version. It's well worth the premium over the 32GB version imo. My wife has the 64GB version and finds she hasn't got to worry about putting on the phone basically everything she wants. It makes the whole mobile-owning experience remarkably stress-free....
jnm21
2 Sep 17 #138
If only I could like that twice - I had a warm 'yep I know exactly what you mean' nod reading it! Bit like the difference between the 'set free' feeling moving from the G2 to the G3 - beats me why they ever make no-sd card phones! The dual sim or SD is silly enough! Does it really save that much space/cost?

Dual SIM use: When two SIM cards are used simultaneously, the primary SIM can support 4G+/ 4G / 3G / 2G calls and data while the secondary SIM can support 3G calls only.

It's 4G+3G, rather than 4G+2G so dual Three SIMs would work.

This happens with headset and without. This minimum volume is still too loud on headset for me.
Is it just my unit?

Mine's still on a plane from China, after three days, that's one slow plane!

Think you're right, I listen to radio while falling asleep and find that can be to loud also, everything or nothing at lower end of volume

And, it can be tracked on Royal Mail's "Track and Trace."

Look's like I'll get it before Christmas after all :sunglasses:

Did you order it via the tracking option?
hull1270
21 Sep 17 #182
Don't think so, just standard, cheapest delivery. The tracking number from Aliexpress.com works with Royal mail.
Hopefulgirl123
22 Sep 17 #183
DW they only update the tracking info every 3 days or so.

Mines reached 'shipping destination' yesterday but still needs to be sorted and go through customs I would imagine

Just got mine yesterday but I hate the miui. Is it just me missing the whole android experience?
I used to be able to (on my wileyfox swift phone) quick reply to texts and WhatsApp messages from the notification panel which I can't do anymore. I also can't split screen and multitask on this miui.
Plus why is it trying to be so much like an iOS interface? I like having an android feel to my phone

Have you installed a launcher. Can't live without nova

Got my phone in 2 weeks. Very happy with the service from AliExpress and the seller. no custom charged and very well packaged. Came with screen protector and transparent cover. Phone is top notch. For £148 it is a real steel. Sealed box and ready to go. No Chinese apps or custom rom. Doesnt seem cheap at all. Very well-built and looks beautiful in black. Definitely faster than my old LG G4 and the battery is amazing. Mi software is also quite good and intuitive - though agree with above user that it is quite similar to iOS. Had an issue or 2 with Gmail not syncing and Female for English notification but both solved after Googling. Using Nova launcher so that is quite helpful. Only thing I thought it will come preloaded with Android 7 (Nougat) but it is still on 6. I am hoping it will get an update soon. Cant understand people still buying Samsungs Sonys Apples when you are getting so much value with Redmi. First time for me with Chinese phone and I am already impressed. Hope it will last at least a yr as the only main issue is the warranty

Well I need some advice. Gearbest have messed up my order and saying the redmi 3 discontinued. They are offering me a redmi note 4 in exchange.

Can anyone give me some pointers on which version so it works with the ee and three networkd in uk.

25 Sep 17 #190
I have a Redmi Note 4 with both a EE and 3 sim in and they both work fine. It's the Global Editon from Aliexpress.

Well, it took just 29 days to arrive, will never use this particular store in the future. No problem with the phone but but the supplied cover is pathetic, true Chinese rubbish, need to look for a better option.
Btw back camera sensor on ours is s5k3l8 so inferior Samsung

Well, now I know why the image quality is so poor. Really the only downside of this phone, but what a downside!
Really, really poor low light - lots of images very badly blurred too. Also, lots of pixel artefacts... having come from an Honor 7 where photo taking was a joy with stunning images, this is a real let down if you get the Samsung sensor.

Which is a real shame, because in all other respects, this is a superb phone.
