On sale at Amazon, with Prime delivery available. Great quality camera. Been using one to monitor the front of my house for a year or so, connected via my Synology NAS. Lovely wide angle view and excellent quality image during the day or night. Going back for another at this price.

Just to add that Foscam have messaged me to say that they had 700 pcs going to Amazon (plus another 100), for some reason only 380pcs were booked in and they are awaiting the other 320pcs which should hopefully be the next day or so, as well as the additional 100.

Can this be used just as a monitor on a screen such as smartphone and not store footage?

Yes, I use mine as a baby monitor and could view it through an app called TinyCam Monitor.
You could install this app on any android device.
There are plenty of apps that support Foscam. I also have an app installed on an iPad and IP Camera Viewer installed on a pc.

It's the same for me, all works well, but when not in the browser it fails to follow any motion detection rules. I read somewhere that it works OK with FTP to another location, but not so when SD card. Definitely a bug.
The other thing is there are now a few versions of this C1, I am using V3 delivered by Amazon, and the firmware for this is different, so perhaps they have forgotten to correct it for this firmware.
The quality of the camera and the angle is very good, I would have been very happy keeping the product otherwise.

Motion detection looking through glass working and also recording to SD card, also getting snapshot alerts to email, brilliant! Here's the problem, it only does all this when I have the app or browser open. Once closed, nothing. Anyone else experienced the same ?
FatherTed to dealtime
10 Aug 17#78
Yes I've had this and it's a widely reported issue on the Foscam forums.
It makes the camera a bit useless for security purposes as you have to have a computer on the whole time with the browser open so mine's going back to Amazon for a refund sadly.

Seriously, it only works when a browser is open? That's totally rubbish. Did it operate this way with the original firmware or only when you updated it?
FatherTed to dewonderful

Motion detection only works with a browser open. By the time I got it working at all I had already upgraded to the latest firmware.
I tried a factory reset but that didn't make a difference.

As mentioned by Father Ted, when you setup it updates to latest firmware so cannot say how it would have worked on previous firmware. Am going to try a few more days else also going back to Amazon, not fit for my purpose.

Did you configure scheduled recording? Go to the IP address of the device, port 88 - Record/scheduled recording. Set the recording location to SD or FTP.

Yes but it's the motion capture recording that I want to use rather than constant or scheduled recording.

11 Aug 17#84
So under Action Detection, did you set the schedule (fill in the little red blocks) and save it?
I followed the instructions to record to SD card - foscam.com/Faq…tml but that only works with a browser open as reported on the Foscam support forums.

Thanks for the tips on using the application on the browser, have made some progress! I've got the email snapshot setup and it worked for a short while (detecting motion through glass), sending me an email with snapshots....but I think it only worked whilst the application on the laptop was open. As soon as I've closed it, it stopped sending...but am determined to get it sorted.
Have not got the recording to SD card working yet, though it is now recognised.

I paid around the £50 mark last year, they're rock solid little cameras. Tip, I dont know if its mentioned in the comments but update the firmware if you want the motion activated recording to work through glass - assuming your camera is on really old firmware it takes a PIR heat signature as well as video motion to trigger a recording, newer firmware's work on video only
dealtime to freakstyler
7 Aug 17#67
Can you please mention what the latest firmware is on yours? - It shows mine as current, but I dont see notification for motion working through glass - thanks.

System Firmware Version 1.9.3.17
Application Firmware
Version 2.52.2.37
Plug-In Version 3.3.0.26
I'm running both mine on
this version and both have no trouble being triggered through glass, one of
them is mounted in a dome camera enclosure outdoors and it also works through
the polycarbonate dome.
From what I remember you
had the option to set motion triggering with or without PIR in really early
versions but they removed the PIR function entirely in later revisions after
lots of complaints. Its the in-between
versions that don't work through glass, both mine received from Amazon last November
were shipped with this useless firmware.
dealtime to freakstyler
7 Aug 17#69
Thanks for replying, apparently my version is 1.12.3._2.82.2.29 according to the application and is currently up-to-date. Will keep trying to get the motion triggering to work. I've checked online and looks like there is a newer firmware, but the application doesn't show or allow me to upgrade.
I also have another issue, the camera refuses to recognise my SD card, a brand new 32gb sandisk. I've also formatted it but no luck.
freakstyler to dealtime
7 Aug 17#72
You're best off messing
around with settings through a browser on a desktop/laptop. Find the camera's IP address and put :88 at
the end of it. You're able to update
firmware manually, set recording parameters and have access to a host of
advanced settings. I must admit I avoid using the Foscam App for settings and
viewing live video, Owlr App is really good for live video viewing especially
if you have multiple cameras - its far more reliable too.
Most browsers have
disabled plug-in support for these cameras, cameras with newer firmware might
work but on mine I had to re-enable a few advanced browser settings to get them
to work. I've included links to articles
on both Chrome and Firefox on how to do this.
I only have 8GB cards in
my two cameras and they work fine with them, try a smaller card if you have one.

Well i'm on Amazon and I cannot find that page what reads " Order now due on Aug 8th.
Looks like another rebranded, generic camera. Each to their own. I personally prefer a brand that I know and have used many times such as Foscam. A few more (claimed - the specs are contradictory - 960P (1280*720)) vertical pixels won't make it a better camera.
If you find that one better design and quality for your needs, then go for it.

I bought a couple of those based on your link (thanks). They arrived today and having set them up they seem to work well. There motion detection sends me an alert on my phone so that I can immediately watch what's going on, and they can also record. You should be able to setup FTP using this guide: kb.netgear.com/238…ter - a non-static IP address shouldn't matter since it uses Dynamic DNS.
