An alternative is Dinner Time Plus which let syou restricts apps, lock the screen, monitor what they've been doing and are doing etc.

I've tried a few MDM (mobile device management) solutions but Netsanity (paid annually or monthly) looks like the one I'm settled on for my kids iOS device. You have to beware the apps that expect you to go through turning off all the settings you want to restrict yourself just to give you essentially a filtered browser. The proper MDM solutions install themselves as administrators on the device and allow you to do almost anything on an Android device and much more than you can do on an iOS device with just an app.
Of course, none of this is substitute for education, it's a safeguard.

I have an app called Screen time and love it although you have to pay something like £2.99/month, but it's well worth it to have control (you can see what apps they are using or even used and for how long and block the phones/tablets remotely say at dinner time).
Also you can give them tasks to earn extra time like clean your room and authorise it when it's done.
I think it also might be available for iOS
