I plumped for a refurb V6 Total Clean for £219 (with £50 off offer), from Dyson's eBay store, having just realised the pain that is figuring out which tools are or aren't interchangeable between all of the V6 models. Some of the V6 models are also available for a 'reasonable' price on the Dyson site, with approx. 1% TCB and Quidco.

The bin emptying is better on the V7/V8 so you have to decide if paying £50 for the V7 Motorhead is worth the extra.
