I only ever paid with paypal and have been asked - hell DEMANDED - to provide these personally-identifiable-information documents without due cause. Complained to one site (gaming dragons) who refunded the paypal payment, terminated the account and sent a terse refund notification. They REALLY want those documents - the identity theft market must be much more lucrative than their core business.

When It's only £3.74 on Steam! Why bother with sending ID!

The BFG version was £3.74 on Steam last month. The regular version (no DLC or Doom 1 and 2) is £3.99 on Steam?

Beware any firm demanding photo ID, passports, etc. - they have no way of verifying or validating what you send them as they don't have access to the necessary databases to perform these actions. I have directly challenged a number of firms on this - they're harvesting the data, the risks are enormous (identity theft is a significant risk as they often operate out of locations which little or no law enforcement or difficult extradition). The claim of "fraud prevention" is rubbish; it has no validity whatsoever. Note also that they don't do this until AFTER you've sent payment - another con is Gaming Dragons (aka UGK GAMES). It would probably breach either the existing DPA or the GDPR too; given that they have no reasonable reason to collect the data they can't ask for it (and you may be seen as negligent if you send it too, that's not been tested in court AFAIK though).

Yes agree, I bought this for my Rift and whilst I can't get that used to the movement (still feel a bit sick after a while), it's a great game in VR even for an older title.
amazing value. bought for a very similar price a few years ago. hours and hours of content.

What a joke this company is, created a new account, paid via paypal. But order put on hold until I provide a picture of a valid ID card showing my name as it is on Payal. With the letter IG next to the card.
Dont think so Instant gaming. Plus not very instant is it!!!!!!

I had this from cdkeys. It's so unprofessional. Especially after I did my bank additional security!

The irony about that is the key was probably stolen anyway.

They made out it was Paypal asking them for the details to prevent fraud. I have never been asked this before and I use Paypal on all my purchase which most are new accounts. Fraud on a £2.38 transaction!!

:joy: the only person they are "protecting" is themselves. Cdkeys said it was for my own security.... yeah ok my credit card and PayPal give me that security thanks. If you paid via PayPal the idea is they don't get your details

I haven't bought anything from cdkeys in a while but they never used to ask for ID. Do they do this to everyone now?

That was with my card, but I had to enter my nationwide account safety password etc when I paid, so this was completely unnecessary

ah OK I usually pay with paypal. I guess credit card scammers have been hitting them. At least they are not asking for photo id etc. Still I probably would have asked for a refund.

I'm playing it at the moment on my Rift. It's better than most games actually made for VR. Extremely impressive considering its a mod.
