Interesting... Ordered one. Got a lot of RF switches, so a good way to integrate them into the echo ecosystem. Also the ability to do some TV control by voice. £5.99 for the app is a bit cheeky though. Anyone know what the differences are between the free and pro versions?

You can't directly control RF with harmony, if it's just IR you're after, there is a much cheaper IR only Broadlink.

Yes this can be used with Alexa. You will need to purchase an app ( RM pro if memory serves me correctly) and ideally run it on a permanently on android box, set up with a static IP. I googled how to do all of this and it was simpler than it sounds. You program each device you wish to use but I've only found that you can trigger an action on our off. So if I want to switch the TV to channel 24 then it's Alexa turn channel 24 on etc. It works as an RF blaster to mimic remotes and also WiFi so I can also open and close my garage door. If you are willing to put the effort in then these are really good. Next on my list for my automated home are WiFi light switches. These will work out far cheaper than individual bulbs.

Wifi light switches/wall sockets. That's my preference rather than buying into limited life span bulbs. You then have choice of bulb style/fitment or even chandeliers.

If you're willing to put any effort in you really should be looking at Home Assistant now, they have Broadlink support and it's a lot more versatile than the old android route.
In fact it was one of these and a bunch of cheap RF sockets that got me into it and from then on your only limited by your imagination. I use mine directly with the HA front end, through Alexa and also my Harmony remote.
