I assume the light has to be on for the speaker to work. Which kind of ruins the idea of using for a babies room to play white noise.

No, the one I had, the light and sound were independently controlled via Bluetooth. Can't say whether a cheapo Aldi tat version would though, but I'd guess so.
Found it a pain to open the app every time I wanted the light on though.
£7 off aliexpress, though personally even as a fan of silly chinese gadgets I can't see why I would want this. 6w LED is not very bright for a room and the speaker is guaranteed to be dire unless you just want to listen to FM radio

Can someone tell them to stop now please. We are approaching Billy Connolly, "combined cigarette lighter and coat hanger" territory, if not already there.

As opposed to the ali express one, this one allows you to control both light and volume from the app. I wonder if it can be controlled by any of the home automation setups e.g openhab.
3 watts isn't that bad, a lot of mini bluetooth speakers used to be just 2 watts, but I guess you can't really expect a high quality.. so toilet might be ideal for this.
Imagine if you could enter the toilet and the light comes on according to the time of day, and sweet music could start playing to drown out any unfortunate sounds. Or alternatively, a pulsating red light with indeed a Muzac version of ring of fire...
I'm so tempted to buy this and keep it in a box somewhere in my house for a year or three.

I wonder how good this will sound in my 6 bulb holder chandelier? It wont be cheap but surely it will be real surround sound?

If you got the right shape lampshade it will amplify the sound a bit

I bought one this morning and ended up going back for another this afternoon! Ok quality but for the money and ease of use they're great. Also good when you get a text asthat pings through or music stops while you take a call and starts back up when you end the call. App is very easy to use. The disco light function isn't great but can choose a static colour of your choice.
