£900 is a bit steep for something without a 1060 imo, especially for an Acer.

Agreed. Also completely pointless having an i7 paired with such a weak GPU.

Yeah, why do manufacturers keep doing this...
They should drop the CPU to an i5 and boost the GPU to a 1060 - same price but you can now play everything at 1080p60 at Ultra.

Because the general public are oblivious to GPU performance apparently, they just see i7 and cream their little knickers.

I agree but it is also good pricing strategy, any PC gamer in the know (which I naively hope is most of the PC gamers) knows that GPU is the bottleneck when gaming. I would love it if they paired a 1080 with an I5 but why would they do that when they have a captive audience wanting that 1080 at any cost.

You can get some good alienware from dell outlet for this price with 1060 and 256 ssd. The screen on the dells are lot better than these

Would love to see an Alienware with a 1060 for £900...sorry but I've never seen one for less than a grand...

Not brand new but dell outlet. Most of the time they are good as new.

Best I've seen was a few weeks ago when Dell were offering 20% discount. Alienware 13 (so 13'' model) R3, i7 processor, 256GB SSD, 16GB ram, 6Gb 1060 GPU, 1080P screen, scratch and dent unit for £1015. Very nearly bought it but left it and now regretting not buying it now lol.
You're right though, if you time it right, there's some excellent deals on Dell outlet and most are simply customer returns. Bought a good number of laptops and desktops from there over the years and always been happy, especially with onsite warranty.

Majority of my gaming is done on 34" UW but I don't find 13" uncomfortable. I have had 5 hour+ sessions on 13" in one sitting and it was acceptable! The 13" is mainly for traveling so weight is the biggest factor.

Yes you are right about timing. I bought one yesterday for £875 inc vat with 15% student discount. Its 13", i5, 256ssd, 8GB and 1060 GPU. I think its good deal.
I was told by someone from dell chat, that they update their stocks normally around 2:45pm - 3pm UK time on weekdays. The one I bought only poped up at 3pm so he was right .

I’ve got this spec on my alienware and it’s great. I thought about a 1060, but if you’re that much of a gamer you should really have a desktop (I only have a laptop due to limited space/traveling a lot for work). This will do a good deal of people. Unsure on how well built these are to Alienware? I got a 15” for £896 and had a 60hz GSYNC on it as well.

One thing I will say to people who are buying new laptops in the price range £800 - £1000 is to check the screen even if its IPS. In my experience they are poor quality. The colors don't look right, the brightness is way off etc. I have checked number of screen from Acer, Hp, dell inspiron and Asus in that price range and hated the screen.

Drop the gaming from the description and you have a powerful laptop, not a gaming laptop. But for this price I would want a gaming laptop

I personally wouldn't risk this much on a Acer, I had a Acer gaming laptop about 6 years ago and the motherboard died after around 1 year of careful use ( always used on hard surfaces, not letting it cook itself on the couch etc ) luckily i had a awesome aftermarket warranty and they paid me what it was worth without much hassle. I've now got a lenovo laptop that has better specs than my acer and is on is 4 years old and running fine.

Acres are crap! My personal opinion based on experience there laptops feel cheap and flimsy. I would prefer a dell all day long.

it looks awesome, and in ultra settings too.
