Arr I see it records in 1, 3 or 5 minute chunks and there was me thinking it just kept one 5 minute recording!

Mine arrived on Weds, unboxed one last night but haven't had a play yet.

Looks fine, I've checked at home is it working or not. There is tv/usb cable included, recorded short video at home and video quality on my laptop looks good. Will check within few days in my car.
There is 5 minutes maximum loop recording so doesn't make sense to buy high capacity SD card.
There is possibility to move camera lense up or down but not left or right when mounted.

Today was first day with dash cam mounted in my car. Camera record every 5 minutes driving as a separate recording. After few hours driving had a lot of recordings.

5 minutes does not sound right... There must be another setting?

You may be right, I think the A119 turns both horizontal and vertical.

Bought similar to this off Amazon several weeks ago, excellent picture and east to put in a none eye line location (behind the rear-view mirror). Came with a rear-view camera as well. Have had the A118 non-capacitor version for a few years now and it's been running brilliantly off a 4port USB cig lighter adaptor, with the USB cable tucked behind the trim. Had a few close calls which were all recorded, good picture quality. Just bought this A118c now for the wife's car.

I'm guessing by looking at it that you can only swivel the lens up and down. Not left to right. So once the sticky pad is fitted to the windscreen swivelling up and down is the only option. :disappointed:

If they really wanted they could calculate your speed from the landmarks on the video. TBH I suspect they would only go to that much effort if it was clear you were travelling at excessive speed, but some people will go a long way to avoid responsibility (especially where money is involved).

To those who aren't familiar with dashcams, I would recommend buying a kit like this one and hardwire the dashcam into the fusebox(usually ignition live fuse with add-a-fuse). Very simple. Plenty of youtube how-to vids.

Sticky pad is the mount, you can still turn the lens when mounted or take it off the mount to turn it.

Hey there. Looks like a good product. But without sounding stupid how long is the cable on this? Is it long enough to plug it into the cigarette port? Would i have to run it through the top and side pillars? If i was to put on the rear? And even the front?

Haha, you underestimate how ruthless insurance companies are. I disabled GPS on my Nextbest dashcam for the same reason mind lol. Still, ordered one of these though :-)

Does this cause any interference with DAB radio, my current camera reduces my reception range when plugged in?

The GPS unit is separate and you don't get it with the standard A118C-2 you have to look for to see if its supplied where you are purchasing it from, generally if you find one with it you will know its a genuine Viofo as they are the only ones to bundle it within the same box as a set.

As it is a separate unit (which you attach via a 3.5mm jack) you don't need to attach it if you want, I haven't as my Mio 518 on the front has it built in but the camera unit is much bigger then the A118C

For those that don't know the "C" at the end of the model is for "Capacitor" and these do not have a battery so you can not use these external to take pictures, one's without the "C" are battery version which can be affected by heat and have a higher failure rate.

I'm not sure what camera's are able to read number plates at night without night vision. For what it is it does a verydecent job of illuminating vehicles and objects at night. If you bought it you wouldn't be disappointed.

Yes it will but you need to have it hooked up to a power source.for example my SEAT 12v socket stays on all the time and therefore you can set the camera to capture anything with the proximity sense(not sure how good it is). My BMW on the other hand is linked to the ignition and therefore it will only work while we are driving so it wont catch car park dings etc... I would say that the picture is really sharp and the night vision is also pretty decent. I have mine hidden behind my RV miror and you can't see unless you are looking for it.

I said at the top that It's a viofo clone. You can get a viofo from Amazon uk from seller called spytech. but looking at YouTube vids and spec info, this uses the exact same chipsets as the viofo one which is why I have bought one.

there are a lot of g1w clones out there too, which use rubbish chipsets, so avoid those. this is probably the best clone you'll get of the viofo

Brought an original VIOFO A118C-2 (2017) with GPS for £59 from Amazon checked with them that it was a genuine one as there are a lot of copy A118's around (you can check youtube out how to spot the copies) and they are crap!

This looks like a copy to me by the box should come in an original Viofo box with a proper multi language manual with good translated English.

The A118C-2 is the best one A119 has a horrible mount and the A118 & A118C the camera isn't good enough the C-2 camera is better than the A119 IMO.

I use mine for rear facing camera with a Velcro strip to hold it and tucked back so you cant see the camera unless you are directly in eye line of it. its small enough and light enough to hold in place with nearly zero vibration affecting the image. Picture quality is better than my Mio 518 which I have on the front.

Worth getting if its a genuine VioFo one, a random A118 will probably not last.

Getting put off now after the last 3 comments. Shame because it seemed like a real bargain at this price.

Also - on the FAQ page someone asked Gearbest what is the difference between this and the Viofo one and I noticed in their answer they listed this one as only having 30FPS and that one supporting 30FPS and 60FPS (?). They have also confirmed this is definitely not a Viofo one if you look at the faq.

Why are people making claims of quality and linking to reviews of the real Viofo camera when this is a fake that normally comes with a different and much worse sensor?

Bought around 10 over the past few months for friends and family from gearbeast and all arrived via yodel within 10 working days.

i originally bought one of these from amazon for around £50 a couple of years back and have had no issues. The ones from gearbest are identical except the firmware is slightly different. Only difference I can see is that it has an anti-sleep mode which I think makes it beep so you dont doze off! Really cant go wrong with this camera.

How good is the night recording on this? All the video recordings I've seen of this, I've noticed you can't even read the number plates or any of the vital info in the highest 1080p night recordings. Only seems to record ok during daylight which makes it kind of useless(?). Also saw a reviewer openly say you CAN'T read number plates at night with this camera, which appears to confirm what I thought. Also - how often is this thing being updated with firmware and where are you meant to get the software/firmware?
