I checked with their coverage checker which says I have good coverage where I live, so ordered & signed up to it, it came.
I inserted the sim today and found that from having a good signal with Vodafone, I had nothing around the house, garden or even in our road. Rung them up, cancelled it under the 14 day clause, their sim lasted precisely 30 mins in my phone. Utterly useless.
Got a 12 month deal with VF. 16Gb pcm, UL txts & mins, full roaming within the EU and a choice of Sky Sports, Now TV or Spotify. £19 pcm and I can use it at home.

I checked the coverage in my area (excellent) and went with the £10/mth Plusnet SIM deal, but I'm not getting a 4G data signal in my house like I did on giffgaff, which is disappointing, but I am getting a 3G signal. I'm going out and about this afternoon so I'll see what the 4G coverage is like elsewhere, but I'm yet to experience the amazing speeds and coverage people have apparently been getting on the EE network.
Still, I'm getting much more data than I did with giffgaff for the same price.
*Edit
Strangely, I'm now getting a 4G signal in my house. Also getting a solid 4G signal while out and about, so all is good.

Not true, should have hanged up and called again and spoken to another agent. Sometimes agents are not aware of the deals.

Very tempted to change to this Plusnet deal, if Plusnet/EE are reliable. I'm currently on the giffgaff £10 goodybag (2GB data/500 mins/ultd texts).

unfortunately giffgaff has lost it's edge and the data speed is abysmal!
other than the known issue with short text message, this will be tempting for giffgaff customers.

I have a dual sim phone with giffgaff and a similar deal to this from EE.
Like most networks it varies between the two which has the better coverage depending on where you are, what I would say though is that my EE sim gives faster speeds than my GiffGaff one, but it all depends on what coverage is like in your area.
Zerobob to Jonstonep1

I don't have any complaints with my 4G speed on giffgaff if I'm honest, but I rarely do any video streaming or anything when I'm out and about. When I'm at home I'm on wifi so 4G is irrelevant. I think getting 5GB data with Plusnet for the same price as 2GB with giffgaff is worth moving provider though, regardless of speed. Means I won't have to think about my data allowance ever again.
Adam786123 to Zerobob
6 Aug 17#37
But you should check if in your area you can get EE signal as not having signal you be saying how rubbish plusnet is and Internet is so slow....don't matter about the price you need to get a decent signal price comes next...not price then signal.

thanks, i may well take that up, im paying £10 to giffaff for 2GB of data, 500minutes of calls, but free giffgaff to giffgaff (which is the bulk). if this is completely unlimited, and the data is that big, im well happy.

Does anyone know any fairly cheap sim only deals that include unlimited streaming for services like Deezer? I'm looking at something for my Mother as she uses Deezer a little ever day and it would be more cost effective for her to pay for more data and stream than for me to set up a paid subscription for a music streaming service. Even Spotify's student version is £5 a month - she wouldn't normally go anywhere near her 1gb limit without streaming music, and when you can get 1.5gb for £5 with ID, that means she could get a hell of a lot of data for that extra £5, but I recall seeing some plans that included Deezer. Chances are they'll be over a tenner anyway, but I thought I'd ask!

I've got a legacy bt genie sim only plan. 300 mins unlimited txt and unlimited data £10 a month. This is now £12.78 a month with the RPI increase (even tho the contract was started way way before RPI increases were written in - go figure). The unlimited data now gets throttled when i hit 5gb and its only ever 3G data, i cant use 4G unless i come off the tariff. Seriously considering ditching o2 and taking the £10 deal mentioned above. Switched my mum to the fiver deal and she hasn't looked back.

It's just the perception of companies like Plusnet and EE. In the past, you hear stories of how their coverage is not that good. Reminds me of T-Mobile. They don't seem to be as trustworthy and reliable as established companies like O2 and Vodafone. And their adverts appear cheap and tacky, which doesn't help.
voodoo85 to Gennip
6 Aug 17#10
Fair enough if that's your perception but EE can be traced back through Orange with over 20 years of mobile network business in the UK much like companies such as o2 and Vodafone.
But obviously you're entitled to your opinion on the company

All that link shows is which main networks the smaller networks use for their infrastructure, not who owns them.
For example, EE is actually owned by BT, and Virgin runs on EE, but is obviously not owned by either EE or BT.

Plusnet use ee network and I'm having to leave them after a few months because of no indoor coverage, which they admit in my area. Hot if you can get ee coverage.
DingoDirk to elainec2323
6 Aug 17#20
This is an irritating problem with EE.
Compared to Vodafone for example, indoor coverage with EE is often very poor even when the outdoor coverage is better.
I've noticed this in my own home (middle of a well served town with the EE transmitter two minutes walk away and excellent outdoor coverage) and also on trains where the EE signal is nearly unusable.
I'm sure this is to do with the frequency used by EE in such cases.
It is definitely something to be aware of and it can be a big disappointment.

I'm on Ee have the same problems but free wi-fi calling solves this issue if you have a compatible handset unfortunately I switched from a nexus 5x which had wi-fi calling to a huawei p9 lite which doesn't needless to say I will make sure my next handset does support wi-fi calling

When you say no indoor coverage, do you just mean in your own home due to a poor signal, or are you saying there is no cover in any building. I have been with EE (previously Orange) and I travel to various places every day with no problems mostly. EE generally has good coverage.

Just signed up for this deal. The extra 1Gb of data & unlimited calls/texts isn't a deal breaker for me, as I'm more interested in the data than the calls.
I'm currently paying Vodafone £20 pcm for 1Gb data, 500 mins, unlimited txts. So this is a no brainer really.
Am I bothered about it not working indoors? Not really it stops work calling me asking me if I'd like to work my day off. :joy:

I switched from giffgaff to life as it then was (now plusnet). My lunch time download speed went from around 0.1 mb per sec to 8.0mb!
Don't forget this deal. Couple of differences, its a 12 month contract, but you get 'feel at home' in 60 countries, its unlimited calls and text. It includes 'go binge', gives you unlimited data with certain streaming providers which could be very handy for some people.
I would suggest ignore the cashback, go through tcb or quidco if you like, worth a try.
