Do you get any sort of warranty with this? Hot deal btw.

warranty for 12 months with o2 but you can get it to stretch for 24 months as that is the length of any contract with them and your in warranty with Sony also on top of o2.

Big hassle to save £11 and a bit better condition though.
Refresh can get phones worth £500 for £300 which is worth the grief.

Looks great spec phone, would it be much of an upgrade from a p9 lite I wonder.. Like a battery that will last all day!!
How much grief is it? I've seen a few tempting refresh deals and it looks like I just have to call as soon as the phone arrives to get it unlocked and once thats requested to call again to pay off the airtime?

Got one from Currys_pcworld eBay for £279, arrived Friday and it seems completely new, all accessories still wrapped and phone reported no use. Box a little bashed. Nice upgrade from my Z3, fingerprint sensor is very nice.

Isnt worth it. Took out a OnePlus 3T refresh deal not too long ago. been charged extra every month despite receiving written confirmation of cancellation and being on the phone with them. too many hidden clauses etc to risk. Sounds good until it isn't. Some people will have decent experiences with it though. Just telling you my side though.

But with box and accessories id say he had the better deal, and will gain more at resale

Check what warranty you get with these cos a big problem with these is the charging port goes , my dad got one brand new from very it's less that a year old and charging port is busted you put the charger into the port and it just falls out it don't hold it in :disappointed:

Sony does 24 month warranties and will probably take your o2 order email as proof of starting date. They even took my ebay/paypal email before for a used phone and gave me 2 whole years in the past.

Does anyone know if this has a better camera than the Moto G5 Plus?
I need a new phone to replace my Nexus 5X. Budget ideally around £200. Struggling to find anything else with a good camera!
Yeah, not easy (even impossible) to find a good camera on a £200 phone. Even most of the high-end FarEast-sourced phones, some of which have incredible specs for the price, fall down badly in the camera department.
nmd87
3 Jul 17#24
Thanks. Seems like the XZ is no better in the real world, as you say.
It's a shame there's nothing comparable to the Nexus 5X, which had an excellent camera and cost me well under £200. Then again, it was extremely unreliable and that's why I need a new phone!

There's the G5plus at £249 (£239 with code direct from Motorola), and likely to be some offers on it pretty soon too should think. Or there's the G4plus 16gb at £165 on Amazon too that has a fairly respectable camera. Sony phone cameras generally don't seem that great to be honest so unlikely to be much better than these. Or there's the Honor 6x at £189 currently - although the camera isn't as good as a dual lens set up suggests it is, it is still fairly ok apparently.

3 Jul 17#27
Yes, it's a toss up between the G5 Plus and G4 Plus it seems. Found the G5 Plus for £230 at Currys and with my work's discount scheme it comes down a bit further. However, as you say the G4 Plus is £50 cheaper and in some ways equal or better. Not an easy decision.

Clearly a moron to let it happen. I've had over 8 items on refresh and cancelled straight away and never been charged ever after paying item off. Cancel your direct debit the second your off the phone.

Can someone remind me of how to unlock this with o2 for free. When I got my z a few years ago I remember you had to do it before invoking the refresh.
nexus76 to pengwyn
3 Jul 17#36
you fastest way is to request it online as usually its 24 hours 48 at most.
misterleoni
3 Jul 17#31
Cancelling the direct debit is a bad idea because if they make a mistake and call for it (as they did with me) it will harm your credit rating as it will go down as a default. Best to pay off and wait for any emails as if you get a bill for hundreds of pounds you can just call them immediately and get them to sort it.
Paragon7
3 Jul 17#33
I did, no need to get hostile. Wasn't a personal attack. As i said I had numerous messages and emails stating that everything has been cancelled.
nexus76
3 Jul 17#34
Not hostile at all just stating an opinion because i would never let o2 charge me once i have cancelled something and if i did i would feel like a moron.
Cancel direct debit and its end of that as they cant take any money.
nexus76
3 Jul 17#35
It will never impact your credit rating and if it did its all recorded so you would make sure they inform credit agencies to remove any negative impact, honestly i have no idea how there can be any situations with refresh that negative,i have had 8 items and 2 of them i ended up getting free because of tiny faults and also credited back over £130 for and item that cost £34 .

Ignore THIS comment. Simply not true. Check out the long-running threads on the Sony forums. The camera is a mess.
Even if it were true, buying a phone that takes crap photos in automatic mode - which is what 99% of us do - is a waste of money.

For an incredible battery (& a reasonable upgrade), you could consider a Lenovo P2 (£200), but sadly oos now: https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lenovo-p2-huge-battery-fast-charging-and-decent-specs-199-10-top-up-three-2600354
