Your Redmi Note 4 is the original Mediatek variant which as you said is unlikely to get Nougat. However, the RN4 Global Version is Snapdragon variant, known as Redmi Note 4X in China which has been confirmed to get Nougat. RN4 Global Version uses the same ROM as the RN4X, therefore it will get Nougat eventually. There is already an Official Beta Nougat ROM and 3rd party Nougat ROMs for this phone. The same happened for RN3. The original RN3 Mediatek is still on Lollipop whereas the RN3 Snapdragon got Marshmallow.
The China Redmi Note 4X is the exact same as this phone except that it doesn't have B20. This will eventually get Nougat. The RN4X has been confirmed to receive Nougat and the ROM for it is the same as the RN4 Global Version.

To answer those, I have been running mine for a couple of months, i receive no pop ups, there is no adware, the rom gets updated freqentley, will receive nougat and Mui 9 Xiaomi are relasing Mui9 and Nougat for phones as old as the Redmi note 2, (3 years old) far better than what i got from Samsung, Apps have not seen any apps that i am unable to run. Android Support? Nobody offers android support not even Google. I am assuming by support you mean like apple where if i dont know how to use it i can walk in to a store and get support.

I've yet to find an app that doesn't work on my Redmi Note 3 (the previous model), and there's no pop-ups. It's also still getting updates. It also gets 4G on Three, despite not having band 20.

Had one for a few months now and 2 faults. The GPS is appalling, loses signal all the time absolute waste of time if you intend using this for any apps reliant on GPS. Secondly as this is a Mobile phone the most important thing should be making and receiving calls, don't rely on it. Sometimes I make or receive calls and I can hear the other person fine they cant hear me, looking online it appears to be due to the position of the handset when you answer it. Have looked online and would appear both these faults are common and theres a fix for gps requiring rooting the device which will void warranty, plus I shouldn't have to fix something that's brand new.

Just out of interest what is the difference between this current deal and the one in the link?
The 4X is a different phone. 5" screen rather than 5.5", slightly slower processor etc.

These phones & the Redmi Note 3 Pro SE absolutely fly on lineage OS. It's the best thing to do with them, lightweight OS, only install the Google apps you want, no bloatware and very frequent updates. I would advise all purchasers to do this if they know how (and it can be a faff with these phones).

The microphone is placed on the phone so that it is in the correct position when using the phone it your right hand. Using it with the left hand means you have to hold it parallel with your nose to get good clear voice.
I don't have an issue with any dropouts on the GPS. It's not the most accurate but fine for Google maps and the like.

As one or two others have pointed out, the GPS issues were with versions that use the Mediatek processors. My last phone was such a product and the GPS was appalling and not fit for purpose (apart from allowing you to determine what general geographical area you were in). I have been using the model described in this deal for about 3 months now and it is by far the best phone I have owned (I usually switch to whatever is regarded as the best buy for around the £100 mark every 18-24 months). It is smooth, stable and all my regular apps (including previously troublesome banking ones) work. The main drawback for me is the camera. The images are fairly typical for smartphones at this price point and the quality of the video is noticeably worse than most of the previous devices I have owned. Both are adequate for my purposes, though.
I can't speak to the call quality issue you describe, I'm afraid. It's worked fine for me so far and nobody has complained at the other end yet, but I am not a heavy user in the respect to my 'sample size' is small.

What is the difference between the Redmi Note 4 and the Note 4X?
Primary difference is 4X is slightly smaller and slightly less powerful. But always check the spec wherever you're buying from, because different regions have different variants (including the 4X being called the 4 in India, extra-confusingly).

My apologies, I assumed you meant the two that people have posted deals for around here in recent weeks. In that case, read this instead: techadvisor.co.uk/rev…11/
But again, always check the spec wherever you're ordering from, because these names are confusing and change by region.
The Redmi Note 4X = Redmi Note 4 Global Version without B20, as mentioned in my previous post.
dreadzone101
27 Jul 17#41
In terms of what you can buy online, put simply the Redmi Note 4X is the exact same as the Redmi Note 4 Global Version minus B20. The packaging will be different and the Redmi Note 4X being sold on Banggood, AliExpress etc will be China origin therefore a factory sealed one would be pre-installed with China ROM so the sellers open it up to install Global ROM themselves. The Redmi Note 4 Global Version on the other hand will be factory sealed with Global ROM pre-installed. The naming differences is probably due to the Original Redmi Note 4 Mediatek. In regions which had this, the Snapdragon variant was released as Redmi Note 4X to differentiate it from the original. Whereas in regions such as India, Singapore etc, the Snapdragon variant was just released as Redmi Note 4.

I ordered the 64GB/4GB Note 4 from AliExpress (sent by SingPost) and it has been at that point for the last six days. I was worried I'd have to chase the seller round the houses etc or be sent a customs charge. Got to work today as I was off on holiday last week and the phone was sitting on my desk, tracking still says it's at Heathrow processing.
If I put my tracking number into Royal Mail's site it says there no information yet on your signed for parcel.
Hopefully you'll receive yours soon.

All, I had one of these phones until recently and tempted to buy another. Purchased from AliExpress - as long as it is sent by Chinese post never got charged for import on anything I have bought. The phone itself is very well built and the global rom slick and software good. There is no bloatware on the version I got which was all wrapped up. Regular updates come over your wifi so no problems there. Plays and performed very well. That was until I dropped it smashed the screen when it still worked. Then it developed a charging problem. I think this was unrelated to the drop and smash as about a month apart. Anyway out of frustration I killed it! The problem with getting these phones is when they go wrong. Yes you get a years warranty but there are caveats to the warranty and alos you will have to pay for shipping. And do you trust the item will get there? I have seen aliexpress bundled in a UK warranty with mine which meant I could get it repaired in the UK but obviously dropping it wont cover it as well as making any modifications to firmware or software getting it wet etc. Its a risk buying one. I have had three chinese phones - all dead within 6 months. This one I was impressed with and the support community there is rivals apple. Indeed in China they have xiaomi shops like Apple. However, we arent in China! Ive llooked at buying comparable second hand UK phones but that comes with risks too - its a definite gamble. However I have spent about £400 on three Chinese phones and got in total about 18 months use out of them in total. If I had spent that much on a phone from a UK retailer Im guesssing it would still be working - (dropping aside)? My HTC One M8 which has been kicking about switches on and still works fine, which is what I have had to use now until I decide what to do! Im tempted to give up on Chinese stuff as definately inferior quality, but the price always convinces me!!!

Mine was mailed and supposedly 'left the origin border point' a day after the order was processed last week, and the tracking hasn't said anything else since then. Obviously too early to make an issue of it, but I'm also kinda hoping it just shows up on the doorstep unannounced.

Have picked it up now, no fees or anything (helpfully listed by Banggood as an 'MP4 Player', which I suppose technically it is). Upgrade to Android 7 immediately available, by the way, for those who care about that (although I played around with it a bit both before and after I updated, and didn't notice any obvious differences - probably due to MIUI being over the top of it anyway).

10 Aug 17#65
Can you please check if android 7 features are available like split screen, one handed mode etc? Thanks
Richyyy
10 Aug 17#66
There is definitely a one-handed mode, and after fiddling a little I got it to work (that was probably just me - not something I've used before). Split screen doesn't appear to be available yet, but a bit of googling suggests it's probably coming.
People have certainly mentioned in the threads here that they've installed their own ROMs/Launchers, so that way you could get rid of MIUI, which might change some things. So far I don't have any real issues with it, so I doubt I'll bother. Some things are just a bit different, or in different places, but I'll get used to that pretty quickly.

Played with the phone for a few hours, nicely finished, both cameras are by Samsung ( decent ones), straightaway ota update to android 7.0, good performance and speakers, great battery life (slow to charge, though), supports VoLTE.
Rounded screen edges so tempered glass sheet will not cover the entire display, a few Google apps installed by default and not easy to uninstall but overall, a very good buy, happy.

The developer's global version of the rom seems better as the final has some issues with deep sleep and is not in fact an android 7.0.

Played with it for a few days now and really happy with phone. I upgraded from a Lenovo K3 note and it's far faster and smoother in every day use. Games are significantly faster and it gives a 50% better benchmark in Antutu. Games feel all-round much smoother. It doesn't get anywhere near as hot as the Lenovo and the battery lasts around two days of average use. The rear finger-print reader is great for unlocking the phone as it reads accurately and quickly.
My only gripe is that without a case (which should be arriving next week) the phone as as slippery as a bar of soap, so I'm being super-careful not to drop it every time I pick it up.
So far so good and I'd definitely buy this again at this price for family members etc.
