Bought this for my mum, brilliant phone for her as it's the smallest phone Xiaomi do. Battery life is incredible, so I don't have to worry about her unlike her old Xperia S.
It's usually cheaper on aliexpress + you can get a nice cashback from topcashback to make it sub £90 for this. If you're on the fence, take the plunge!
Less 8% potential cashback...to be fair in my numerous aliexpress orders Quidco has paid out every time.

Be interested to see images taken with the camera. It's the final hurdle that's stopping me from moving to a Xiaomi type phone!

Couple of days on the battery. Here's some snaps including the case I bought
Never toke the plunge outside the usual brands I.e. Samsung, Sony.etc. Am looking to upgrade from Z3 Compact. Under 200 quid. Very tempted with this phone. What are they like in terms of overall quality, updates.etc against the big boys. Any advice appreciated..

Great phone in use for 6 weeks now can't fault it.Have had 2 ota updates. Metal case excellent build quality. Bought it it to replace my tired Moto G 2 was glad I didn't hang about waiting for the G 5 to fall in price. Recommended buy

Thanks for the feedback. Am torn between this model the one above it. Also considering the G5 plus. Are their decent screen protecters & cases for these redmi models. Heard the screens aren't best..don't know if that is true or not..

Excellent phone apart from Bluetooth connectivity consistency. My Alcatel Go watch wouldn't stay connected and my car stereo had the same problem. Husband fixed these issues by installing a new rom. Now the fingerprint scanner doesn't work but I never used that much anyway.

I got a Redmi 3S prime for my father a while back, he likes it and it was very good value for what it is. Battery life is often excellent simply because they jam big batteries in these.
I considered a Lenovo P2 because it's got absolutely brilliant battery life, but it's not a compact phone. Worth looking at though if battery life is a big deal.
I prefer compact phones. The fact that it is getting difficult to get high spec, really good compact phones that AREN'T iphones is annoying me no end. The Z series compacts were the dogs, but the X compact is an expensive disappointment.

Am exactly the same on compact phones. Love my Z3 done me good, but battery is dying. The x series of phones are that bad?...

The X compact isn't 'bad' but it's not very good either. It's not really any better than the two year old Z5C. You'll have to try one out yourself. If you want a really good 2017 compact phone then your choices are pretty compromised.
2017 version Samsung A3 would probably be my choice but I wouldn't be too chuffed with it. Maybe a super cheap Xiaomi like this is the way to go as a stopgap, then if someone comes up with a better compact model you can move over without having committed much on a new phone

My mum has a Redmi 2, old phone spec-wise, but still great for its age. I`m just sure that somewhere like Carphone Warehouse does something comparable for this ton-plus money, where you get a "proper" 12 month warranty.

MIUI 9 With Andriod 7 (Nougat) is coming out on 26 July. Might be a wait for a week or 2 before all the other Xiaomi get it. Waiting for my Redmi 3 Note
Screen Resolution1280*720 Pixel, issue? !! Cold I'm afraid though had ordered it, not realising

23 Jul 17#41
Its a 5" screen , anything higher than 720p screen resolution is pointless and slows the phone down. You would need a magnifying glass to see the extra detail a 1080p screen gives on a 5" screen - there are not going to be pixel issues.

23 Jul 17#52
It works with all UK networks as it has all the 4G bands used in the UK , even band 20. Only ever buy the global versions of Xiaomi phones .Don't buy cheaper global rom or international rom models as they are hacked Chinese versions and don't have all UK 4g bands and have been known to have nasties in the firmware.
badboyofrock to simes
24 Jul 17#56
Not all global versions have Band 20, and, although sometimes they may have a dodgy vendor rom preinstalled, they are not 'hacked'.

This is a good phone but for £110 the Note 4 has the faster 625 Snapdragon processor and better full HD screen and all metal body - much better value.

The note 4 snapdragon version doesn't have a all metal body, it has the exact same build as the 5" 4x with plastic top and bottom but agree if you can handle the size over the 5" 4x the note is the better specced phone for only a little bit more.
Thanks, ordered one when there were 4 left! Quidco tracked.
EDIT: Interestingly, now showing as in stock again without the "promo" and same price.

I ordered this and it came today. However the white screen looks slightly flickery - hard to explain as it's not going off, more like you can see the flicker of the picture like you would on an old computer screen. It's fine on the dark screen and seems better outdoors. I've been fiddling with the settings but can't seem to fix it. Is this a known fault? Hoping I don't have to send it back.

Bought this to replace my Smart First from February 2016, that phone cost me £15 and has worked perfectly within it's limitations, used everyday in construction industry. My Redmi 4x took 9 days to arrive. I have a Life, now Plusnet 3G sim, put it in the new phone, network shows as T-Mobile 4G. ?? Not too worried as it's all working.
