Thanks OdhranC for the information. Does anyone know how to program the bulb to come on at 6pm say and off at 9pm everyday? Can't seem to do it using the Mi Home app? Thanks.

Anyone have any luck with connecting this bulb to Alexa via IFTTT app? It looks as though it has to be done by creating your own applet in IFTTT and using Alexa as the trigger and use Webhooks to send a web request. The problem is working our the proper syntax and code to send to Alexa via the webhook. If anyone has any ideas I'd be happy to hear them

Hi Jamie,
I too found it confusing!
Took me longer than I thought it would have but got the app to work.
Once you have the app installed you will be prompted to create an account with Mi Home. You have to make an account.
After you've created an account click on the Profile button along the bottom of the main screen. Its beside My Devices.
Click Settings.
Set Locale to Mainland China.
Set the Language to English (do not leave at Default).
You will then need to go back to the main screen of the app and tap on Sign in with Mi Account. Sign in.
Once signed in, tap on the My devices button along the bottom of the screen.
Tap on the Plus button along the top right hand side and then tap Add Device.
The app will start to search for the bulb.
If it cannot find the bulb, try connecting manually.
If that does not work you'll need to reset the bulb. To do this switch the bulb on and off 5 times. You'll know it has been reset as the bulb will pulse 5 times. After it has finished pulsing, try searching for the bulb again.
When you have a bulb connected, go to the settings menu of the bulb and update the firmware.
I hadn't realised you can change the colour warmth of these bulbs. You can set it to a cool white or warm yellow. I thought that was good. To do this, you select the bulb and on the screen that comes up you swipe left and right to adjust colour temperature. Swipe up and down for dimming. Tap to turn the bulb on and off.
If anyone else has other info that can share please add it to this thread
Hope that helps.

Maybe I'm just being complete stupid, but I can't get this to work?
Everywhere says to download the "Mi Home" / "MiHome" app but the first one I download refuses to let me go anywhere without setting up a "Mi Home Gateway" and the other is in a foreign language (chinese I assume) and I can't even get past the setup.
First one I downloaded was "Mi|Home" by Sandal PLC
Second one I downloaded was "MiHome" by jin Li
Can someone help please?

These sound like they have less functionality than the standard Yeelights (4 modes vs analogue dimmer/colour control). I have 14 colour and 3 white Yeelights in my flat and couldn't recommend them enough. They work well with Alexa and IFTTT (both have an integration with Yeelight software) and each bulb has its own IP address so no hub.

I bought exactly these bulbs. They are nice lights in regards to brightness and colour temperature, but connectivity is a bit poor. You can't use the yeelight app but the mi home app is fine. However, you have to change the region to china to be able to have these bulbs in the list of available devices to add. There is as yet no support in Homebridge as far as I am aware, not sure about Alexa. Connectivity is definitely different to xiaomi yeelight bulbs and to Philips hue bulbs.

I bought a couple when previously posted. There's a Mi Home Alexa skill but It can't find it in the UK store.
Until the skill is available here I can't find a way to get them to work with Alexa
(They work fine with the android app)

Consider me confused are these painful to try to set up? I want come bulbs to go with Alexa. I don't have a hue hub or any other wireless than normal WiFi hub in the house. Are these ideal? Or bad copies which are hard to use?

What are come bulbs? I presume it's to let your partner know when you've finished. I suppose it beats the sarcasm of "oh great you've finished and there's me planning to read War and Peace", that sort of comment puts you off your stride.

is that the only connection available?
the one advantage is that it does need a hub to plug into the router. my router is already full with 4 hubs. need to start having this home tech without each company having a separate hub. one of the reasons why I wont invest in the Philips. home automation tech needs to be more flexible and not closed boxes.

I failed to get these philips branded ones to work with the Mi Home app. The bulbs instructions tell you to use this app.
Connects fine but brightness controls don't work.
Tried yeelight with no success at all. Wouldn't even find the bulb
