I don't believe you or you word or the fact that you've bothered to helpfully post this deal so that others can benefit.
You need to prove it to ME. Oh please do everyone a favour and accept that the person posting has nothing to be gained by posting false information and stop asking people to prove things to your satisfaction by producing a receipt. Just been on the phone with Wilko national customer service. They also make several phone calls on me behalf to various stores. THIS IS NOT A NATIONWIDE deal is SELECTED STORES ONLY. For those who been able to dropp this price down to 40 quid well done but thats all depend how specific store will deal with it. The offer price is £130 only. I personally call about 10 stores within 60 mikes radious and if any off them have them in stock is £130
Don't buy it then... I don't care whether you do or not.
mr_hercules
31 Jul 17#113
Please don't take such a condescending tone.
There's so much wrong (IMO) with your comment. Firstly, I simply asked who the manufacturer was, since I would personally avoid the manufacturer of the mower I bought. So no need to imply that I was expecting too much.
Secondly, regardless of whether it's a £400 or a £40 mower, if it doesn't work, it's a waste of whatever money you've paid!! I wasn't doubting nor was I implying that this particular mower is no good...I was asking who makes it so that I can pass my own personal, unshared, judgement on whether or not I should buy it.

I went to my local store in Woowich London SE18 on Saturday 29/7/2017 and they had one of these on the shelf at £40.00 reduced from £160. Should I buy one for my small Plumstead garden no I just left it. They also had a 1400 watt electric one reduced from £85.00 down to £25.00 and I still didn't buy it. I had a think and went back at 1.00pm on Sunday 30/7/2017 and purchased the petrol one it was still sitting there but will I use it or do I need it not sure really. The 1400watt electric was still on the shelf so if some one want's that one get down to Woolwich fast Monday. I did ask if they had any more of the petrol ones and the reply was no you had the last one.

I think you know the answer to this one: if you want absolute guarantees, service backup and spares then go to the Honda dealer and pay £400. This is a £40 machine that will probably work perfectly well for years (as mine has).

The manufacturer absolutely matters. The reason I asked is that we bought a worryingly similar looking mower from Costco (whose customer service is usually excellent) but the mower was completely DoA. Unfortunately you only find out after you've put oil and petrol in! No chance of sending it back after that unless you painstakingly remove it all. Costco were not helpful at all, and we ended up with a lawn trigger want mowed for over a month. If this mower was made by the same manufacturer I would stay well, well clear! If not, it's a bargain!

it's the same with Aldi's. They reduce prices only at certain stores. The manager is given a lowest price from head office and the item can reduced accordingly at his/her discretion to stock clear. I reckon the same is happening here hence the random prices.

I think it's random stores, as I got one this morning for my mum in thetford norfolk, then in the afternoon went to another store 12 miles away to get one for myself as a spare, and it was still £130. Incase it was marked up wrong i got a member of staff to scan it, and no it was still £130.

I'm not sure the manufacturer really matters - as far as the consumer is concerned it is Wilco, which will provide the warranty. The Chinese manufacturer will not be one anyone here as heard of,and will be based in a Chinese city of 2,000,000 people that no one has heard of. It seems well built (not as good as Honda but better than Briggs and Stratton) so it should last quite a while with a little maintenance.
I'd agree this is a reliable machine that starts and runs well. I'd recommend changing the original engine oil after a few hours running (it takes less than a litre), that is all.

I bought one of these two years ago (for the same price - £40 seems to be the end of summer price) and it has been excellent for the money. The engine is a Chinese made copy of a Honda OHV model (and there is nothing wrong with that - rather better than SV engines from Briggs & Stratton &c). The only maintenence has been to change the oil once per year, it starts easily even after being left in the shed all winter. The body is mostly plastic and so probably would not stand hard use, but for gardens it is fine.
I would strongly recommend this mower at £40.
