I like the way people talk about homebrew as if it didn't just mean piracy.

We kept looking on gumtree for a week or two and got a wii with 3 remotes, 2 motionplus 2x nunchucks, microphone, marrio cart with 3 x steering wheels and 21 games for £30 - and then got a balance board for £10  happy kids and even more happy mummy and daddy ha

Picked up a near-mint condition one with 6 good games, pro controller and 2x wii remotes from eBay for £175. If you're buying second hand, check eBay and Gumtree first as you'll likely find better value bundle deals than this. Condition "fair" will be barely presentable.

Even though I bought a switch yesterday tempted to buy this for the game backlog, but with my luck i will buy it and Nintendo will announce some add on for the switch to play Wii u games. Are there other bundles with different games?

I'd take the risk if I was you. Only way I can see Wii U games making it on to the Switch is the remaster route like Mario Kart 8.
Get that Wii U and enjoy that great catalogue of games it has

Fair enough - it's worth contacting people on Gumtree with a low offer - particularly when they've had it listed for a while - as most people are happy to get rid. Not sure what you been by the sensor bar but the balance board is needed for Wii Fit if you want to play that. Not sure how much cex charge but you can usually pick up balance boards pretty cheap 2nd hand.

I have had a look at Gumtree, but tbh, cex looks pretty good value. The console is about £20 and some games are only a couple of quid. From the advice, it doesn't look worth getting the motion plus remote but is it worth getting the motion sensor bar for dance/ fitness games?

I couldn't really care less what anyone does so if you want to play your games off a hard drive then that's up to you. There's just a lot of people on here openly advocating piracy but calling it homebrew which somehow makes it seem less like what it actually is. Also there is a difference between playing games you own & have bought to playing games you've simply pirated although I'm not sure Nintendo see it that way.

I think if people went into that sort of detail. It will cause trouble!

Our wii is behind the telly on the wall, we own all the 20 games we have on the hdd but don't have to put the disks in and out of the inacessible console. Piracy in your book?

Calling it homebrew makes it sound kinda wholesome & like a hobby for people who like tinkering rather than an app for people who don't like paying for games & just want to get everything for free.

Bit off topic, but I am looking at getting a original Wii for my 9yo daughter for the summer hold from cex. I'm a gaming novice and noticed there is a lot of choice of accessories, is there any recommended accessories to get with it? Games wise she will probably be playing the sports and dance ones. Thanks for any info.

Balance Board, Wiimotes which are WiimotePlus or you can buy the Plus attachment to click into regular Wiimotes, and rechargeable battery packs for the Wiimotes and Balance Board.

Also look on Gumtree before going to CEX as you can probably get a Wii with games & couple of controllers for around the same price.

If it's the original Wii then there's very few games that use the motion plus apart from Zelda Skyward Sword & Wii Sports Resort so might not be worth spending the extra money if you're only playing Wii Sports (ie the original not the later Wii Sports Resort) & Just Dance. Probably a good idea to pick up a couple of remotes anyway.

For 'fair condition' see 'battered'.
If condition is not of great importance however, a highly enjoyable Super Mario Bros title, much unappreciated and at this price a steal.

Alas not, if they already have homebrew on it, it will still work
