Sorry if this has been on here already, it's late and although I had a quick look, couldn't see it so thought I would post it.

My kids break up this Wednesday the 19th, dont' know why it's a Wednesday but it is. Thomson have some Orlando flights leaving on the 20th and the 21st for 14 or 11 nights. Departing airports are Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle. Starting at £401 each for a family of 4, will be more per person if there's just 2 or 1 or ya? There isn't loads of availabilty but it's about half price compared to the week after (well perhaps not quite half price, but it's cheaper!) Not sure where the link will take you but the flights were there even if you have to search for them a bit :smiley:
If you are wanting to go, it's damn hot in Florida at the minute, even Floridians were saying it's hot! And the current exchange rate makes it more expensive than it was. Thomson flights go into Sanford which is still classed as Orlando, just an extra hour further north than international drive/Kissimee, if that's where you're looking at staying.
Won't be of use to many but might help someone

It's nice now, but when I went the first week of June for 2 weeks it was 2 weeks of rain, which ruined it, but hey ho! Lesson was learnt there. Looking at the forecast it seems ok this week.

Weather forecasts can't be trusted, we realised. So don't arrange a day of nothing just because rain is forecast. Our arranged day to Busch was forecast rain all the way up until the morning, then the rain was gradually pushed further and further back until it was 10pm and it hadn't rained at all!
We went for the last two weeks in June and rain only really properly ruined one day.

If it's an Esta you need they come through almost immediately. Not sure about Visas though.

ESTAs come through rapidly. Within 20mins.

Would get your ESTA first before booking just so your sure you won't have any problems, great price though

Having just recently got back from a Thomson holiday to Orlando, my one bit of advice is this: Don't accept the included hire car. It doesn't include the CDW and you will be charged for it. Works out a better deal to book independently! I got a bill for £320ish for a Ford Focus, when I could've paid £399 and had a Dodge Challenger (with included CDW) for 2 weeks instead!

I went last week june first week july, had some rain and lightning but it was always around 4-5pm for like 20 mins then it cleared! Very hot though

Hot deal. Though ignore that dibb forum, who pays thousands for a holiday then has hardly has any money left so they carry around WDW in the heat bottles of water and sandwiches or fill up their suitcase with Robinsons and gravy granules etc.

Currently trying to book a holiday to Orlando for me and my girlfriend.
Wanting to go at the end of September (only time we can both get off work).
Anyone been around this time before? Just wanting to know what the weather is likely to be like. Read so many different things.
Also will 10 nights be enough to do all of Disney and universal?
Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

You'll never be able to do ALL of Disney & Universal. I've been going for 15 years and still got loads more to do. However, 10 days is plenty of time if you plan and manage your time in the parks sensibly.

I only ever go in Sept/Oct - by far the best time of year to go. Weather is still hot, generally sunny, you might get an odd rainy day but the rain only tends to last half an hour. Plus Universal have their Halloween Horror nights which are superb if you get a chance to go. 10 days is enough if you just want to do the theme parks, best having an itinerary though to make sure you fit it all in

I went on a last minute Thomson flight in April and had a fantastic time. They use the dreamliner planes to fly to orlando and they are new and very big. It was a pleasant experience! If hiring a car then I would buy the car insurance in uk, information on car excess policy was found on Moneysavingexpert website. We booked flight on Tuesday and went on Wednesday and got our ESTA pretty quickly. I would take the email confirmation of ESTA to show Thomson. We had to as they couldn't see us on the system. We used undercover tourist to book park tickets and used priceline for hotels all over Florida. I would say that although we got our flights reasonably cheaply, this was far from a cheap holiday. Our 3 days in the parks cost us £2K. I know you can get 7 and 14 day tickets which work out much cheaper but we didn't want to spend more then a few days at the parks.

I've been last week of sept-first week of Oct a few times. Weather is fine, it's still hot but manageable in my opinion. Can rain briefly in the afternoons, but only for only a short while. Almost immediately after you can't tell it has even rained!
I would allow a day per park. So you could do each of the disney/universal parks but you might find you'll lack 'rest days'. There are websites that show you recommended days of when to visit each park, deff have a look at these to help you plan.
Like someone else suggested, Halloween Horror Nights is worth checking out.

Hot?! Yea, course it is, uncomfortably hot in the summer in Florida.
No such thing as monsoon season but this is storm/hurricane season.
7 days of storms forecasted in the next 9 days..
You just have to take it day by day in Florida during the summer. May/September/October are great times to go.

Hurricane season runs June-October with the Sep/Oct giving the highest probability of disruption.
Summer is very hot and usually humid with regular rain showers in the afternoons / sometimes developing into thunderstorms. Doesn't seem to stop anyone though.
