If you go to your local charity shop or look on gumtree, you'll get a good used tent you can use over and over again for about ten or twenty quid.

Think about it - if you go to 8 festival events in the next 5 years, you'll have spent a few hundred pounds on these "disposable" tents. Why not just buy a decent quality one and reuse it? Also, you can lend it to friends and they can use it to.

I picked up a really good eurohike tent in a charity shop for £8 a good few years back and it's been all over the country. Even with all it's years of use, I could still sell it for a tenner and make £2 profit :laughing:

I find it shocking that people feel it's ok to just litter festivals for a start but secondly that they'd waste money on a tent for a festival, leave it behind and just buy a new one for the next festival. Completely false economy IMHO.

The 4 man for £15 looked much better value, and more like a real 2 man tent!

The sort of idiot that pays to go to Glastonbury just to be used as background for the tv coverage is likely to be too stupid to put one of these away.

Ordered last night (before OOS) along with a few other things. The other things have been dispatched... getting concerned as the tent is yet to be dispatched....

I got one from Tesco Extra, Aberdeen, and there were still a couple left.

Great deal OP- it's a tremendous value tent.

- It's pitch-outer first, so you can protect the inner from rain while pitching.
- Weighs about 2450g out of the box, but I can save a few 100g by discarding the porch groundsheet and replacing the pegs
- Will pack down small, e.g. to fit into bike panniers, as the pole segments are only 47cm long
- Flame retardant material
- The mesh door and ceiling vent will provide plenty of ventilation

That's interesting, but it's not normal to think like that.

Really dont give to the homeless , I have spent my working life in this field this the the worst solution, a tent becomes a home and a home is what people want so it removes the motivator to help and support people and encourages entrenched homelessness.

next people will be saying its a life style choice, or that British people are not given homes, homelessness is nothing to do with property availability and choice.

Seriously? I would have thought a tent could provide vital protection in the winter and I hear about people freezing to death, and the ability to at least part function - which surely helps toward getting off the street? I'm surprised it doesn't encourage the mindset 'this is better than sleeping in a doorway this motivates me to find a proper solution'. Maybe it's not the being tented alone that is the problem. Is this anecdotal or is there material evidence?

Can only the echo the comments about "disposable" tents. As someone that's done a few festivals in my time, the number of people who just dump their tents (and other stuff) is shocking. I was at one last weekend and I was talking to one of the guys afterwards who's job it was to clear the field and there were tents everywhere. They said they usually end up with trucks full of crap as very little is of any quality it could even be donated to charity for use in disasters etc.

On the plus side, he did say he got nearly a full van of abandoned alcohol from Glastonbury.
