Do they have any 1 man 11 women (or even a couple less) wigwams?

I have a proper canvas bell tent and last year set my tent up next to one of these. The chap inside the Tesco tent was very pleased to tell me how much cheaper his tent was than mine.
At 2 a.m the rains came. I was nice and cosy in my tent but got woken up by this man and his family packing their completely drenched tent away. They were gone by 8 a.m.
If you want a serious holiday in a tent, you get what you pay for. If you go for this then do it only as a fun garden tent, light protection etc. No use as a family tent.

The idea of "man" in this case is to denote via shorthand the volume capacity in relation to the average "man".
5:10 is the average height for UK males
5:5 is the average height for UK females
Obviously this doesn't include "little people" with average height of 4:10.
So in short (pun intended) saying 12 person tent gives no indication of size as to which "person group: dies the volumetric calculation apply. To use "person" you would need to attribute height to the non-descript class for anyone to work out whether the item unsuitable or not - which negates the entire point of using person as a volumetric shorthand reference tern
Strange times indeed when
A) this needs explained
B) using shorthand terms need to be rationalized and justified

I've just packed mine up to take it back to Tesco.
Its single skin, virtually transparent so any daylight at all comes straight though it.
The main pole doesn't have a fixing at the top, and has a habit of moving and collapsing the tent.
Plus any kind of rain and you get massive puddles at the doors, as well as running down the main panels inside.
Shame, because it looked quite smart

That's true of canvas tents as the seams and material has to expand to make it watertight.
Personally I use a canvas bell tent (which this is trying and failing to emulate) and have never had any issues in 8+ years.

same review i thought it was the same tent? if you look its just a different colour same design
When it says 12 man it's a method of measurement.. nothing to do with gender roles. If it was 12 person then you can't judge the actual size.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I read somewhere that new tents and the like require a good watering down and drying before they become truly waterproof. *shrug* Perhaps another HDUKer can elucidate?!

I wouldn't bet on it, I dunno what make it was but a few years ago at a festy one of our party had one of this design, it was throwing it down and windy all night and it leaked all over his sleeping bags/bed etc. Had to spend the rest of it kipping in his car.

After some of the camping sh*te Tesco have been selling recently, this isn't too bad. 2000mm HH means it will stand up to a heavy shower and a bit of wind so probably OK for summer camping but probably not anything more extreme. At 5m diameter, realistically, it's more likely to sleep about 5 or maybe six people but for £100 it's a bargain for this kind of tent.
I'm considering getting one to put in the garden for parties!
