I recently bought myself a pair of Superdry prescription sunglasses, and although I waited at least 3-4 weeks, for about £25 I was very happy. Also, quality is excellent. This new Summer Sale includes both prescription glasses and sunglasses with brands such as Superdry, Berkeley, Oasis, Ghost and Lambretta. Over 300 frames to choose from and lots of upgrades available.

I bought a paid of Superdry from Specky4Eyes with the bog standard lens. My order arrived within about a week.
Also the lens was very good.
Looking further into why some lenses work well and some don't reveals that SpeckyFoureyes use a material called CR-39 which (especially if genuine manufacturer PKK) is the lens plastic giving the closest result to glass. And glass is the best possible lens to look through (but too heavy, shatters etc). For example, cameras always use glass lenses and not plastic.
A lot of outlets use polycarbonate - which is not as good to see through. They phrase this as an "up sell" but in fact the quality is worse, but the shatter characteristics improve. CR-39 lenses are also shatterproof but will crack when drilling for rimless lenses, so polycarbonate is used.
It's a sad story that some opticians (online or offline) are mass producing crap lenses and taking people's money but giving them a poor result.
- My experience of SpecSavers is terrible - the lady told me they "cut the lens from a large slab .. of cheap material". - I also visited D&A (now Boots) and boot a pair with Nikon lenses - and they were the best I ever had. Fabulous - The lenses I bought from Vision Express were also very good. - I bought a lot of lenses from Cilliaryblue - but as Scotty said above, something about the lense is not quite right for me.
Specsavers started calling their lenses Pentax - to counter D&A's Nikon - but I have doubts Pentax have anything to do with this poor quality result.
So in conclusion, the best lenses were high st outlets except Specsavers. Cheaper online (Cilliaryblue) were never quite right (polycarbonate?). So all I know is that SpeckyFoureyes despite the silly name, are an online company using the best plastic material.
And everyone should be asking their optician the question: what material is the lens made of and who is the manufacturer? Then watch the face of the Specsavers rep.
And I'm no expert but I hope that is useful for anyone with dodgy lenses, astigmatism or anyone prescription-sensitive.

Finally got a dispatched email today, for an order placed on 3rd June.

To be honest I would avoid.
Been waiting since 12/06/2017. I have called up twice and send 3 emails. On the last call last week they send it would be ready for dispatch by the end of the week. Today received an email saying will be ready end of this week or beginning of next week.
They take forever to get hold of, then when you do they lie.

I made a mistake on my order and I have nothing but positive things to say about the customer service. Emails are always replied to, might take a day but they always got back to me
The lead time for glasses are nearly 4 weeks but if you are prepared for that it's not a problem .
Just thought I'll balance it a bit out as most people who get decent service don't leave feedback.

Terrible name for a company!

I imagine if you were labelled "specky four eyes" as a kid then the company name might bring back unhappy memories.
Doesn't seem to be as much stigma thankfully with wearing glasses and the name does stick in your head. I guess that was all part of the master plan.
Shame hearing aids still carry stigma as only about 20% of people who could benefit from them actually wear them.

Tried a few of these online opticians including this one and have to say glasses direct is by far the quickest usually within 7 days and good quality frames.

I agree about the long lead times, but I assume that get inundated when they are this cheap. I also needed to make an amendment to my prescription, sent an online chat thingy, and it was done in a day.

i only ever had bad experiences ordering from them :disappointed: frames were always slightly twisted. customer service is really good though. superdry frames look exactly the same as the other merchant who had a sale on - are these ones different in quality to other frames by them?

Bought sunglasses from them on the last deal a month ago. took EXACTLY 4 weeks from order to receipt. Cheap, but don't expect a fast TAT. If you email or call them about how long, they just refer to their T&C's indicating up to 28 days for delivery. If that works for you, then great, if you need them quick... I've just used The Optic shop for another pair, ordered Saturday, will be delivered tomorrow - 6 days.

Exactly the same experience, my Superdry sunnies turned up last week after about a month, worth the wait. Good quality frame and lenses. I say good lenses because I ordered 2 pairs of glasses from Glassesdirect for £19 and even though the prescription is the same and I've had them checked at Specsavers there just seems to be something not 100% right with them.
