It’s 1968 and after years of combat in Vietnam, Lincoln Clay knows this truth: family isn’t who you’re born with, it’s who you die for. Now back home in New Bordeaux, Lincoln is set on escaping a criminal past. But when his surrogate family, the black mob, is betrayed and wiped out by the Italian Mafia, Lincoln builds a new family on the ashes of the old and blazes a path of military-grade revenge through those responsible. Intense gun fights, visceral hand-to-hand combat, white knuckle driving and street smarts will all be needed. But with the right crew, tough decisions and some dirty hands, it’s possible to make it to the top of the city's underworld.
NEW BORDEAUX, A REIMAGINED 1968 NEW ORLEANS:A vast, diverse and seedy open world ruled by the mob and corrupt officials and richly detailed with the sights, sounds and emotionally-charged social atmosphere of the era.
AN UNINTENDED AND LETHAL ANTI-HERO:Be Lincoln Clay, an orphan and Vietnam veteran hell bent on revenge against the Italian Mafia for the brutal slaughter of the black mob, the closest thing to family he’s ever had.
REVENGE YOUR WAY:Choose your own personal play-style, from brute force and blazing guns to stalk-and-kill tactics as you use Lincoln’s military training and gathered intel to tear down the Italian Mafia.
A NEW FAMILY ON THE ASHES OF THE OLD:Build a new criminal empire in your own unique way by deciding which of your lieutenants you reward, and which you betray…

I've had the full game for a while now and to be honest its been a huge disappointment. Just too much driving around with not enough happening to hold your attention.

After playing through the demo on both a high end PC and then on PS4, it demonstrates how bad of a port this game is on PC.
Muddy textures, broken sky box, fps drops everywhere and very tedious gameplay.... And I absolutely loved mafia 2, so it pains me to be this damning.
For me, even at this price, its not worth it. Maybe when it drops to £3 later in the year.

I personally really enjoyed the game.
For this price it's worth playing; it has a fantastic soundtrack, decent story line and a decent combat system. Only thing that was weak for me was the enemy AI but it wasn't game breaking.

How does mafia 3 compare to GTA V, more specifically the campaigns?

I played through the demo of mafia 3 and found it tedious and annoying but that may have been more the overwrought humourless storytelling and time jumps interspersed with minimal uninteresting gameplay in the demo. Needless to say i didn't buy the full game. Very nice graphics though. Mafia 2 had it's faults but I was happy enough to finish it. GTA V has the superior single player, with some much appreciated humour.

The storyline is good, on launch there were a host of graphics and frame rate complaints. Asfaik the FPS issue is sorted but the graphics are still shoddy (I played on console). Car handling is pants, AI is appalling, but overall the game is still good fun. I'd buy it for £7, would have felt peeved at paying over £30 on launch day.
