Sky broadband is currently £19/month for 12 months with £20 upfront charge. Teamed up with £90 cashback from TCB and £75 pre-paid reward card it works out at a staggering low £6.92/month! or £83 over the course of the year

For anyone reading this though, don't bother, it didn't track properly as the email never came through, and to top things off it "tracked" the £75 pre-paid MasterCard which was what we we were going to get anyway as part of the deal. I think they will even want a cut of £5 from it, so from what I've seen up till now, top cash back is a scam or at best is deadly inefficient and time consuming as I've filed a complaint. Thanks for the advice anyway

Hi I followed your advice for joining top cash back for the Sky Broadband, and I was wondering: 1) When does the 90 pounds come into my account? 2) Why has it automatically added me as a "plus" account, and should I downgrade to the classic, will I still get the same offer? (Why should I give them 5 pounds a year) 3) Again I'm not sure if I did it right, I signed up, then I clicked directly on the "Getcashback" part of the website, other than the redirection to the sky link, I felt like the website didn't know that I was applying for cashback, so did I do it right? Kind regards

So for your question 1 and 3 yes you create an account and topcashback and go through the link. I have been having lots of difficulties with tracking on these cashback websites and got an email form topcashback saying I should adjust my settings to ensure cookies are accepted and delete browser history. I did that this time for this order and my order tracked in topcashback in an hour. You should get an email from topcashabck to say your order has been tracked or go to your topcashback account to see whether it is showing this purchase.. If it doesnt you have to wait seven days and lodge a missing claim per the website. Good luck Sorry cant help with 2)

Just gone to sign up to this as left 12 months ago to move to plusnet. Filled in all my details and it says I'm already a BB customer! Found my login details from last year and logged in.
"Good evening Gavin" Your BB bill is due 27/07/17...
It seems they never closed my account last year! They have just set the bill to £0! Thats 11 bills of £0.
So I cant sign up for the offer now. :disappointed:
Need to find a cheap deal elsewhere now.

Thanks for these! Apparently there's an exchange 0.8 miles away from where I live so I reckon the signal should be pretty solid. There a sky record 2 streets further away and it shows 8.9 download and 0.5 upload. Should that be enough for a single person, 3-4 devices connected wirelessly at once, web browsing, media streaming (YouTube, netflix, etc), occasional online game of fifa, or an odd torrent? Many thanks for help!
Edit: sky reports estimates 8.0-15.7 Mbps, think I'll give it a try
However I think that the broadband costs £28.99, I do not think that there is a £75 MasterCard and I'm not sure if the free evening and weekend calls are included. I can't check because I do not have Sky TV.

not true, you just simply make a new email and switch to your partners name. bam = new customer, do this EVERY year works a treat, you don't need to wait 12 months

When you do this do you cancel the old one first and give 30 days notice then just apply with a new name? cheers.

I have just managed to get out of a BT contract for free (lucky me they screwed up my home moving which enabled me to do that). Anyway, I am looking for a new ISP and this looks tempting. I was ideally wanting fibre, but I can't find any reasonable deals atm (I would prefer a 12-month contract opposed to an 18-month contract and only decent deal is with BT which I can't take because I have just left them).
Anyway, do you think this would be suitable for a person living on their own, using broadband for browsing and streaming videos, perhaps occasionally for an online game of fifa (but I do not game much these days due to lack of time). I know it probably depends on distance to exchange, but is there any way to actually check where the closest exchange is or to check real life speed I can expect with this broadband?
Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers:)

I went from Virgin cable to adsl and I get about 16mbps download and 1mbps up with a ping of about 11. It really depends on how close you are to the exchange etc... go on this website and enable speed test results,
hopefully you will see some sky adsl speeds near you. There is no guarantee but you need around 4mbps to stream 1080p video, personally I wouldn't go below about 8mbps but it depends what you want it for. When I signed up to sky they said I should get 11mbps or above so I went for it and its been fine. For this price it's well worth a shot if they can give you a decent speed estimate.
Anyone know if retentions will match this price or similar?

Top cash back. Make an account on their site, find the link to sky cash back, wait for the email saying it tracked and then buy it and you should get it

Until a couple months ago I would've said good deal, but Sky Broadband got crap and their 'helpline' is far from satisfactory. Careful what you're getting as you could be stuck with it for a year with no guarantee that your 'clinching the deal' speed will remain that speed and not be halved irregardless of where you are from the exchange etc.
Good price, but might be you pay for what you get - if you're lucky.

Is it fast enough for, for example, 2 people living in a flat? No gaming, probably a fair bit of video streaming via YouTube. And then just general internet surfing.

Depends on where you live from the exchange..
See I live very close to the exchange, as such I can get 24mb over ADSL2 but becuase I live so close my line is and EO (Exchange Only) Line meaning no green box on my street in fact they had to install one at the exchange for me to get Fibre on my street, the kicker is that my Fibre maxes out at 24mb!!
So if you live close to the exchange then ADSL is fine as long as 24mb MAX will support your needs and from what you describe it will.. but remember to take into account other things, as the stability of the line will almost be far better with fibre than ADSL and as such you will get a more stable connection..

I was looking for the best broadband and TV package but the cheapest I can get a TV package is £25/month. My TV can record anyway so might aswell go with £7/month broadband and just record on the TV rather than waste another £17 a month just to get a Virgin (or any other) TV box. PS I am open to suggestions of good TV & broadband deals if you can find any that are good.
