These are the new bluetooth/NFC wireless noise cancelling headphones from Sennheiser. In this category they're already good value.
These are described as 80/85% of the noise cancelling (same as the PXC 550), features and sound quality of the Bose QC35/Sony MDR 1000X for (in this case) 50-60% less outlay.
Was looking at these today, and even through the EPP programme I have access to via work they still came out at £155.
At £130 these are simply the best wireless portable folding headphones you will get with noise cancelling.
The price won't hang around for long I suspect. Ordered mine for delivery on Friday (£2 more than standard shipping).
Always pay in € not £, your bank will charge you less. Even better if you have a no fee card, or use something like Revolut.

NB, these don't suffer the same issue as the Bose QC's when using ANC and walking/wind, there is no wind whoosh.

They usually take £1 off the card and the rest on dispatch, so assuming your order has been approved by Amazon you'll have time to sort it.

I thought you pay in the local currency eg € to avoid the fee whereas if you pay in £ then amazon will do the conversion and charge their fee. Although im no expert so I could be wrong, can anyone clarify?
The_Hoff
19 Jul 171#19
I chose to pay in € on Amazon. In Revolut my card is topped up in £. Revolut will perform the exchange when Amazon debit the funds, as your bank would otherwise do, the difference being Revolut don't charge for that currency exchange, where as a bank will charge a small fee.
That's how it had always worked for me at least.
Up until now Amazon haven't actually taken the money from my Revolut though. They charge on dispatch.
I presume your € total was the same as mine?

No AptX on the BBP, also 340G(!) versus 227G for the Sennheiser. Warranty with Sennheiser is 2 years, with Plantronics it's 1 year.
Otherwise they're broadly equivalent I'd say from specification.

any ideas how this performs for phone calls? Bose and Sony both have problems in that area. Backbeat pro has a cable with a inline mike, so is better in that respect. I cannot find anything about any cable included or even if we can use a third party inline mic cable with this one.....

does the cable have a mic on it though or will the one incorporate in the headset get used always? If the latter, then based on the positioning of the mic, it might pick up other sounds more - this is the problem with Bose QC 35.
BBP has the mic in the cable such that it will dangle in front of the users mouth so it picks up the users voice more than any surrounding noises.

Yeah, pretty good aren't they?
One issue I have is with noisegard turned on, if I walk heavy footed I can hear a thud in my ear. No issue turning ANC off while walking in fairness, but not noticed it on other ANC headphones... Used to have some Bose but got sick of the wind whoosh when walking.
At £126~ I'm very happy with them.
Ozner
23 Jul 17#58
I had the same issue with a pair bought here in the uk and I personally found that to be a deal breaker. A clear flaw, as noise guard actually created a terrible sound when walking.
Hoped it was only my unit but then I kept reading of other people experiencing it...
The_Hoff
23 Jul 17#59
I haven't found an ANC system that's flawless across any device, it's either horrendous wind noise or this.
thomasrykala
23 Jul 17#60
How do you know when noise cancellation is on? When you long press to on/off it flashes purple lights three times but there's no clear indication when it's on or off . When you turn on the headphones is it turned on by default?
The_Hoff
24 Jul 17#61
ANC is never on by default regardless of if it was on prior to turning off.
Best way to recognise it being on/off is if you have no music/sound playing. When you turn it on you'll notice a slight background noise, sort of like standing in a tunnel, this is the external microphones playing an ambient noise to cancel out the noise around you.
One of the benefits of these having used them some more is just how well they isolate the sound around you without ANC being on. With music playing at low volume there's very little I could hear outside of the music.
The walking noise is a real PITA though.
darecy
24 Jul 17#62
With regards to postage, did you write to amazon Spain or the UK? On my local UK account list order details does not exist.
Sound compared:
to my AKG K551, AKG is better (more crystal clear and more middle range) just a little,
to my Klipsch - Sennheiser way, way better.
The_Hoff
24 Jul 171#63
Contact Amazon UK via chat, tell them as a Prime member you'd like to reclaim the postage costs, give them the order number. They'll transfer the issue to the ES team who will contact you RE a refund.
"I certainly understand that you have placed an order from Amazon.es and the item is shipping from UK warehouse. I certainly understand that you wish to have the delivery charge to be refunded as you a prime member of Amazon.co.uk
In this case, as you placed the order from Amazon.es, I will transfer the contact to the Amazon.es team and they will update you the details via email within 24 hours."
RE sound comparisons, they're not really fair comparisons (if you were expecting them to align), 32mm drivers vs 50mm drivers, portable and foldable on-ear vs over-ear non-folding or portable, wireless vs wired. I mean... my Audeze Sine sound better, but they're 70mm planar magnetic non-folding £350 headphones

Anyone help with Revolut? Registered and used it for the first time for this purchase, using the virtual card. When I log into amazon.es, it prompts me to update/confirm payment details (and says that fine when I re-select the Revolut details). But I'm locked out of my Revolut app - was prompted to add the 4 digits from my debit card top up. Did that this morning, scanned the card (as prompted) and then got even more locked out!
I'm not sure whether the amazon.es purchase will go through but also there's not a lot of help on the Revolut app.
The_Hoff
25 Jul 17#69
Use the chat feature within the app. They're pretty helpful.
Otherwise try following these steps:
If your account is blocked, there are two key things you should do:
Verify your identity:
If you open the app you should be given the option to ‘Verify your identity’. You will be prompted to take a photo of your international drivers licence/passport and a photo of yourself. Your account should be verified within 15 minutes. Please go to the Profile section of our support for more information on how to do this.
Confirm your top up card:
You should also be given the option to ‘Verify your card’. To do this, you just need to look at your online banking and find a recent top up to Revolut which looks like Revolut1234. Then, you need to go onto the app and enter the 4-digit code here. That’s it!
Ta. I literally have no options in the app - I enter my PIN and just get a 'your account is blocked and we'll be in touch' kind of message. There's a pink button for support/chat but that is just a bot which says they can help with locked accounts.
I've sent them a DM via Twitter with the full story. Ta.
mjb1975
25 Jul 17#71
Cor! What an absolute ball-ache. Contacted Revolut support - wanted pictures of bank statements, my photo, my id, photo of me holding id. That's not that outrageous but then they wanted proof of a card which I didn't use to top up (I went to, then changed to a different card so they know the details). I don't have said proof to hand (at work, can't log in to that account without a card reader which is at home) so suggested they just delete that card as I'll never use it. Not good enough - still wanted proof. Then the pictures I provided earlier were too big so I had to do them again. At that point I just asked them to return my initial top up. It's more trouble than it's worth!
Appreciate not everyone has had that experience and if you make transactions overseas regularly, fair enough, but my word was that hard work for no gain!
The_Hoff
25 Jul 17#72

Just to clarify around the use of these, ANC (noise cancelling) is ON by default. Unfortunately the LED indicator is useless, it blinks the same colour and number of times whether you turn it on or off (dumb).
If you out them on with them switched off and power them on (with no music playing) when in a suitable environment you'll immediately notice the background noise drop.
I've been wearing them a lot with no music even playing in the office, a great aid for concentration.

Used them on the tube this morning and my it was such a different experience from when I was using Beats! I could actually hear the background sound in the track. Not sure if these or the Sony ones are better tbh, but for the price I'm happy with what I've got.

NC only ever stops continuous low frequency, it won't ever completely cut out a baby crying or more infrequent percussion.

You are definitely right, however later when I went out with Spotify and the HD 4.50 - much better, more convenient, cable free and more reach with sound. Previously I was listening on my Yamaha amp...

I'm not sure whether the amazon.es purchase will go through but also there's not a lot of help on the Revolut app.
That’s it!

I've sent them a DM via Twitter with the full story. Ta.
Appreciate not everyone has had that experience and if you make transactions overseas regularly, fair enough, but my word was that hard work for no gain!
Try Monzo, same deal and Revolut.
If you out them on with them switched off and power them on (with no music playing) when in a suitable environment you'll immediately notice the background noise drop.
I've been wearing them a lot with no music even playing in the office, a great aid for concentration.
Also i have communicated with the distribution center and they informed me that because this is an international shipment, there has been delays in the process of logistics of international shipping, due to the availability of international carrier, and the shipping method chosen for this order, but this situation has been resolved and your product will be shipped soon.
I requested to speed up this delivery meet the estimated delivery date (lunes 31 de julio de 2017).
Could be that they were low on stock hence the fluctuation in price and delivery dates.
First time using headphones with NC so my expectations were a bit over the top, I thought I wasn't supposed to hear any outside noise!
Used them on the tube this morning and my it was such a different experience from when I was using Beats! I could actually hear the background sound in the track. Not sure if these or the Sony ones are better tbh, but for the price I'm happy with what I've got.
