I bought the same watch with a blue dial a few weeks back for 70 or 80. Excellent watch and I took it into store to get it adjusted for free

The Quartz is powered by Kinetic energy held in a capacitor not a battery.

Actually it's both.
A rotating pendulum inside the case is attached to a relatively large gear which meshes with a very small pinion. As the wearer moves, the pendulum turns and spins the pinion at a very high speed - up to 100,000 rpm. This is coupled to a miniature electrical generator which charges a storage device which is a capacitor(s) or a rechargeable battery.

Good deal, I ended up taking the plunge for one, I have a few Seiko Kinetics and they are great watch. I think once it arrives I'll be removing the strap and putting on a NATO or Perlon strap to change it up a little, should be a nice daily.

I've gone for it. I've been after a solid casual watch for months, but could never find one as nice as this, plus £70 is a steal for a kinetic Seiko.

I have an older version of the same watch bought in US back in 2006 and it is still going . I have worn it daily since then with a break of 8 months as I was tired of it. So would recommend it to anyone.

The leather one looks nice too. I went for the metal but really hope it comes black! I bought a titanium kinetic Seiko 10 years ago and it's great, I just got a little bored of it and I chipped the face of the glass :disappointed: also got a few scratches on the bracelet :disappointed:

If you Google the model number SKA 707PL it shows it with more of a grey rather than black case - still a nice looking watch though and have just ordered it!!!

great watches, still got mine from 1990 and it is used daily, had to fit a new capacitor a few years ago but it is simple to do and i also need to put it on my home made winder (old kenwood ice cream maker) once every six months to give it a good charge up.

To be honest, I think the images used by Argos are simply poor and thus the Silver will look better than it appears. With only 8 left I took the plunge. :grin:

Just received mine. Happy to say it's the darker model, as in post 19.

Just received mine, which looks like the "black" version, which I'm starting to think is the only colour available for this model anwyay. It just looks silver in the pictures because Argos are bad at photography or w/e.

Agree, bad photo. Dark looks better though in my opinion.

Received mine today. Very nice watch (albeit the kinetic winding mechanism is quite loud compared to others I've had). The "ion" colour is really nice and quite subtle. Like a slight gun metal grey rather than black.

Took some pics next a casio watch as a comparison. Somewhat difficult to notice with a lot of light bouncing off it.

Mine arrived today also. It's a beautiful slate grey/gun metal grey colour rather than just plain SS colour. I'm pleased as it looks a lot darker in person, which I love!

Received Mine today and as with other watches, mine is the light gun metal, blued grey version. Not sure I got a totally "new" one as the Argos "QC Opened and checked" sticker was on box, tag was off, plastic on back, no plastic on watch face and only plastic on strap was two small pieces on inside and tiny bits on outside of strap where pins fit.

Regards the model number, my tag says SKA707 and a quick google confirms that SKA707 is exactly what I go. Very pleased with watch. :grin:

Anyone else concerned about the amount of charge their watch is holding?

Pressing the top button mine won't jump forward any more than about 3 seconds.

Thanks Baldricky, I have been giving it some vigorous movement :sunglasses: over the last 24 hours. Reassuring to know yours is about the same though.

Hopefully it will build up nicely over the next week or so.

Well I just gave the watch 5 minutes of gentle side to side "wrist movement"rocking back and forth and I got the watch to 10 seconds. Were I still a teenager, I am sure I'd have it fully charged by sunrise. :grin:

Anyone had to remove some links? Will Argos do it? Mines just a little too big so advice would be appreciated. Thanks for posting bargain Hunter the watch is an absolute bargain for £70.

I removed the links using a sim key push through from the side the arrows on the inside of the strap show you. Search YouTube for seiko link removal it's on one of the videos. I removed one from each side of strap took about 5 minutes each

Thanks for the info on taking the links out, worked a treat. What i did was take one from each side but the clasp was not central on the back of my wrist. So ended up removing two from the bottom part of the bracelet as viewed instead. Now perfect front and back..Still can't believe it was £70. :thumbsup:

Any chance you have a side by side photo comparison of the two lovely watches? Would be great to see if there's a distinct difference between the two :smile:

They look exactly the same WK10. Still prefer the look of the leather but when mine arrived the stainless watch looked a bit dishevelled in its packaging so I decided to wear that one. I'll either keep the second or gift it to someone so better I keep the one that looked factory fresh. All in all, quite a nice watch, heavy but not too heavy, big but not too big, it does have quite a loud kinetic movement but it's not noticeable when you just wear and charge the watch normally. I'll be keeping an eye on how well it charges for a month or so but only time will tell if everything is OK there. Poor light for the pictures, sorry, did my best.

Anyone managed to get the power reserve up to 30 Seconds (6 months)?
After continuous wear and a bit of swinging side to side I have mine up to 20 seconds (one month), however if I take off overnight, it drops to 10 Seconds (one week). that doesn't really add up as after getting it to 20 seconds I have kept wearing and winding moving side to side.

The most i managed was 10 secs both after wearing it all day and shaking it for about 10 minutes. I have tried the braun charger and that doesn't work and i am too mean to spend a load on official chargers (defeats the point of getting a bargain.) Thought i might try hanging it on a piece of string and pointing a fan at it. That's my next project anyway. Any ideas out there? Seems after googling it folks have come up with all weird and wonderful ideas. I know i could just keep wearing it but i still doubt it would reach a 30 sec charge. :thinking:

Got it to 30s after a treadmill session but dropped back to 20s the day after.

Well I gave it 90 minutes on the drill and it never increased from 20 to 30. Took the watch off for 12 Hours and it dropped to 10. Put watch on and ten minutes later it is showing 20.

Well if worn 24/7 mine seems to maintain the 20 Secs, (18 secs rapid, 2 ticks, then waits to catch up). Dunno if it will change or improve with time but I'll be calling out the warranty if need be.

They sold a blue version kinectic before this one ...i have since sent it back that one was faulty remained at 5 seconds after a week of wearing it ....this one is on 20 seconds for me but i like this watch better so i will keep it

Have to say i am beginning to think these are old stock and the capacitor doesn't hold a charge. After vigorous shaking for half an hour it went to 20 secs. An hour later it was back to 5 secs. another 5 minutes shaking went back to 10 secs then 5 minutes later back to 5 seconds. Never having had a kinetic watch before i was not sure what to expect, but after reading this post i'm worried .If the movement creates a magnetic field in the coils it should charge the capacitor. If it drops back quickly i can only assume the said capacitor is knackered through being left for years without a charge. Any thoughts would be appreciated but as much as i like the watch i'm tempted to return it.

I have had the braun charger work and also the phillips imageo candles charger.

Its all about postioning you will have to play around with different placings

But the watch has to hold it's charge, and it seems that mine will not. Does yours?

All gone quite now........I hope your watches are ok. I know it was a bargain but if it won,t hold a charge then to me it is faulty. I have requested a return which is approved, so may just look for a good deal on a watch with a battery.

Mines holding its charge. After wearing for a week it's at the 30 second interval every time I check it. Never had an issue with jumping from 10 to 20 to 5 to 10 etc. It says there's no need for vigorous shaking, so I just stuck it on my arm and wore it.

Just to update, I am pleased to advise that having held steady at 20 second charge, my watch now shows the full 30 seconds charge after wearing for all but one day of the last week. Based on experiences to date, I have to assume the watch likes to charge itself "naturally".

This is such a lovely watch the face ...the bracelet and the lume are fantastic plus i have the 6 months charge .... fast becoming the favourite watch in my stable does not beat my sarb033 though

Well for what it's worth I had the watch off for 3 or 4 weeks and charge still showing the 20 seconds.

Furthermore, it seems I now have the full 30 seconds charge.... the world is indeed a wonderful place.:D
