but if you buy a used hardrive will you not only get 1 years warranty from amazon ? i am sure i read a somewhere online that someone sent a hardrive for repair in the second year of warranty and had to send proof of purchase which stated the drives condition as used like new and they refused to provide warranty , correct me if i am wrong

Keep looking in the "used" space for Amazon Warehouse deals. I regularly buy them (in random colours) around this price and apart from the packaging they tend to be like-new. I am running about 10 of these using BTRFS as two volumes under plex - letting Linux sleep them to save life when not used. So far only one failure out-of-the-box. Fingers crossed they last a few years and don't all fail at once.
Seconded, can get some crazy cheap prices on there and unlike the actual main amazon listings even blatant misprices seem to get honoured, presumably as they only have an odd one they want shot of, so sometimes can be some ridiculous pricing and combined with 20% off can be a really shoppers paradise....

I grabbed the 4tb Seagate Expansion 2017 Portable USB3 drive for 85.55 with damaged box. Seems like a crazy good deal compared to the cheapest they've been.
Warehouse deals is definitely where the real hidden gems are.

Rather get the 8tb Seagate Back up drive for £20 extra. Although this is portable and the other isn't

Decent, not totally amazing deal. Though in the context of today's high storage prices it's no surprise it went in a flash. Hope they bring it back as there is obviously tonnes of demand for them...

Average deal imo. It was selling for £118 yesterday and now its gone up to 133 and then down to £104. Fake sale price for starters.
Secondly you can still get seagate 4tb for £107 at scan.co.uk and other places. Maxtor M3 4tb also available for same price.
Miss the times whem amazon had genuine and good deals!

Missed the deal!!! thanks for the heads up from Scan tho. I know what you mean about fake Amazon prime sale. Was looking to get a Water Butt for the garden in the Prime sale it was £27.99! however a week earlier I was looking at it for £24.99, not as good as we all think. Don't get me wrong some items are good value.
