Because most people prefer the cosy look they're used to at night rather than stark and clinical. Cool/daylight bulbs are very good for working under, not relaxing.

None in my local Poundland - no other pound shops near me as I live rurally.
For me, this is a great price for them - and NO I haven't had a 30% payrise - bit of an odd comment methinks!

BTW out of interest what is the wattage of the pound shop ones? Need at least 9W to light up a room - any less than that is pointless!

Got a pack of these a couple of weeks ago when they dropped the prices of all their Diall bulbs. Very pleased with them, they're not 60W equivalent despite claims, you'd need 11W ones for that, definitely brighter than an old 40W though.

I relax just fine in cool and daylight though YMMV. I'm finding more and more people enjoying the look and benefits of cool and daylight white.

Depends on the room, I use warm in the living room/bedroom but daylight in the bathroom/kitchen.

These are great bulbs forget the cheap poundland ones I have had these in my whole house for 3 years including 6 in the kitchen alone not one failed.tried others including IKEA all have failed lap/dial stuff seems good quality.

Poundland ones are only 3W I believe. Only good for small spaces. Hot!

Had my Philips ones now for like 6 years, not one has died.... LEDs are so much better because they cannot fool us with the built in obselecence like they got away with using incadecence bulbs.

That's the power consumption, not the light output. The amount of light you get for 9W input will depend on the efficiency of the bulb.

Generally its a little under 10:1 on LEDs:incandescent, but like you say it depends on the LEDs in question and also the design of the reflectors.

I find the daylight tends to make skin tones quite grey, even the 3000k "warm" ones, especially in a bathroom mirror for example, so always go for the 2700k now.

I assume they are selling these off now as aren't the more efficient filament type less starting to replace these? I've got a couple of filament ones and think the light is better and also they are pretty much 360° like an old style incandescent. These LEDs leave a shadow on the ceiling.

These 9W lamps claim to be 60W equivalent, so rather less than 10:1. I find them pretty good though.

Yeah, but thats due to reflector design mainly. Standard LEDs are very directional, its a **** to get them to work like a 'normal' bulb. As stated above the filament design are much better in my eyes, I fitted out a wedding dress shop with those (5 chandeliers at 6 bulbs each) and they are almost indistinguishable from halogens but use 10% of the energy.

Old style LEDs are great in spotlights, but I've never been too happy with B22/E14s.

Had a few of these Screwfix LED bulbs, also family. All very impressed as they are brighter than their 60w stated.

What you are referring to is the colour rendering. CRI values of > 80 mean that things look like they are supposed to. Cheaper LEDs like these rarely mention CRI values. Something like Philips or Osram will always have a CRI of 80 or more; thus rendering colour as it is supposed to be. Cheap LEDs generally have a poor CRI unless you are willing to pay more and get a well made one.

But if you are not sensitive to such changes, then get these. This is a great price.

Did you mean to say that using daylight lighting before bedtime can upset your sleep? I use daylight most of the time, switching to a warmer light an hour before bed works for me. :smiley:
