The 200g boxes are currently buy one get one free at Marks and Spencer, so it works out as 400g for £2.
The expiry date on the ones I saw was Jan 2018.

"HOMEBAKED taste" - with HOMEBAKED IN CAPITALS, shouting it at you from the box! - Mass produced in a factory, probably in Coventry or somewhere else nowhere near Scotland.

Exactly, it's all about the phrasing. 'Homebake style' and 'homebaked taste' shows that in no way have these been anywhere closer to a kitchen than your own.

Lidl do a shortbread finger at 49p for 210g ie better than half this price and they are excellent quality.
