Lowest price I've seen these for for a while. Great boots, currently all sizes available though only in green at this price

So from what I understand from comments - these used to be great, but not recently as lots of people had sole related issues within an year or two.
Will something like sportsdirect.com/kar…016 will be the better option? (cheaper and with vibram and waterproof etc.)

share your thoughts, last two pairs of Salomon boots both developed splits in the same place after a year's use, sad cos they used to be a premium brand

I had a great pair of Salomon boots for about 6 years and they were faultless up until the end when the sole was too worn and a leak appeared. Now I have Scarpa and they are also bombproof

Berghaus Explorer Trex IV GTX for the last five years (running two pairs) can't recommend enough and can be had for same price as this £90.00 (RRP. £130.00) on Amazon with free returns, etc. Proven for over ten years with this model on market. Standard sized UK 11 feet fit great in Berghaus Size UK 11 with mid weight socks (for me anyway). I would go up a half a size in Salomon footwear as they run small (for me anyway) but better still try them on. Like all Gortex footwear and gear it will need to be reproofed by Gortex recommended protect i.e. Nikwax every six months if using regularly or when wetting out. Cheers All

This is an awesome deal - been wanting to get them for a while but even Amazon sells for at least £105 (dependant on size) or $130+ for my size!
I just went to Snow & Rock to price match them, so got it in time for a weekend hike! thanks OB! awesomeness!;)

Always best to get fitted in a shop before buying boots. Never buy online unless returns policy is great, such as Amazon.

Brasher is not brasher anymore. Bought out by berghaus and quality dropped. Also different shops appear to source from different factories. Go outdoors reviews are all terrible but same boots at Cotswold outdoors get better reviews.

They are made in different factories around the world and the quality depends on which factory they are made at. The sole is the major weak point in this boot - it wears quickly, so not suitable for granite/rocky terrain - and falls apart if you are not lucky with where it is made. The bottom sole separates from the rest of the shoe. Yes they are narrow fitting so will be an issue for people with wider feet and those that don't factor in thick hiking socks.

These should not be worn everyday. But to be fair to them, when I had the first version of these boots, they replaced them for me in New Zealand during my first RTW trip at no cost after the material started to show signs of damage.

They were made in the uk they were a great company. Now made in China I bought 2 pairs one for me and my wife. The soles fell off both pairs complete and utter rubbish like the customer service. Look at brasher lifetime gaurintee. My first pair lasted 10 years got rid as the sole had no tred left. Don't waste ur money

Blacks, and their sister companies also price match and according to their terms will take a further 10% off. Show the assistant the price on your smart phone and they should reduce.
My advice is to always buy a size bigger if doing long walks/hikes, your feet will swell up walking all day plus you'll more than likely have thicker socks on than normal.

+1 for that - Salomon come up very narrow - I wore them for years. They felt fine, but I developed long term nerve damage due to the slightly narrower width of the toe box.

Avoid if your feet are slightly wider than normal. Salomon have a tendency to be thin and cater for the narrower foot.

Absolutely fine in wet conditions. Used them last winter in the mountains. Dry feet. Best boots I've owned. Paid a lot more than this for them. Great find.
Sizing is spot on as well. I'm a 10 and wear a 10 in these.

Should you be ordering at least a half size up for these?

These get very good reviews when new, however these are the only walking boots that I see which have completely shredded and worn out soles - they don't appear to be hard wearing, so not suitable for regular use - although most people will only need to use them once or twice a year if only used for hiking rather than street wear.
