The 1st of September is the day students head off to Hogwarts, and this year it’s 19 Years Later – the actual date that the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ends and our play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, begins.
To mark this date, we’re celebrating with an exclusive one-off FRIDAY 400! On Friday 4th August, at 4pm we’re releasing 400 tickets priced at £40 (£20 per part) for the performances of Parts One and Two on Friday the 1st September 2017.
How to get the chance to purchase tickets

To enter the FRIDAY 400 please visit THIS PAGE on Friday 4th August. Tickets will be released when the countdown reaches zero at 4pm.
From 3.30pm BST you will be able to click on the button below, where you will enter a virtual waiting room until tickets become available to buy from 4pm. At 4pm, customers in the waiting room will be selected at random for the opportunity to purchase a maximum of 2 tickets for both Parts One and Two.
You can join the virtual waiting room any time from 3.30pm to 4pm, it will not affect your chances of being selected. The randomisation of the selection process is to enable the purchase of tickets to be fair to all our patrons, and to enable us to protect fans access to tickets, by removing bots and ticket touts.
(Visit the link)
It's probably worth looking here for seats at the same price known as the Friday Forty
harrypottertheplay.com/uk/…on/
Theoretically tickets for both performances are available from £30, £40, £85, £115, £135, or £140 but when looking, the cheapest seats I could find were over £100 on any day

With regard to these tickets. They don't say where they are! The Palace Theatre has 1400 seats. Approximately 333 are in the balcony. Many seats there have restricted views. The next level is the 'Grand' Circle, where seats at the back will have a restricted view of the stage.

At most London theatres, the cheap seats with restricted views are sold off to ticket agencies etc as 'reduced price' seats to punters who generally don't seem to complain because they are cheaper than normal!

I haven't seen it yet but tickets are readily available. Just go to the official website and click on Buy Tickets which takes you to the two official ticket sellers. They always receive returned tickets on a daily basis.

The ticket office allow you to return normal tickets for a £5 fee (I think £5/per ticket). I would phone them now to be honest.... It's incredibly late as it's now the same day But they might be able to re-sell to people outside the theatre.

I managed to get tickets oddly on 1st Sept a couple weeks ago for £40. It's possible to get tickets if you are not fussy about dates. Just keep checking randomly for cheaper tickets if you don't wish to pay £125 plus. If you will pay £125 plus for both parts then just check 4 weeks in advance there are usually some tickets available.

Harry Potter, WOW!

Some people love living in the past don't they hahahaha?!

Definitely not sad adult males being into made up wizards or children's books.....

Think it's a bit odd that OP main interest seems to be computers and recording devices. No kids deals whatsoever, then this.

Seems like a genuine parent/ adult.

That enjoys filming very seriously.....

I bought part 1 and 2 for the same day from somebody as it was last minute and their friend had dropped out.
It was at the very back of the theatre and the view was poor, so if you do get them seats sell them

According to the box office there is nothing available and don't trust their own website. Orders will fall out of the basket. I called them after trying almost every date for both shows and 2 people. :disappointed:

Yes there are a few in August, but these are over £100! (as I said) and the tickets you show are in the very back row of the Dress Circle!

28 Jul 17 #17
And I forgot to ask, why is this so hot?
All it is, is a (very poor) chance to possibly get a cheap ticket like every Friday already.

Friday 40 is different (according to them) you pay £40 but your seat(s) can be anywhere in the house. It's probably better than the Friday 400 because they haven't said yet where the 400 seats are going to be. I've emailed them to ask but I haven't received a reply yet, as soon as I do, I'll put the answer here. I suspect, as I intimated in my original post, that they'll be the worst seats in the house! in which case they won't be much of a bargain theoretically. However as cheap seats seem almost impossible to get now until January 2018 (at least!) it is a way of getting a cheap seat!
However as I mentioned first here in my OP  the Friday 40 may be better as the seats can anywhere in the house, but if you get stuck in some restricted view balcony seat, then they're not worth having at any price! I have not been in this theatre, but other theatres' cheap seats in the slips, at the back of the balcony and sometimes even lower down are terrible. The only reason for going and sitting in them is just to say that you've been! .

The Friday Forty works fine. The reason most people thinks it's pants is because there are so few winners. There are only 160 tickets up for grabs in total each Friday. As each 'winner' can buy two there are only 80 successful people.
At 1pm the book now appears. If it doesn't you just refresh. You have around 2-3 mins to enter the virtual queue - you don't have to be fastest finger first at precisely 1pm. At around 1.04pm successful people are picked at random from the virtual queue. If your wizard hasn't moved by 1.05 you can assume you won't be successful (I've sat through it many times)
The time I was successful the wizard appeared at the start - after only a few seconds it moved to half way across the screen. It then moved towards the right hand side of the screen over the course of about a minute. It then let me select a date for tickets for the following week.

As already mentioned I've seen the show twice. Once via Friday Forty and then I bought late release tickets for April this year. I've also helped about a dozen work colleagues buy tickets by keeping an eye on the late availability. I've never had a problem with the website. I think the box office only deal with tickets on the day for people queuing (I heard this, don't know if it's true). I've just looked again and August is still showing availability. I always use the Nimex part of the official site as they own the theatre. They usually show availability slightly ahead of ATG.

Friday 40 system is shocking. It's like a really poor version of Amazon's first year of black Friday when thousands of people wait to hit buy first. First the book tickets tab doesnt appear so you have to hit refresh. Then you hit enter now and the little wizard doesn't appear. Then he does but doesn't go anywhere. After a wait with nothing to show progress he scoots to the end in a flash and sold out appears. Chrome, edge, explorer, pc or phone. All the same.
I would assume the 400 day will be equally as poor.

Friday Forty is mostly front row of the stalls. I managed to get a pair in January after trying every week for 6 months.
Full price for the late release tickets (for shows in the next couple of weeks) are either £200 or £250 for both parts. These tickets are in excellent locations and the prices (per show) are similar to other popular London shows like Lion King and Les Miserables.
If you are flexible with dates and can go at short notice these late release are ideal if you can stomach the high cost. They generally release more on a weekly basis.
The cheap tickets in the balcony (4th level) are only £40-£60 and are sold out months in advance. They may be cheaper but the view from up there is terrible.
The best seats in my opinion having been all around the theatre are in the Dress Circle as close to the centre isle as possible. The stalls are also good but the rake isn't very steep so your view can be blocked by a tall person sat in front of you.

I've seen this show twice. It's breathtaking and I'm not even a potter fan.
Tickets are easy to get if you don't mind paying full price. I checked last week and almost every date in August had availability. 31568409-sPep5.jpg31568409-bWHX9.jpg

Full price is £250! It's complicated as you need to see both performances. I've looked now, and AFAICT from one of the agents you would need to spend at least £100 for a ticket for both. There quite a in August. Almost none in September. None in October, November December or January 2018! Maybe you can get returns on the night but (I think) you will have to pay full price for them

Seen this once, and going to see it again next month! It's a fantastic play, and the on stage magic blows you away! Only downside is it's a very very long play in an uncomfortable old theatre haha

PS
I didn't think I would like it as it doesn't include any? of the original cast for fairly obvious reasons!
However, it's been very well reviewed, and, AFAICT is almost completely sold out!
