Why are there absolutely no half decent deals on PS4 Pros right now!

There will be deals on black friday. Especially as the xbox one is due for release on 7th Nov. Sony will want to lure new players or keep existing ones - not everyone can afford both consoles. At the minute there is no competition for the pro but come November, Sony will need to attract the buyers. Yes it's already cheaper than the xbox but technically it is an inferior spec so unless they make it a no brainer with the price you'll always have a number of people who want the best spec etc. Sub £300 before I'll bite.

This interview makes it sound like there'll be a Pro price drop on the run up to Xmas:
This is hotukdeals, not hotblackfridaydeals. Ridiculous

I got a PS4 Pro for £210 a few weeks ago. Not Black Friday. Think before you type, please.

Amazon warehouse deals had 20% off. a "like new" PS4 pro was £260. The controller "didn't turn up" so got £50 refund making it £210.
Sold my standard PS4 for £100 so realistically only cost me £110. Bargain!

Not worth it with Xbox Scorpion in November.

24 Jul 17#38
Firstly it's Scorpio. Secondly it's not even called that anymore. Thirdly it costs £100 more solus. Lastly it's coming out with no games really worthy of the investment.

Mine ended up about £260 on release. Flubit offer at £293 off the back of feeding a Tesco direct link where they had temporarily dropped the pro price to £299 in error and Flubit had 10% cashback offer at the time on demands.

Is this like the price drop that was going to happen at E3 when the X was announced?

They probably didn't want to jump the gun. They know they can still make more money up to the point there's a product on the market. It's been 350 for over year now. Even if it was only a 20 or 30 drop

I'm not in any rush but it's a long wait to be honest, my guess/hope is there'll be some really nice deals on Black Friday and then a standard reduction to around £300 a few weeks after that

Even though I don't think Sony need to lower the price of the Slim or the Pro as I don't see the XOX threatening them to much. But I do think come October/November Sony will probably lower the RRP on the Pro to £299.

There's no Pro slim with a UHD drive coming, it's another rumour that was doing the rounds before E3 along with the price drop of the Pro
steveex

I am sure I read somewhere a Pro Slim c/w UHD drive was imminent? A few thoughts on the Pro, for what it's worth. I bought one about 10 months or so ago from Amazon. they had some discounted units in a warehouse sale. With an additional 20% off for Prime members, plus a refund i received for not finding headset in the box, i paid a little over £200, to which all things considered (for a unit that looked brand new to me) was good value. I also have a Samsung KS7000 TV, 10 Bit with 1000 NIT (or thereabouts) HDR. Is the Pro worth the premium over the base model? I think it really depends on just how important (sometimes relatively insignificant) increased visual fidelity is. There are games, Horizon a good example, where improvements are clear, but I would never classify them as vast. At 4K, things are sharp. Wipeout looks great. You might get a slightly improved draw distance on others, maybe improved shadow detail (does anyone on consoles really care about shadow detail?) minor improvements to lighting effects etc etc etc. This is at it's best. Down the scale of improvements there are plenty of halfway houses, checkerboard rendering, 1440p etc, slight improvements to dynamic resolution scaling. The thing is, these are still the self same games you're playing on the PS Slim. You might get a few more FPS, but if it's locked/capped 30FPS on the slim, it's 30FPS on the Pro. Having had one for nearly a year now, would I pay £350 for a machine? No, I don't honestly think i would. I don't have PSVR, so can't comment on it's performance influence. I was very keen to obtain an Xbox One X, I love Halo and Forza, and have always picked MS machine over PS, as i preferred the Xbox exclusives. My experience with the Pro (which i have enjoyed owning) and now understanding that you are buying what i consider often quite minor visual bells and whistles to stock gameplay has to be honest dampened my enthusiasm to forking out the premium over my much enjoyed Xbox One S

Pro + Horizon + COD IW + Wipeout + Controller (I think)
Basically the same as the days of play sale
I'm personally waiting for Pro to go sub £300 before I buy one, maybe Black Friday will be kind

Same here. I bought into the whole "there'll be a price drop" talk. Now all the decent deals seem to have dried up, and I doubt it'll even have a drop once the X is out.

I would love it to drop to £250 but can't see it happening. I have the Xbox one s for the blu-ray drive but I tend to game on the PS4.
slannmage
22 Jul 17#7
It has to be £250 before I bother, the lack of a 4K blu-ray drive killed it for me as I was looking to buy one for Planet Earth 2... instead I'll get an Xbox One X. I know you can stream it, but the quality is never as good and my internet speed is always so slow despite being 320mbps.

I can see sony dropping the pro price near or soon after the x comes out.

Wish that I bought the prime day deal for £350. The only reason that I didn't is that I thought that the £350 bundle price would be the normal going forwards.

Some people got lucky and got PS4 Pro, 3 games and either extra controller, or refunded cost of one, for £350. Incorrect listing on prime day that Amazon honoured for anyone that ordered before they realised and changed the listing.

With Microsoft pitching the Xbox one X at £450 there really isn't any need for Sony to reduce the Pro as it is already the more affordable option.
