If people play Fifa over this then they need thier head sorting, PES is by far a better game in terms of gameplay.

You'd be surprised, with FIFA turning into an EA Ultimate Team money pot and the yearly momentum/scripting, players are switching to PES for a more truer football experience. Also Option Files can be downloaded and installed within an hour easily which provides much more licensing and authenticity than FIFA.

Note that last year the beta and demo were a different experience to the main game. No scripting and felt very promising but they went ahead and ruined it for the actual release...
Both are scripted money pots now, only a fanboy would argue differently.

PES should add a Pro Clubs mode.
It's the only reason I buy FIFA.

PES reminds me of Blackberry.
It's undoubtedly the superior product but a general lack of uptake for various reasons means that it's not viable to be the outlier and choose PES over FIFA unless you only play offline. If you play online or you have a few mates round etc, you can't whip PES out because nobody plays it.

Have been FIFA man since '11... so will take a lot to sway me Back to PES! But will try the Beta...

Not strictly true - if you play friendlies against the computer you will notice an unparalleled freedom of movement, responsiveness and freedom of expression that you simply don't have in the online and Master League modes which frequently feel like you're wrestling against the AI and your players are deliberately sabotaging your goalscoring chances. The scripting in Master League mode is so, so bad, it's barely even disguised. It often feels like you've only scored because the AI "allowed" it rather than it being skill.

I think it's best to wait for the PES 18 demo at least if you want an improved impression of the game before trying out the main game. This beta is to test the servers (which imo I am glad they're doing so as online is the weakest point of the game) and the co op mode.

The "scripting" in PES can be countered if you set up your tactics and switch them around during gameplay (which usually does the trick in stopping the "scripting" and helps keep your team in control). A useful tool I find is to use the defensive line adjustments with the dpad, which allows your team to stay settled against any attack adjustments of the opposition. Master League does have adjustments but they are mainly dependent on how well you are doing through the season, you'll have easy games and hard games just like a real season of football.

Same here, shame pes hasn't got it

I get that there's easy and hard games in real football, it's just badly implemented in-game; you shouldn't be able to run Man CIty ragged with the same lineup and formation that lost to Hull last week. I tend to find that the AI still doesn't score many past me even when it's clearly "cheating" me out of goals, I just find my strikers mis-control, misfire and the goalkeeper (and crossbar) become unbeatable. The opposite also occurs sometimes though, I've had games where I've been handed goals by the AI through dreadful goalkeeping / defending, seemingly for the sole purpose of creating artificial drama. I played a game recently where the AI team (Southampton) gave me 3-4 good chances in the last 3 minutes of a 1-1 draw, where I eventually scored through a goalkeeping mistake (palming a shot straight at him into the corner) after I'd missed the first few. I accept it needs some measure of behavioural scripting, but it needs to feel more natural - NBA 2K series a good example as it mirrors players going "hot and cold" during a game.

3 vs 3 human co-op not working. 3 vs 3 coop against COM is good. Nice addition of user stats. Reminds me of those halcyon EA Hockey days on the Megadrive.

PES has been undoubtedly the best football game for years. I still buy it on release every year.

Let's not exaggerate, or be blinded by loyalty - PES had its down years, where FIFA becme tops, but PES is now making a clear resurgence with the gameplay they should have had years ago (This coming from a true out and out PES fan)

Had a number of games now, unbeaten. The amount of people that quit when they are losing is stupid! It's an unranked beta.. I don't get why they bother

After the horror that is FIFA 17 and having 12 months EA Access I think this season's football game for me will be PES 2018

Agreed. Even if I'm getting beat I stick with it because my whole purpose for playing the beta is purely to see what it plays like.

Played fifa from 99 to 2016. Finally seen the light that is PES. Much more authentic and engaging - money will be well spent.
