Another cracking month from the boys from Japan!

Always wanted to play JC3 but the performance issues always put me off. But it seems the Pro's Boost Mode improves it, so be rude not to give it a bash now

Not sure about the Vita games, probably never play them, but will 'purchase'

As opposed to what, popping candies? Or maybe shooting another 12 year old in the face? Horses for courses my friend  With all the different weapons and vehicles in this game I found it anything but repetitive

What's with all this AAA bilge they've been giving us in recent months. Bring back the indies!

(I'm being silly. Downwell is great, and I might even install JC3)

If you change your mind about a purchase made from the PlayStation®Store, you can request a refund to your PSN wallet within 14 days from the date of transaction, provided that you have not started downloading or streaming your purchase.

if you havent downloaded it yet , you can get a refund  never tried it so dont know how easy/laborious the process is

Good month, yet again.
Already have JC3 and I enjoyed it so much that I bought the DLC as well. The performance issues really aren't that bad and as someone has said, the worst thing is the bike handling.

Good luck everyone with the wingsuit trials.

Deluded gamer here. Having had a different, more positive experience, I enjoyed completing JC3 this time last year. Had pretty minimal performance issues and after trading it in, recently found myself waiting for a sale to get it again with the dlc, and now just need the Dlc so I'm happy.

Also, I nominate tony hawks pro skater 5 if we're tossing around 'worst game on ps4' accolades.:D

I'm sorry but there's just no way you experienced no issues.. Is your PS4 special or something lol, seriously how can you say you didn't notice any performance issues when its so bad? Are you blind? Sorry but there just no way you experienced no issues... Either you're lying or delusional. I could believe it if you were playing on PC where everyone has different setups but not on PS4 where they are the same and run the same.. Even PS4 Pro has performance issues with it! You must be a JC3 Dev lol.

I was disappointed in what could've been a decent party game.

Although it has good visuals and sound, it's the gameplay that counts, which is uninteresting and repetitive.

The concept has potential though.

So the moment someone expresses an opinion that differs from your own, suddenly they're either lying or delusional? :joy: I have been playing it on and off for the past year and haven't had any problems, I actually put in a couple of hours last night. The game looks amazing and runs absolutely fine so, from my experience, I can only assume they have either patched the game since all of these 'performance issues', or perhaps you don't take care of/maintain your PS4?.

Just Cause 3 runs as smooth as butter on the Pro, it's just a great game to have a lot of fun without to much thought, sure it can get a bit repetitive but most open world games do.

I always laugh at how much heat these PS Plus/Games with Gold things tend to get. 2500 degrees! For Just Cause 3 and an Assassin's Creed spinoff that I guarantee about 5% of people will play and finish.

27 Jul 17 #91
Heh, I'm actually disappointed in the "AAA" games on offer. Can't stand the Assassin's Creed games, didn't rate the first Just Cause (can you still run up 80-degree slopes as though they were flat ground in the new one?) so never touched the others. Never mind, I buy PS+ to play online, for less than £3 a month, so I shan't be complaining.
Kozor
27 Jul 17 #92
Anyone know if there's a market for buying someone's PS4 who've had a PS+ subscription for a while?

Was thinking it'd make a great present for someone who hasn't touched a game in a few years as they'd get an instant library of games.

Most of my ebay searches seem to just give bundles with Ninja Gaiden Sigma plus etc.

AndrewRoss
27 Jul 17 #96
It's against Sony terms and conditions to sell accounts. Apart from that it does work. But the question will always be, for how long? Original owner has proof it's his account and can take it back at any point. Original owner might not even be the one selling it (could be hacked/stolen). Imagine buying it on eBay, you get it, it works great you leave amazing feedback then the next day it stops working so he can sell another ps4 with the same stuff.

Taking all that into account I certainly wouldn't pay much at all over the base going rate for one with pre-installed games/plus.

27 Jul 17 #98
Thanks for the informative reply!

I'm surprised it violates their T&Cs to resell as it's a product that's been purchased- wouldn't have asked if I'd have known that. Suppose that's why it's been tricky to find.
AndrewRoss
27 Jul 17 #99
Yeah the problem is once redeemed you aren't reselling a product, it's an account, all of the systems I've seen with pre-installed games are sold on the basis of keeping the old account on them. Lose access to that, lose access to all the pre-installed games. It's fine, if say you're buying it from a friend you trust and they are switching systems etc. I just don't trust people on the internet

27 Jul 17 #102
Just a heads up, the season pass for JC3 is on sale at the moment. I haven't played them myself yet but I bought them last night, £7.99 for 3 DLC's isn't too bad. From what I hear there isn't a huge amount of content but the unlocks carry over to the main game and are a lot of fun (like the mech suit and the rocket powered wingsuit)
Like I say I haven't tried it out yet though so someone else can probably give more information on whether they're worth it or not.

I really enjoyed JC3 personally, I didn't notice any issues when I played it through. Yes it can get a bit repetitive but that's true for a lot of games, and at least this is one that's just fun to mess around in, flying around and blowing stuff up.

Ive been using an older version of this since the end of 2014 and couldn't be happier. Id recommend going all the way to 2tb if you're upgrading because if you end up like me - with a sickening digital backlog - you won't have to delete anything again for a long long time.

Seconded (thirded?) - if you're upgrading the internal hard drive, the price differential between 1TB and 2TB drives is small enough that it's definitely worth the greater upgrade.

That's the one that I have installed - yep, it's ideal.

27 Jul 17 #112
If you're happy using it as an external drive, by all means, but it won't fit internally (the largest capacity for the laptop-size drives that the PS4 accepts is currently 2TB).
dr_spaceman
27 Jul 17 #113
2TB quickly fills up but good to know this. I have a 4TB external drive for my Xbox but been thinking about one for my PS4. I guess it depends if you don't mind deleting games when they are not being used, or like me you want then all in your library ready to play.
Illusionary
27 Jul 17 #114
I'd disagree, to be honest - I find 2TB to be ample. There's no need to have absolutely every game installed all the time!

NaughtyDog
28 Jul 17 #119
We all knew the increase in price was coming. They should have been sensible and increased the price, but included PS Now in the sub. That would have been a game changer, rather than a p take after two improved months...

28 Jul 17 #121
I have just under a year remaining. I'll worry about it nearer the expiry and then weigh up the options. If I don't like them I won't renew. I used to feel in-prisoned by PS+ because of the built up game library but I don't get round to playing most of those, a lot are rubbish and the only other reason to have PS+ is online play and other than Rocket League I mostly play single player or couch co-op. Nintendo Switch is looking even more appealing.
Antichrist84
28 Jul 17 #122
To everyone saying Just Cause 3 performance is terrible, just disconnect your PS4 from the internet before you load up the game, this stops the constant connection to the pointless leaderboard.......sounds silly but it really does help push the fps back up. Of course the fps still drops a little with lots of explosions going on but it's still a noticeable improvement.
Master_Yoda
28 Jul 17 #123
I would advise people to check their auto-renew subscription settings. I actively turned auto-renew OFF earlier this year - 100% definite, no question - I just checked my PSN account and found Sony have turned it back to ON???? What the...???
Sir_Deadpool_of_Awesome
28 Jul 17 #125
Yeesh, you must have a serious library my friend. I have just over 150 in my library (and ashamed to have a backlog of nearly a half of that) and have probably 100 of those games installed with around 300gb free. I can afford to delete a fair few stinkers before I'm feeling tight on space too, so I'd maintain that a 2tb internal upgrade is worthwhile. External storage will always be more cost effective though...

29 Jul 17 #126
Don't understand how this is hot with a sloppy poor-running port of a mediocre game and middling standalone DLC on offer. Downwell is good but £1.50 on Steam sale good. Ridiculous people will be paying £6.99 a month for these kind of rentals in a couple of months time.
sanandreasgangstar
29 Jul 17 #127
Also, just remove any credit card they could charge if something like this happens.
[email protected]/*
29 Jul 17 #128
£6.99 a month.
I doubt very much that people are paying that.

I think the auto-renew is switched on everytime you add to your subscription. IE If you add a year PS+ sub then it will switch on.
That is my experience anyway.
misa426
29 Jul 17 #129
Voted cold, as it is now clear that the motivations behind Sony giving away a few more "better quality" games these past few months was because they were planning a price hike and have to keep you enticed to keep your subscription.

Yeah the frame rate isn't the best but who gives a toss. Don't like the frame rate then buy a pc for better performance!

Notably, after redeeming the PS4 version, that version doesn't appear to be tied to the PS Plus subscription.

You are getting performance issues. The game is a mess on consoles. The low power CPU literally can't handle the game properly.

The key thing here is that you either aren't noticing the issues or you simply don't care about them (i.e. you're having too much fun with the damn game to give af :relaxed: ).

2 Aug 17 #152
You completely miss the point.

No game in this day and age should be dropping below 30fps.

This is the very reason the PC elitists refer to people like you as console peasants. You just accept what you're given and the big companies earning £££££££ continue to be lazy and not give a toss.
ThugBasher
2 Aug 17 #153
LOL console peasants. You do make me laugh!

We don't accept what we are given, sometimes it's better than nothing at all. Unfortunately we live in a society that people can't afford high end pcs to become a elitist idiot.

I'm sure there's many a folk who would love to be able to spend £££ on a cpu, graphics card, ram an a fancy light up mouse. What for to play wow? Player unknown battle grounds? Day z? Arma? League of legends? Yeah there fun to play but I'm not going to spend hundreds of pounds to play a game an then a few months down the road I need more ram or that liquid cooled graphics card.

I agree games today should be running at a higher frame rate but unfortunately there not so people have to deal with it. I can't see Destiny 2 not selling well because it only runs at 30fps on the ps4 pro and xbox one x.

That's something the customer has to deal with an accept an we do. If you don't like it then maybe the best thing todo is make a post in misc an have a rant there with your fellow elitist members.

I have a PS4 Pro and so far haven't seen any visible slow down on JC3, I'm about 2 -3 hours in and have seen some epic explosions too! I know the boost mode helps but I've still heard people complaining about FPS with it turned on...

Now Zelda BOTW, that does have some serious frame rate issues!!

Did anyone else notice that at the same time as raising the PSPlus price to £50 a month, Sony is also making the largest company profits they've ever made in history??? I can't understand how they can justify this global price increase - people seriously have no choice but to use PSN if they want to use most of their purchased PS4 games. We are basically paying them to 'own' a game and then being forced to pay them whatever they want to effectively rent it every year just to use it - it's actually completely insane.
