Not if you have all the picture presets set as well - it makes things so easy have two connections from the amp to the TV. If you never use your PS4/Xbox for BR/Movie playback and don't have a projector, then it is of course a feature that you can ignore. But just being able to press a button on my Harmony remote to switch from Game Mode to Movie Mode makes things just simple.

Can anyone recommend any 5.1 speakers to accompany this? Was looking at the tannoy hts101 XP’s.

Two outputs are also great if you use your PS4 or Xbox for streaming or disc playback. Lets you set your TV for game mode and also for video playback depending on the input used.

Can't you just change the viewing mode/preset on the TV almost as quickly as changing input though? I do find I need a brighter picture for gaming on my plasma to see stuff but I can get that by changing mode. Maybe it's different with LCD though?

Get a £5 powered splitter from eBay, works fine for my setup.

Yeah it sucks, they want you to buy a new amp every year and so limit any upgrades or new features to new models only when they could often just update the firmware on older models.

And buy it from B&Q. I bought some online thinking I’d got a bargain. Only to find out it was well cheaper at Bernard and Quetzel.

No, it doesn't have a phono stage. You probably want something like this amazon.co.uk/Pio…KPQ You might not want that exact one, in particular it doesn't have a remote (but then neither do [most..] record players)

As a VSX-930 owner the only thing I can fault Pioneer for is their support. Once they've released a successor they really couldn't care less about their previous model. Mine was released around July 2015, the last (and only firmware update) was December 2015.
Great kit; but just buy it as it is and don't expect new features to be ever added.

I have 2 outputs on my yammy receiver for that reason. I recently purchased a powered HDMI splitter (for another reason) and that is really good to be honest. Worth considering.

Ah, thanks - will take a look at that. Could be an non-intrusive solution if it looks decent. And I meant 3.1 (sausage fingers on small touchscreen) - I like bass, but not that much!

Research dline it's a coloured plastic conduit which sticks to your skirting board etc and looks quite natural.
Are you really running 2 subwoofers BTW? (I. E. 3.2)

Got one with slightly different model number, dead chuffed.
Been running on 3.2 tho - If anyone has any bright ideas of how to hide the surround cables without pulling up carpet, routing into walls etc, I'm all ears!

4 hdmi in 1 out, no wifi/lan, 5.1 (not 7.1). so its just the basics but for the price seems decent. Pioneer av amps in the past have been excellent especially for music playback but no idea the quality of this. I've only tried out high end models.

Seems like a very good price. Does 4k and HDR passthrough (hdcp2.2) so good for 4k blu ray via Xbox one S.
