To check the current region:
1. Power on with no disc inside
2. Press HOME
3. Enter 8520

To change DVD region:
1. Power on with no disc in tray
2. Press HOME
3. Enter 138 931 0

0 in last digit above means 'Region free'
Last digit can be any region between 1-7.
Check region as mentioned above again to confirm.

Now says expire in 24 hours so midnight tonight I guess.

It was a code given to selected eBay accounts I think. It was the first I've had in a long time. I just added this and a Wii U starter set to take it over the £30 from Argos.

I had the code and ordered from 5 sellers and code worked fine.Just order over £30.00.
Out of 10 ebay accounts in the family I was the only one who got the voucher code.

That is really bad, it is up to Argos to put a limit on how many you can buy to stop capitalist greed and profitering from spivs.

Received mine this morning, done the multi region DVD hack (as above) and can confirm that it works perfectly. Tried a Region 1 DVD first, wrong region message (as expected), performed the hack, checked setting had gone to 0, turned player off/on, inserted Region 1 DVD and started to play as expected.

Cracking little 3D Blu-Ray player with multi region DVD hack for £30! Finally I can play my imported DVDs again after my last player died on me.

My player came with System SW 1.11 (didn't update)
Model name is listed as BDP2190/05
Region Code now displays: BD(B) DVD(0)

Two tips for these from my experience so far:

1. They are very slow, so if you think it is not working and you are staring at a blank screen give it 15/20 seconds to do whatever it is doing.

2. My one seems very fussy about HDMI cables - with the first cable all I could get was the 'Phillips' greet screen then a blank blue/black screen with sort of rays from the right. With the second cable I could get nothing, the Samsung TV (2 year old fairly standard model UE40K5500) recognised something was connected to the HDMI port when looking at the Sources. So I tried a third cable and that worked fine straightaway.
