Well for starters you can download a licensed version to your computer as well as your iPad and your iPhone etc. Google and Amazon don't allow Mac users to download copies to their computers.

I didn't call it a racist series but did it really need to contain just a few racist words what about the asian population that hear it. How does it make them feel when Dell boy who they enjoy watching throws a p word in there. If you going to make cuts like they did then why not cut the p words is all I am saying. It makes no sense to cut it up and then leave these references in there. I personally do not like the cuts btw! Also saying it is common for the time I would disagree with as we are talking the early 90s.

I don't think I have watched them as closely as you have they are just funny to watch and if you find that whatever cuts they have made will effect your enjoyment then it would be best not to buy them. I myself find them to be the best sitcom ever. I do take your point though but it's not enough to bother me

What racism is that?! A couple of P words used about a shop that was common at the time hardly makes it a racist series. Plus above that you say you enjoyed it! The past shouldn't be censored.

I actually posted a link to the dvds I mentioned on eBay so people know which ones are the most unedited. A moderator has actually given me an infraction for self promotion confused

For those who have not seen it, they also made a twenty minute mini episode in 1984 specifically for schools, featuring Del Rodney and grandad.https://vimeo.com/164318269[/quote]

If you can get hold of the original video releases then they are unedited. I have the dvds that were sold with a magazine of ofah about ten years ago. I picked mine up on eBay, if you can get hold of them they are pretty much unedited and are the best you will get. It also has the complete episode of a royal flush. The only big edit in it is during 'a jolly boys outing', they have cut a bit out as a song was playing in the background and they would have had to pay royalties again.

Checked the Wiki and seems iTunes is the only nearly complete source nowadays, so just bought it on there for £19.99.
I'm usually a loyal Google Play user but for the extra £3 it's worth buying on iTunes instead!

There is loads of scenes that are cut out. I don't get how you wouldn't notice.
Personally I'd rather pay £19.99 for it on iTunes. I don't like the policies of GooglePlay or Amazon

Scratch that - have read the Wikipedia article now and it looks like the BBC are going with the re-edited version of A Royal Flush as the definitive one and the rest are restored versions. Might have to bite now!

Are you sure? I previewed 'A Royal Flush' the other day on iTunes and heard the laughter track which was added after the original transmission on an edited version of the episode.

Not sure why the 'edited or not' debate always crops up. There is not a chance in hell the unedited versions are going to see the light of day again, unless the BBC need a bit of extra dough to pay for Chris Evans's salary.

The reason its not available is because the BBC will have to pay for the rights to use them on the Hime release so doubtful it will ever happen, GOLD do still show the unedited versions though

Does the edited versions cut out the wee bits of racism and all that kinda stuff?

Surprised by the racism this collection contained. Heard the p word even in an episode from the early 90's. Did enjoy the collection though!

I have the dvd boxset, cuts and all, honestly, doesn't bother me nearly as much as i thought it would, sure it's missing a couple songs and few words aren't there, but they're always fun to watch, we've all seen them umpteen times anyway, i used to think it mattered, but now, meh.
