Got the Redmi note 4 global the other day from ali express (4gb 64gb) and its very very good, took 10 days no customs charge ( $39 on package) knocks my P9 lite into a cocked hat,,, running nougat now and Nova launcher ,,, great phone
Up at 6 this morning got home at 17.00 battery still on 87%
How much tax would I be expecting to pay if it gets flagged by customs?
What's the process like if I receive an empty box?
CampGareth to akashlilakz
28 Jul 17#8
You'd pay a carrier fee (£15? £30? Depends on the carrier) for them paying customs fees, then VAT of 20% so about £19. That's assuming this has the right value written on the box and it gets hit by customs, both of those are unlikely. Usually they're under-valued so can slip through as a gift even if someone does check them.

I paid for standard delivery and it never got flagged by customs. If you're not in too much of a rush for it, then that's the best way to avoid paying custom charges.

how would this compare with huawei P8 Lite that is available on EE (was also available from Argos a few days back) for approx 20 quid more.... that is available with peace of mind being from a UK retailer but other than that how do the phones stack up against each other?

I bought the 4gb version from these guys for approx £130. They were very efficient. Standard delivery arrived in 8 days. Phone is excellent and arrived very well packaged with a free case and screen protector. Will definitely buy from them again.

Yes it's a hybrid slot so can take 2 Sims or 1 sim and a memory card (cannot take 2 Sims + memory card together)

Exactly!
And that sounds about right too?
My game is mainly via BangGood, and GearBest (various stuff's from each over x-years), and only ever ordered 1 product via AliExpress ...
But in all honesty, allllll the above play the same way! (eg. like the above 2 comments have already stated?)
So, do as the above advices tells you, and your all good to go also, lol. :-)

Any good deals on the Snapdragon 625 band 20 versions? Not sure that pic is rite
dreadzone101 to Swf77MiUk
28 Jul 171#36
There are no B20 Snapdragon 625 versions of this particular phone. The B20 SD625 would be Redmi Note 4 Global Version which is a larger 5.5" phone currently around £112 on AliExpress. There's also a 5.0" Redmi 4 Prime which is SD625 but no B20. The picture is correct for this phone.
Redmi 4X is a smaller 5" device with camera in corner whereas the Redmi Note 4 has the camera in the centre. The OP has used a Redmi 4X image for some previous Redmi Note 4 posts, so that might be why you think the picture isn't right.

I advise not buying on that store. Bought an MI6 a month ago and still has not been shipped, while they give me the run around saying "soon". They do not honour sale prices!

Another month for delivery and by the time you get the phone it probably won't be worth what you paid for it! ...at the rate they release new phones now
Please keep us updated. I'd like to know what incentives they offer for your patience, or if they offer a refund without having to open a PayPal dispute
ricardocosta102977
28 Jul 17#34
No option to pay by PayPal, alipay only.
I've cancelled the order now as they didn't even consider any incentive, just kept spilling the "oh, please wait, much worth it" crap!

Are you sure it wasn't for Redmi NOTE 4X? The China Redmi Note 4X is basically the 5.5" Redmi Note 4 Global Version except without B20. The 5.0" Redmi 4X is SD435 only.

Yeah, as far as I'm aware, every single Xiaomi phone released since the end of 2014 has been dual SIM. Their last single SIM phone was Dec 2014. Every Redmi and Redmi Note phone has been dual SIM except for one. The dual SIM setup differs depending on the phone. This is Slot 1: micro SIM. Slot 2: either nano SIM or micro SD.

does the software upgrade on this phone? I have a xiamo redmi 3 pro and whilst being a good value phone, the stock software operating system is non upgrade-able unless you hack the phone which is not the best scenario, so effectively after a years use the phone is passed its sell by date being 3 or 4 patches behind everything else. I find it very odd that any phone manufacturer could sell a phone that does not automatically upgrade the software for the operating system. Pretty ridiculous when the customer has to hack their own phone to upgrade...

You mean your phone is running a custom rom put on by a third party seller? Thats nothing to do with xiaomi, they do release updates and plenty of them, your on a shady unofficial rom.
ricardocosta102977 to bespokebicycle

Actually, you would have to "un-hack" your phone because of what's explained above

it's currently running miui 7 .2.99.99 which came with the phone .. only way to update from what i can see is to download a miui flash tool and then jump through a load more hoops, back up old phone info etc... clear as mud..this is just what I garnered from google search and was told nothing of this when I purchased.. my old samsung would just update automatically, so this is a right ball ache for someone who has no technical knowledge..

That is an unofficial vendor ROM installed on your phone by the seller that you bought from and has nothing to do with Xiaomi. Explanation of what vendor ROMs are, here<<. If it was an official Xiaomi ROM, you'd get OTA updates. From the number, your vendor ROM is MIUI 7. Around this time last year MIUI 8 was released and Redmi 3 Pro would have got it. The current latest official MIUI for your phone is 8.1.3.0. This thread<< has some links on how to flash official ROM onto your phone.
