It's exactly because the cheap stuff is like washing up liquid that you shouldn't use it.

It's because it contains teflon. I soak the chain in lube of choice, wipe dry, then spray a coating of GT85 on. The way i figured, the teflon coating would make it better resistant to water.
And stop chatting balls yourself. The bike wash stuff has been shown to work by the company who produces it. The "nanoparticle" guff is marketing nonsense. It does the same job as most other cleaners you can get your hands on...including washing up liquid. It's just it costs a whole load more.

I just mean, anyone spraying GT-85 on their chain doesn't understand what they're doing, they're just doing the standard 'it's lube right? So I just spray it everywhere?' when what they're actually doing is breaking down the lubricant with the solvent in GT-85. So lubing and then GT-85ing is a bit of a silly thing to do.
MO products are overpriced but good. I wait for bargains but I do have the majority of the bike range. The bike wash stuff has been shown to work much better than cheap alternatives, that's definitely the pick of the bunch. The rest is fine but no better than most. The bike polish and bike spray aren't exactly the revolutionary products they make out to be, but again if you can get them cheap they're fine.

Has anyone tried the Wilco Triplewax car cleaning products for bike cleaning? They seem a cheaper alternative to so called 'bike specific' products.

I picked up the wilko scented degreaser before and found that it was rubbish. No comments on the other stuff as i haven't used it.

What do you mean? I would like to know, in your view, are the products really good, or over-rated? I'm just a fair weather cyclist but like to look after my kit, so have purchased all of theres at some point.

Decent price for sure so voted hot, but I've never rated MucOff products. When I did have a metal chain, I used an engine degreaser to best effect, and then standard washing up liquid everywhere else.

If anyone doubted the stupidity of this comment, they didn't after this bit. Stop chatting balls.

It's a great deal compared to their normal price, but the products themselves just aren't really worth the money to me.
The bike cleaner: as silly as it sounds, use washing up liquid.
The degreaser: again, washing up liquid. It's designed to remove grease.
The shiner: if you really want to coat your bike, you'd probably be better off with GT85. It's £2 from Wiggle, and besides giving the teflon coating, has many other uses. I spray it on the chain after lubing to protect it, but it's also a great water displacer.
Just be aware that some washing up liquids contain salts, which are a big no-no. If it says Sodium Chloride, avoid. Otherwise, it does a fantastic job for next to nothing.

Just had a though when i got home.
If your a British Cycling member you get 10% off at Halfords who should price match so could potentially get them for £2.70
Opening post
For the following items;
All over cleaner
Chain and gear degreaser
Lube and shine
Also got chain lube (wet) for £2.50
While stocks last.
Yes not for everyone but some still use them and at £3 I've not seen them cheaper.
