Thanks so much for posting this - just ordered.
I was already considering the 6RF (6700HQ) version at £1580 from elsewhere, but was leaning towards Razer Blade or Gigabyte Aero 15 due to their smaller footprint. They're both around £1800 though, so at £1300 this MSI became a no-brainer - I can live with the extra cm or two of width, knowing that my wallet will also be a similar amount thicker!

So the deal posted with 120Hz screen is probably better for actual gaming.
Some people have reported build quality issues and you can get Dell Inspirion 15 with similar spec for much less so I still voted cold.

Dell XPS 15 have serious throttling issues. Not good for gaming, unless you want to open it up and do some repasting and putting thermal pads on various components and still face trottling, but less. Go through NBR threads before anyone purchase XPS. I cannot even play Dota 2 on this machine at max settings. Cooling system is terrible. Everything else is just beautiful. I've gone through stealth pro threads too on NBR and reviews are way better than XPS 15. Less QC issues than XPS.

Also worth pointing that the scaling in non native resolutions is usually visibly worse (typically manifested as blurriness) so gaming in 1920x might be an advantage since any mobile gfx card might struggle with such high resolutions in demanding games, now or in the future. I am also not sure how easy it is to get at least 120fps with a mobile gfx card, since otherwise the screen supporting 120hz would also do no good -but no harm either.

Unless I'm looking at the completely wrong one the Dell inspiron laptop runs with a 1050ti 4gb, a 1tb 5400 rpm hard drive and only a 128gb SSD. If im wrong can you link the right one?

Good specs for the price.
I wouldn't personally trust buying from PC world or other 'retail-like' chain stores for PC's and Laptops though. If it was somewhere like AWD or Scan that had this same deal i'd be far more trusting.

Just some advice, have a look on dell outlet before you buy a gaming laptop. Loads of alienware on there.
I'm more interested in an XPS 15 with a 1050 but each to their own :smiley:

Yeah, the bezel-less screens on the Aero 15 and XPS 15 are great. I've been tempted by the XPS 15 too, as for my current needs the 1050 gpu on the latest 9560 version is fine, but ultimately I felt a 1060 would give a more comfortable level of future-proofing. The forthcoming Asus Zenbook Pro ux550 with 1050ti looks interesting too, but I can't see it being priced cheaper than this MSI for a while.
Good point about the specs - based on other HUKD threads, it seems PC World often get them wrong! I though the same about the storage, but will be happy even if it's only a 1tb hdd (or a 256 ssd would be a nice bonus). I didn't know it came in different response time varieties, but I'm a fairly casual single-player gamer so probably won't notice the difference between 5ms and 3ms.

very odd, i finally went to order this around 10 :innocent: 0 last night and literally as putting in my credit card details it went out of stock. Out of interest just looked again this morning (assuming it would be back to normal price but still OOS) and was pleasantly surprised to see it not only still at 1299 but also available again. Yay. I was planning to get Aero 15 too, but this is a must buy at £1300. Was getting that for bezel less screen. Currently have Dell XPS 15 9550. Can live with an extra inch on sides.
I think there is something wrong with the specs on pcworld. I've not seen this configuration any where else. This should either come with 256gb SSD + 2TB or 128gb SSD + 1TB.
Also I wonder whether this will be 120Hz 5ms response or 120Hz 3ms response.

If you register within a month, warranty is also extended by MSI by a year.
The only thing worrying is the warranty of 1 year.

The 1 year is probably copy paste from MSI, the retailer, being EU based, is obliged to provide 2 years no matter what the manufacturer provides, at least while we are in the EU.
