I'm running a few different cards at the moment 2 x1080ti, 4 x rx480, 1 x 470, 1 x 1050ti and a 1070, the 1070 does around 450 sols (palit super jetstream) so around £2.70 a day at current prices (just for the 1070).
captain.frugal
6 Jul 17#25
This is crazy good price!
I'm waiting for the MSI Gaming X 1070 which is almost identical, which just bumped back up from £410 to £450.
I'm not bothered by color, so snapped this up! And if this drop is a precursor to a widespread easing of prices, we've got 3 weeks to find a better deal.

Forgive my ignorance. I know nothing about mining. Does it not cost you more in electricity?
plewis00

Cryptocurrency miners, where time mining is more valuable than waiting for a faster mystery GPU that may never close that time gap in ROI.
worf201
6 Jul 17#28
Is this worth upgrading from a non x fury?
Just.Wondering
6 Jul 17#29
As it happens no, real cost is around 10 to 20 percent of money generated for electricity costs , so around 80 percent profit.

It's easy enough to do, you need a bit coin wallet to mine to, look at whattomine.com and consider nicehash.com software for super easy setup, you could be earning money within the next 20 minutes.

Glix
6 Jul 17#33
You've got your calculations upside down. It's 80% cost and 20% profit pre fees. You need to first catch up to ROI, which is getting further and further away, then you need to find somewhere that doesn't take a chunk of your BTC, and then good luck getting it into GBP. #Forever HODL

How much cash can you make in an average month on a gtx1070 by mining
Glix
6 Jul 17#36
How so? I have 2 pc's setup on nicehash. The actual returns are lower than their projected even though my rates are higher. I'm actually going to switch off the HD7850 miner as its about to hit the cost of powering it. It's like dagger is the only one worth mining atm, bonus if your card can dual mine, my 780 can just about do it, but changing the intensity doesn't seem to shift it in the way I want. I'll check out cex.io though thanks.
Just.Wondering
6 Jul 17#37
Depends, I'd say average around £2.40 a day, not a great deal, but if you leave it running while not gaming, well you could easily self finance your PC.
Just.Wondering
6 Jul 17#38
Well 2 hd 7850 are where things are not working out for you, for example a tweaked / efficient rx480 is around 110 Watts per hour, so 2 in a pc system would be around 350 Watts(full system 2 cards) , that would generate around £4 currently a day.... The maths is there for all to see, just hit up the links and buy power efficiency cards, not old, clapped out gas guzzlers

I'm just using what I have on hand, I honestly thought the HD7850 was dead, so I baked it and it's fully functional so might as well get it doing something (160 sol/s 130w approx). Can't believe I scoffed at the rx480 when it first came out. It's turned out to be a trojan horse, still not a great card for gamers, and now miners think it's a gem in the rough, it's causing a crypto boom!

7 Jul 17#48
I'd recommend a WQHD (2560x1440) monitor.. this card will easily allow you to max out detail/quality where as it will struggle with some games in 4k resolution. Thats just my personal take on it but otherwise check some gtx 1070 reviews off a google search to see what frame per second games you are interested in are returning. As for actual monitor recommendations.. id struggle to recommend any without a budget and without knowing your preference in terms of monitor size.. most WQHD monitors are in the 24 to 27 inch range..

7 Jul 17#53
Don't get too carried away with that, the RX 400/500 series have been slowing down quite a lot with Ethereum, they think likely due to the 256-bit memory bus vs. the older Hawaii cards, they're more efficient but seem to be losing speed as the DAG increases. Anyway, there's so many aspects to mining it won't suit all. I kind of got the impression that running a single machine with a single card isn't worth it as many places have minimal withdrawals; I guess with things like Nicehash, it may work out OK but at some point they're going to reach a limit.

Depending on when mine ships I am seriously tempted to stick a listing up on ebay and see if a miner will take it off me for a tidy profit.. especially with the ebay FVF promo at £1.. i mean someone sold one of these 10days ago for £500 + £10pp.. cant be long until the market gets flooded with cards again and the prices drop
That said though I do need/want a new card to replace my 970 for gaming
ploopydoop
21 Jul 17#81
Considering brand new 1080's are, and have been available for cheaper than this... It's likely the sold listing you saw on ebay was an attempt of fraud from the buyer. I suppose there is a small chance it could have been a dumb person just throwing money away, but either way I wouldn't expect to replicate the price it sold at.
nothingbutadam

i dont think thats the case at all.. go to ebay and view the 1070s on sale that are new in the uk buy it now. I don't think any sane person is going to spend upwards of £500 for a gtx 1070 on ebay. Just because there are listings at this amount does not mean they are selling anywhere near often enough to expect to get this amount for yourself.

As for having rights, im pretty sure they have already debited my amazon account?
Either way theres still hope for me, I havent been delayed yet!
Dayksa
21 Jul 17#91
amazon don't take funds until they dispatch (unless paying by gift card) so they won't have debited you and at the time that this offer was on, pretty much every 1070 had 2-3 weeks waiting time minimum, so you would have had to pay more and still wait, to only be receiving it now.
It was 2-3 weeks estimated delivery time not a guarantee and that was even posted by the OP.

Was sent this last night:
I could see and confirm that we have contacted our suppliers regarding the supply for the Graphics card and they updated that this item will be in stock on 13 August 2017 in huge number of quantities.
Once we receive an item it is dispatched according to the method you specify. When we dispatch it from our Fulfilment Centre, we'll send you an e-mail confirming the date, contents and method of delivery.
I still followup your order and surely send you the dispatch confirmation to you via email again without fail.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding in this matter.

Has anyone had delivery this week ? I have keep chasing by email and they have given me £5 credit then one month extra amazon prime then a £15 credit . Didnt ask for them. nothingbutadam
13 Aug 17#163
It is quite poor.. but I'm personally in no rush to cancel whilst there is a lack of good other alternatives, especially at this price, and vega will show up very shortly so might have an effect on prices
alien_
13 Aug 17#164
I won't cancel it, but if anything decent pops up for under £350 I think I'll bite as I need a 2nd card to boost rendering speed ASAP. Might go for that Zotac mini some sites seem to be getting.
I chased up Amazon today and pointed out that they'd told me the card would be shipped today. They now don't have any estimates, not even September. Is it worth asking MSI?
bouttime2
13 Aug 17#167
Personally I'm just going to wait and hope they don't cancel. In the meantime if Vega causes a price drop I'll buy a 1070 elsewhere instead and cancel this one. You can get a Zotac card currently for £328. If there is no price drop then I'll just wait for this one to arrive. It's annoying though I must admit. My order still shows as dispatch 13th arriving by 14th.

Dayksa
19 Aug 17#180
Well this is what I have just been told.
"Thanks for waiting Andrew. No estimated date has of yet been listed. The item it's self states that it usually dispatches between 1 to 3 weeks, however, given that you ordered this on 6th July, there should have definitely been an update by now. I'm sorry that it has been so long, however this doesn't look like it's going anywhere. My suggestion would be to cancel and reorder, unfortunately, as frustrating as I imagine that will be for you."
When I said, I knew of someone having their's dispatched.
"the only information we have regarding stock is what we see on the amazon website and as far as the this item goes, on the website, it is in stock but I couldn't go into further detail on that"
When I responded that the previous adviser had given me an estimated arrival date for stock.
"If that happened then I will need to look into correspondence history to raise a flag with that particular customer service agent. I'm sorry that you were told this, as it was false information. We have no access to stock levels or as and when stock is due to come in."
I am not cancelling my order but not exactly reassuring or helpful.
bouttime2
19 Aug 17#181
An earlier msg from them told me a number of times I could cancel. Today's message said the card was available from a seller but very expensive so they recommend I dont cancel. My feeling is they expected prices to fall with Vega being released and it hasn't happened. So quite possibly they face making a loss in these cards at £311. So they could be waiting on buying anymore until the price from their supplier drops.

19 Aug 17#182

It annoys me the way they seem to make more effort in trying to get you to cancel the order than they do trying to fulfil it. Mine is still on order showing "not yet despatched". I've pre ordered the zotac mini from ebuyer in the mean time so whatever comes first I'll keep (providing there is no difference in performance)

20 Aug 17#184
Looked at that Zotac myself to be honest and was thinking the same. But have my mind set on the MSI now as it will be quieter and cooler. Speeds will be comparable.....maybe the MSI will be 3-4 FPS quicker. The Zotac still looks like a very good deal. Just not quite as good

Ok so I've just had a result. I don't want to post the transcript from my chat session as I don't want to cause issues for the guy I just dealt with. But basically I asked if they would sell me a GTX 1080 using the same percentage discount. The upshot is I've just ordered an MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X Plus 11Gbps for £360. These are currently £600. I am extremely happy to say the least. Think my 550W PSU may struggle. :joy:
nothingbutadam
29 Aug 17#220
what did you work the percentage discount out as? I cant recall what the original price of the 1070 was meant to be
bouttime2
29 Aug 17#221
Had to think on my feet as the order summary doesn't show it. Told the guy I thought it was originally £489 meaning the discount was just under 40%. Once I'd typed this I figured they'd never go along with it. He said he had to run it past a supervisor and came back telling me if I promptly made the order they'd adjust the price afterwards. But I still didn't know what the price would be! I ordered it regardless and he asked for some time. Then came back saying it was £360!! He asked if I would like to cancel the 1070 and I said sure, as long as the 1080 was going to arrive. He said there are no numbers showing so there should be ample numbers. It's a bloody pre-order (again) but should be in 31st August. They aren't so good for mining so hopefully there wont be any shortages. If you try this remember there are numerous similar models on Amazon. This one has the upgraded memory bandwidth. Good luck!!
Gonalo.Pacheco
29 Aug 17#222
I just tried that with Amazon and they said they can't sell another item for a discount. Also they said they're expected to receive the 1070 by the end of October!
bouttime2
29 Aug 17#223
My chat session was going nowhere. He even told me he was unable to contact the buying team. I told him it was a disappointing chat session and I was about to exit when I figured I'd ask the question. And the whole thing turned at that exact moment. He even thanked me at the end for having a fantastic idea. It seems to be a lottery with Amazon CS. He offered me nothing. But as soon as I asked about a GTX 1080 at a similar percentage discount he almost seemed relieved that I asked. I feel even more fortunate now. But remember it hasn't dispatched yet so I'm not counting my chickens until I receive it.
Gonalo.Pacheco

29 Aug 17#226
I'm happy you got it sorted. On the other hand, I feel a bit salty as I tried the exact same thing - When the red MSI 1070 OC (essentially the same card) came in stock I asked them if I could have that instead, explaining this is an essential work tool that I sorely miss, but no. I asked to talk to a supervisor, in case she/he has more power to get it sorted, but all he could do was he offered a £15 discount, which he said already exceeds what he could do according to their policy. Also, I was patient and polite throughout the these conversations, not demanding or anything. Anyways, I managed to snatch up a GTX 1070 from Currys for under £310 yesterday, so I'm sorted for the time being, but intend to use the MSI card when / if it comes through.

Got an email from a supervisor, he is saying they expect to get it on the second week of September!
Hello,
I'm Sandeep, one of the Supervisors at Amazon.co.uk.
I'm sorry to hear about the change to the estimated delivery date for your order [Redacted]
When you place an order, our system determines the best fulfilment plan for your order given the stock availability and delivery methods. On rare occasions, circumstances not known at the time of ordering will prompt our system to re-evaluate our inventory or delivery options.
I've checked and see that the item is currently not in stock with us. However, upon checking with our fulfilment centre, we expect the stock to arrive in the second week of September 2017.
Please note that it is just an estimated date provided by the supplier and if there is any issue when receiving the stock we'll update you with an email.
If you don't wish to wait further, you can cancel the order before dispatch and you won't be charged for it. Unfortunately, we won't be able offer any discount on a different item as you've mentioned in your email.
I hope this helps. Warmest regards, Sandeep

Think I got lucky. Very lucky. Like the poster above who's had his price reduced to £250. Like I said, I won't get to excited until I actually have the thing. To anyone else id say it's still worth trying online chat and telling them you are dissatisfied with the chat session. You may be chatting to someone who's prepared to offer you a deal. It really is a lottery.

Well my chat was not as helpful as yours, tried to see if they would offer me the discount on another card, after I was basically told it would not be arriving, that it was discontinued and no longer on the amazon website Advisor checked with their manager and was told it was against policy and I was given £10 credit instead.
Bilj
30 Aug 17#234
I'm guessing that's going to be a similar response to what I am going to receive. Chat advisor has taken responsibility for my query. I tried to get price match on a different card, but no joy (apart from an offer for a £10 discount on an another card).
bouttime2
30 Aug 17#238
Well if the 1080 arrives then I will consider it all worthwhile to be honest. Have to say I think Amazon should be pulling out all the stops to keep you all happy. Quite possibly they took far too many orders and priced the card far too low. Bare on mind I did lay it on pretty thick with the Amazon CS guy. But we do spend quite a bit of cash on Amazon so maybe that was a factor. But quite probably I just got very lucky.
Amazon now showing the 1080 as in stock 4th September. My order is apparently being prepared for dispatch but looks like I could be waiting longer than I thought. Not again surely!?!

31 Aug 17#239
So after 7 weeks I got a resolution half an hour ago. Initially the rep offered a Zotac Mini version for the same price, I said it was a respectable offer but mentioned that it also had stock issues and was inferior in quality. They prompted me to provide a suitable replacement on the site and I linked the EVGA Superclocked since it was miraculously in stock and roughly the same sort of quality.
Initially they said they could only offer up to £70 value and to pick something in the same price range, but when I mentioned that prices are now inflated 2 months later, and that the MSI model I ordered would cost more than the EVGA if it was in stock, they said they could do it.
Being delivered on Monday.

You know...this GTX 1080 will be overkill for me. I only really play WoT on an Asus ROG 1440p 144hz G-SYNC monitor. Even my current EVGA GTX 970 is plenty good enough. Maybe when the 1080 arrives I'll try some other games. My two boys I'll have the 970 in their PC.

Spent 1h30 getting no where with CS last week trying to get a card actually in stock. The agent promised me an update and I've received this today:
" Our fulfillment team have advised us that we are due to get more stock of the item MSI V330-069R GeForce GTX 1070 Quick Silver 8G OC PCIE 3.0/8 GB GDDR5 256 Bit Graphics Card - Black during the 2 week period from next Monday.
I have been advised that we should get enough stock to fulfill all outstanding customers' orders during that period. Please note, that we will endeavour to fulfill orders in the sequence they were placed.
I hope this helps, but if we can assist you further with this or anything else, please don't hesitate to get in touch by replying to this email or by using the link below:"

Well just my luck, the MSI 1070 has stopped working, so I contacted amazon and had a good old moan, they offered me a full refund and a £10 gift card, which I was not happy with.
So I asked for a call from head office, anyway 10 minutes ago I got a call, I explained my situation and disappointment at waiting 7 weeks for a faulty card, they said they could offer me the red msi 1070 gaming x at 448 and no extra charge, so I said hmmm if I was spending that kind of money, I'd buy a gtx 1080, surely you have gtx 1080 for not much more , he agreed and said the maximum he can give me is £150 towards a different card, so In the end I ended up with a evga gtx 1080 sc with a free code for Destiny 2, so I paid the difference of around £40, my new card will be with me in a few days.
So a evga gtx 1080 and a free destiny 2 code for £351.99 is all good by me

Went through the usual, you havent been charged and they told me it was in stock with another seller. I said
Me: I've waited so long for it to come, in the meanwhile prices have risen a lot.
They then offered to help me with the price of a new Amazon sold item. It took a couple goes to get and I ended up naming a price of 340 and they accepted it.
The chat took almost an hour so stay persistent

Will the card be eligible for a free copy of Destiny 2? The person I spoke to said that offer ended tonight and they had spare codes in case I was not sent one automatically... Let me know how you get on with the card as the 1080 I received is only giving 40-70 FPS in Watchdogs with stutter. Yet it clocks all the way to almost 2000mhz on its own. The Division also keeps freezing. I've reinstalled and rolled back drivers. I'm just reinstalling Watchdogs now. This is on a 1440p monitor. Possibly it's my i5 CPU but lowering settings doesn't seem to do much.

I gave it another try and again they told me that there is nothing they can do and the product might not get delivered at all. So I mentioned the price rise etc. but all I get is: we can cancel the product and you can place a new order. So as they were not offering anything, I tried asking friendly for a different card instead, to which they said it's not something they can do. So after trying a couple of times more in a friendly way without any result, I just calmy tried confronting them with the fact that it is something they can do as it has been done a couple of times before, and that I feel like I'm being lied to. To that they responded: "Without any order numbers I wouldn't be able to check and see what has been done but it's not something in our policy.". Oh and as it took 'too long' for me to respond, he just straight up ended the chat while I was still typing. Just my luck
Edit: I got an e-mail from the same guy to follow up on the chat.

If you are playing watchdogs 2 , I have had a 1080 in the past , currently running a 1080ti , but 1080 will struggle with watchdogs , if you have the settings turned up , I had to tweak it loads to get a good solid 60fps at 4k ,infact most ubisoft titles are graphics card hogs i think due to their open world enviorment, I really like my ubisoft games , so turn down MSAA , ultra high shadows , that kind of thing.
Which I5 is it ? i run a 6600k , I did have a i5 6400 running the old bios to enable non K overclocking , worked very well for overclocking.
My 1080ti cannot handle watchodogs 2 at very highest settings it drops to a crawl.....ubisoft make some very demanding games.

anyone else wondering , ask for the head office call ,the person from head office had what sounded like a soft spoken Irish accent to me , nice person to deal with , seems to be a totally different place to the usual where they call you or you call them to their normal moan and groan customer services dept.

No.... different name. As for my 1080, ive got mixed opinions on its performance. The Witcher 3 and Tomb Raider look fantastic at very high FPS on a 1440p resolution. Battlefield 1 also looks incredible but slightly lower FPS. World of Tanks doesn't appear to be THAT much better than my GTX 970. Maybe just another 20 FPS. But the Ubisoft games The Division and Watchdogs 1 are pretty much unplayable no matter the graphics settings so possibly it's not GPU related.
ITheEric
6 Sep 17#299
Ubisoft games in general are often badly optimised, so it's normal that performance isn't as good as it should be, but it shouldn't be unplayable. World of Tanks is really CPU dependend, so you're probably bottlenecked by your CPU in that game.

Thanks. Think it may be a recent Windows update. Will have to try my laptop and compare as that has a GTX 970m and The Division played fine a few months back. There seems to be a few posts on the Ubisoft forums complaining of a recent drop in FPS and stutter.

It has been a long road,
Firstly, I was hopeful, or maybe naïve.
I contacted amazon maybe every 2 – 3 days once first
ordering, always being told that my item was being dispatched, or even out for
delivery. I would then contact them the next day to say that the tracking had
not been updated/delivered was not made, to then be told that the previous CS
agent had lied, I would then request compensation, the initial offer would be
3-5 GBP, I would refuse and they would offer 10 GBP.
This went on for about a month with me gaining around £90.00
I believe, after this time I hit the “cancellation wall”, every CS would
suggest I cancelled and no more compensation was offered and I was told I had
reached the maximum amount allowed for one order.
As we approached the 2 month mark, I began to contact CS
again, but this time requesting an item to replace the undelivered order. To be
told time and time again this was not possible (by phone, by email, by live
chat)
2 days before the 2 month mark I thought I would try again,
this time I found a similar item the MSI 1080 8gb, I went into a chat explained
the story, and requested they sent me this card, each CS refused saying it was
not possible. Maybe 8-10th CS I explained my copy and pasted story,
and they replied with a simple “yes” – they questioned the fact the 1080 was
different to my original order, thinking on my feet as I actually hadn’t planned
to get this far, I came out with some nonsense about how they were both 8gb and
that was all that matter and the 1070 referred to the item being silver and the
1080 to the item being red…. They agreed. I requested them applied the same “discount”
(do not use “price match” this is a big NO NO flagged phrase from amazon) be applied,
I explained about prices being inflated now etc. The CS just agreed and asked
me to purchase the item and the discount would be applied, I asked them to
spell it out, that if I purchased this £509.98 item would be reduced the same
as my original order, they agreed. I purchased waited on the chat as they began
to change the cost of the item, after 5 minutes I was asked to refresh and a
total of £200 was now being charged for this item. As you can imagine I thanked
them and ended the chat.
This was due to be delivered on the 7th, as you
can expect the date came and went, no delivery, I was told an attempt was made,
and I left instruction to leave the item in a secure place. This was not
followed, I called that evening and was told a redelivery would be made that
evening up until 10pm, (before this was placed on hold for 45minutes prior by
another CS and then hung up on), 10pm came and went and no delivery, I was told
“100% no matter what” it would be deliver on the 8th. Again it was
not, I contacted CS once again and was told that no action had been taken on my
account and that the parcel was not out for delivery, I was then told it was
out for delivery and not to worry it would be here before 10pm and to extend my
patience. I contacted them again (it really is just a lottery) and was told my
item was damaged and was being returned to amazon no delivery would be made, I
was informed I needed to make a new delivery, the earliest available delivery
was Monday, I explained this was not good enough etc. apologies were offered
and I was told hard luck. I contacted CS via live chat, explained the situation
and that Monday was not good enough, (lottery again 3rd agent) I suggested
the only card I could find for next day delivery 1080ti 11g, I was told it was
too expensive (£919.99). I explained how my previous order had a discount applied
surely he could apply the same discount, he said it was not possible it was too
expensive etc. He said my other item would arrive before the 11th don’t
worry, I insisted I did not believe him explaining how ordered for the 7th.
He was slightly understanding I pushed on the 1080 ti once again and then
suggested he suggest some items, however everything he offered was to be delivered
on the 11th. I explained this was what I was trying to avoid I wanted
it next working day. I explained how the 1080ti was only a little more
expensive and was available next day. I offered to pay an additional £50,
(total £250) I explained how I thought that was fair seeing as the delivery
meant I could receive this the next day. He accepted and once again I purchased
the item at full price and it was adjusted it to £250 + £4.49 express
delivery).
Somehow I went for a 1070 at £312, to a 1080 at £200, to a
1080ti at £250 – with the addition of £90 promotion credit.
This has been one hell of a ride lads !
Im now awaiting delivery of my 1080ti tomorrow on the 9th……
P.S. I would say, if you're live chatting, and they don't agree, don't fight them end the chat and try again, every "supervisor" i spoke with agreed with the CS agent obviously. This was a total dead end every time !

(partial) success! spoke to a CS advisor.. as usual didnt get anywhere.. asked for a call from head office.. though turns out it was just a call from CS (shows as a dublin number) - anyhow explain the situation and made the following points:
1) waited 2 months patiently and numerous promises about delivery and getting back in touch broken - also lost out on offers on other cards that i didnt go for waiting for this order to come through 2) 1070 prices have risen sharply - suggested they view the closest MSI 1070 card which is now on amazon at £448 (£137 difference 3) have lost second hand value on my old 970 card had i been able to sell it 2months ago (~ £30)
I unfortunately tripped up a bit suggesting the red msi 1070 was the same but with 'slightly different performance'.. shouldnt have said the last bit.. they initially offered me £60 as a token gesture.. i rejected that on the basis that:
1) £311 and £60 is £371 and you cant buy any 1070 on amazon currently for £371 2) lost second hand value as above
They then price matched to the white asus 1070 (at £398 - this is where i couldnt get past the fact i had mentioned slight performance difference of the other card.. maybe i could have pushed it harder though).. questioned if i could apply the £88 difference to a different card and they agreed to apply it to the 'Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 1080' and re-apply the expedited shipping.. not as great a deal as others on here but im happy enough at £401.. coming tomorrow
GL to anyone still waiting to try this.. getting a call back is the way forward

I got on chat for for what feels like the thousandth time and after we reached the "Sorry, there is nothing we can do for you" phase I asked for a call, which the rep helpfully arranged. A few minutes on there was a call from Dublin, but my hopes went south as a machine voice came on - A generic CS line:( Anyways, the conversation with the rep felt a lot like talking to an actual human, so it was an improvement, he was helpful and sympathetic, but said I best wait as the card is definitely coming in stock - only they can't tell when. At that point I had to insist to talk to someone who have the means to help, as we're talking about a 45 day delay and I really need this part for work, but was told his supervisor would only tell me the same - to wait. So we went in circles for a bit, I kept asking for a call back, when suddenly he said that his superior tells that they can do a price match after all, just put the card I want in the basket. What? Really? That's insane! So I put the same specced MSI 1070 (red) in the basket as asked, but then realized it's not in stock either.. At that point I really wanted to get the part ASAP, so decided to try a 1080 and offered to pay the difference. So I go through with the checkout with the new card, and after a few minutes I see the price has been adjusted to £311. I couldn't believe it, they refused my offer to pay the difference. I still have a hard time believing how great length they went to solve this, all I can say is WOW! I all but gave up hope for getting my work build finished, but I'm a happy bunny now!
So in the end I got a MSI 1080 Gaming X 8GB for £311 minus £10 promo and I got further £9 credit for buying gift cards earlier, leaving me paying £292 for the card. This was yesterday afternoon, and the card has already arrived and inside my rig:) Thanks a lot for helping to make this happen!!

That's the one I got: MSI 1080 Gaming X I'm running tests right now, and not sure about gaming, but for rendering (FStorm), driver 378.78 gave me significantly better results than the newer ones (382.??) - The GPU Usage fluctuates a lot with later drivers while with 378.78 it's pretty much topped out when rendering. Not sure how/if that translate to games, but might worth a try for those who were disappointed by the performance.

Ok so it is slightly different to mine as I managed to get the Gaming X Plus. But it's still an amazing price and a better deal than I got to be honest. Thanks for the heads up on the driver situation. I think the reason I was underwhelmed with the performance was to do with the two Ubisoft games that max out my i5 CPU causing it to bottleneck the GTX 1080. I do get some coil whine but I think it only happens with G-SYNC and V-SYNC off, on loading screens and menus when the FPS go sky high. Normal gameplay it's silent.

Thanks everyone! Guys if you havnt succeeded don't give up! I emailed this address with my phone number and asked for a call back [email protected]amazon.co.uk
I spoke to an Indian guy who said the best he could do was £400 and that's against company policy. I didn't accept that I said can you do 360 as of the circumstances. He went away for a few minutes and said yes. I wish I pushed for more now haha! But I'm happy with the £10 discount I got from the other day I've paid 350 for a 1080

Success here too guys! Tried live chat about 10 times over the past two month and got nothing. Requested a call back last night and spoke to a "manager" who was very unhelpful and couldn't do anything. Told him I wanted to speak to his manager. He told me he was the highest level manager there. Only thing he could do was organise a member of staff from the uk call centre to call me today. I received a call around 9:30am this morning and spoke to a lovely Irish lady. She offered me the difference via a gift card! I couldn't believe it. She gave me £193 gift card credit which means I can buy the EVGA 1080 for the same price as the MSI 1070 I had on order. What a result! She also emailed me to confirm:
Hello Jack,
This is Sarah and I'm part of the management team at Amazon.
I'm sorry to hear about the issue with the delay in your order for the MSI V330-069R GeForce GTX 1070 Quick Silver 8G OC PCIE 3.0/8 GB GDDR5 256 Bit Graphics Card - Black.
As discussed, I'm happy to provide you with a gift card for the £193.00 price difference so you can go ahead and place a new order for the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC GAMING ACX 3.0, 8GB GDDR5X, LED, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC) Graphics Card 08G-P4-6183-KR.
I've added the gift card to your account now. When you place your next order, on the payment section of our online order form, you should see that the Gift Card funds have been automatically applied to your order. If you don't see this credit in the order cost summary, make sure the radio button is selected under the words "You have £193.00 in gift cards or promotional credit available for use toward this purchase. Would you like to apply it?"
Please note that you can also apply a Gift Card after you've placed an order, provided that none of the items in the order are marked as "Dispatching soon". For instructions on how to do this, see our Help page:
As requested, I've cancelled your order # 206-6359277-7088354 and you haven’t been charged for it.
I hope this helps. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Warmest regards,
Sarah Amazon.co.uk Your feedback is helping us build Earth's Most Customer-Centric Company.

What are the dates for destiny 2 is the msi card entitled to it?
So I purchased the EVGA GTX 1070 FTW instead of the 1080. I only have a 1080p monitor so I thought the 1080 would be a waste. I've installed the card and tested it on a few games. DOOM, Crysis 3, Titanfall 2 and Gears of war 4. It perform worse than my MSI GTX 980ti. Yes it's more efficient and cooler temps wise but on Crysis 3 it's 10 FPS down, DOOM it's 15 FPS down and the same goes for the other games just not quite as much. I've tried to OC it but it will hardly take any overclock at all. +60 on the clock and around +150 on the memory. Anything else and it crashes. Think I'll be sending it back. I wasn't expecting it to be far superior to the 980ti but I didn't think it would be worse
Just.Wondering
15 Sep 17#380
A 980ti = gtx 1070, pretty much a side grade, no real difference, might be worth offering to someone on the site for the price you paid.

Finally had a result that helped.
I found an email for the directors for amazon.
I explained the situation.
I then jad an email back with someone responding in behalf of the director who said he will investigate.
Few days went by and I heard nothing. So I emailed to ask if there was any update.
He replied saying that yes the stock was out and they dont know when it will be in so he asked to find a similar product to price match.
I chose the msi 1070 red which is very similar with a price of £475.
So he added a gift card with the difference of £165 for me to purchase.
So looks like I will be able to get a 1080 for around £360.
Anyone still trying just comment and I'll go find the email again.

There is a 6gb 1060 for £220 with a wait
And the good thing is they are limiting orders to 1, so miners can sod off :stuck_out_tongue:
SLI and Crossfire are garbage and work well in only a handful of games.
Save that money and get an upgrade when a nice one comes out.
Think my 23" 1080p & gtx 780 are definitely due an upgrade though
I'm waiting for the MSI Gaming X 1070 which is almost identical, which just bumped back up from £410 to £450.
I'm not bothered by color, so snapped this up! And if this drop is a precursor to a widespread easing of prices, we've got 3 weeks to find a better deal.

Using a 21:9 at 1080p a 1060 or 580 is probably all that is needed at the moment but they are already struggling with a few games, so the extra £100 for an extra year or two seems worth it.

I don't think any sane person is going to spend upwards of £500 for a gtx 1070 on ebay. Just because there are listings at this amount does not mean they are selling anywhere near often enough to expect to get this amount for yourself.
Im sure it said 2-3 weeks when we ordered?
Waiting a month is annoying... i couod have bought i different gpu and been enjoying my machine..
Its literally gone from 2-3 weeks to 4-5!
I would have happily paid extra 2 weeks ago if i knew it could take a month+
As for having rights, im pretty sure they have already debited my amazon account?
Either way theres still hope for me, I havent been delayed yet!
It was 2-3 weeks estimated delivery time not a guarantee and that was even posted by the OP.
But I shall take faith from those that have had their orders dispatched , so finger crossed , not much longer now........
Please dont get delayed!
Obviously fan gets louder running full on but then that's to be expected!

I guess it will get delaye till august in the 26th.. which is quite annoying that they have no idea of stock levels or expected stock.

Judging by what some of you have been told by Amazon support, delay being more likely.
"We're preparing your order. Carrier information will be updated soon."
Don't know if it said anything like that before but I can hope mine is going out today.
"As we discussed, we've contacted our buying team to check the availability of the suppliers from various distribution centre.
We've received an update that the item will be available on 13 August 2017 for 121 quantities.
Once we receive an item it is dispatched according to the method you specify. We rely on the suppliers for up-to-date information regarding the availability of this item and unfortunately, that's all we have to go by.

And that less than 121 were ordered.
"Not yet dispatched
This is what I got...
Is it worth asking MSI?
I ordered mine in the 7th July, hopefully this won't mean a late September dispatch.
Hello,
Greetings from Amazon.co.uk.
I understand that you wish to know when the item "MSI V330-069R GeForce GTX 1070 Quick Silver 8G OC PCIE 3.0/8 GB GDDR5 256 Bit Graphics Card - Black" comes in stock with us.
I have contacted the buying team for you and they have updated me that item will be in stock with us on following dates:
56 quantities on August 29, 2017.
44 quantities on August 30, 2017.
Please rest assured that your order as expected as soon it is stocked and will be delivered by then.
Orders can be dispatched right up until the night prior to delivery, depending on the service used. We'll send you an e-mail when your order dispatches and you'll be able to follow its progress in Your Account.
I'm really sorry delay in responding. Since I need to check with more than one team on this, it has taken some extra time for me to update you.
We hope to see you again soon.
I also asked for a dispatch date, stating other people have been getting their dates and CS was unhelpful.
Good luck!!
Hello,
I'm Sandeep, one of the Supervisors at Amazon.co.uk.
Warmest regards,
Sandeep
They are now showing as in stock.
Advisor checked with their manager and was told it was against policy and I was given £10 credit instead.
I just bought a 1080 at £480 in the meantime.
1. They screwed up. (Well, duh)
2. As it stands now, the orders won't be processed, at least they have 0 information on it ever coming back in stock.
I tried to get price match on a different card, but no joy (apart from an offer for a £10 discount on an another card).
Amazon now showing the 1080 as in stock 4th September. My order is apparently being prepared for dispatch but looks like I could be waiting longer than I thought. Not again surely!?!
Initially they said they could only offer up to £70 value and to pick something in the same price range, but when I mentioned that prices are now inflated 2 months later, and that the MSI model I ordered would cost more than the EVGA if it was in stock, they said they could do it.
Being delivered on Monday.
I pretty much try it now daily, but the supervisors / leads offer no help at all
Amazon need to come up with a policy to look after everyone who ordered these MSI cards.
asked for the chat to be escalated to a supervisor who then said that there are no known dates for stock and hes not sure where the previous adviser got his dates from. queried possibility of another card + discount but got no where.
Their buying team has probably already given up and isn't even looking.
I expect I'll hold off buying a new card now until we get a look at the AIB Vega 56s or later if they do not impress.
Maybe when the 1080 arrives I'll try some other games. My two boys I'll have the 970 in their PC.

So a evga gtx 1080 and a free destiny 2 code for £351.99 is all good by me
Me: I've waited so long for it to come, in the meanwhile prices have risen a lot.
They then offered to help me with the price of a new Amazon sold item. It took a couple goes to get and I ended up naming a price of 340 and they accepted it.
The chat took almost an hour so stay persistent
Possibly it's my i5 CPU but lowering settings doesn't seem to do much.
Edit: I got an e-mail from the same guy to follow up on the chat.
Give it a whirl.
The proofs in the pudding , so have your cake and eat it .
"My name is Daithí, I am one of the Customer Service Supervisors on duty today."
Did you receive a email too after speaking with them ?
There seems to be a few posts on the Ubisoft forums complaining of a recent drop in FPS and stutter.
Should arrive by Tuesday.
Firstly, I was hopeful, or maybe naïve.
I contacted amazon maybe every 2 – 3 days once first ordering, always being told that my item was being dispatched, or even out for delivery. I would then contact them the next day to say that the tracking had not been updated/delivered was not made, to then be told that the previous CS agent had lied, I would then request compensation, the initial offer would be 3-5 GBP, I would refuse and they would offer 10 GBP.
This went on for about a month with me gaining around £90.00 I believe, after this time I hit the “cancellation wall”, every CS would suggest I cancelled and no more compensation was offered and I was told I had reached the maximum amount allowed for one order.
As we approached the 2 month mark, I began to contact CS again, but this time requesting an item to replace the undelivered order. To be told time and time again this was not possible (by phone, by email, by live chat)
2 days before the 2 month mark I thought I would try again, this time I found a similar item the MSI 1080 8gb, I went into a chat explained the story, and requested they sent me this card, each CS refused saying it was not possible. Maybe 8-10th CS I explained my copy and pasted story, and they replied with a simple “yes” – they questioned the fact the 1080 was different to my original order, thinking on my feet as I actually hadn’t planned to get this far, I came out with some nonsense about how they were both 8gb and that was all that matter and the 1070 referred to the item being silver and the 1080 to the item being red…. They agreed. I requested them applied the same “discount” (do not use “price match” this is a big NO NO flagged phrase from amazon) be applied, I explained about prices being inflated now etc. The CS just agreed and asked me to purchase the item and the discount would be applied, I asked them to spell it out, that if I purchased this £509.98 item would be reduced the same as my original order, they agreed. I purchased waited on the chat as they began to change the cost of the item, after 5 minutes I was asked to refresh and a total of £200 was now being charged for this item. As you can imagine I thanked them and ended the chat.
This was due to be delivered on the 7th, as you can expect the date came and went, no delivery, I was told an attempt was made, and I left instruction to leave the item in a secure place. This was not followed, I called that evening and was told a redelivery would be made that evening up until 10pm, (before this was placed on hold for 45minutes prior by another CS and then hung up on), 10pm came and went and no delivery, I was told “100% no matter what” it would be deliver on the 8th. Again it was not, I contacted CS once again and was told that no action had been taken on my account and that the parcel was not out for delivery, I was then told it was out for delivery and not to worry it would be here before 10pm and to extend my patience. I contacted them again (it really is just a lottery) and was told my item was damaged and was being returned to amazon no delivery would be made, I was informed I needed to make a new delivery, the earliest available delivery was Monday, I explained this was not good enough etc. apologies were offered and I was told hard luck. I contacted CS via live chat, explained the situation and that Monday was not good enough, (lottery again 3rd agent) I suggested the only card I could find for next day delivery 1080ti 11g, I was told it was too expensive (£919.99). I explained how my previous order had a discount applied surely he could apply the same discount, he said it was not possible it was too expensive etc. He said my other item would arrive before the 11th don’t worry, I insisted I did not believe him explaining how ordered for the 7th. He was slightly understanding I pushed on the 1080 ti once again and then suggested he suggest some items, however everything he offered was to be delivered on the 11th. I explained this was what I was trying to avoid I wanted it next working day. I explained how the 1080ti was only a little more expensive and was available next day. I offered to pay an additional £50, (total £250) I explained how I thought that was fair seeing as the delivery meant I could receive this the next day. He accepted and once again I purchased the item at full price and it was adjusted it to £250 + £4.49 express delivery).
Somehow I went for a 1070 at £312, to a 1080 at £200, to a 1080ti at £250 – with the addition of £90 promotion credit.
1) waited 2 months patiently and numerous promises about delivery and getting back in touch broken - also lost out on offers on other cards that i didnt go for waiting for this order to come through
2) 1070 prices have risen sharply - suggested they view the closest MSI 1070 card which is now on amazon at £448 (£137 difference
3) have lost second hand value on my old 970 card had i been able to sell it 2months ago (~ £30)
I unfortunately tripped up a bit suggesting the red msi 1070 was the same but with 'slightly different performance'.. shouldnt have said the last bit.. they initially offered me £60 as a token gesture.. i rejected that on the basis that:
1) £311 and £60 is £371 and you cant buy any 1070 on amazon currently for £371
2) lost second hand value as above
They then price matched to the white asus 1070 (at £398 - this is where i couldnt get past the fact i had mentioned slight performance difference of the other card.. maybe i could have pushed it harder though).. questioned if i could apply the £88 difference to a different card and they agreed to apply it to the 'Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 1080' and re-apply the expedited shipping.. not as great a deal as others on here but im happy enough at £401.. coming tomorrow
GL to anyone still waiting to try this.. getting a call back is the way forward
I'm running tests right now, and not sure about gaming, but for rendering (FStorm), driver 378.78 gave me significantly better results than the newer ones (382.??) - The GPU Usage fluctuates a lot with later drivers while with 378.78 it's pretty much topped out when rendering. Not sure how/if that translate to games, but might worth a try for those who were disappointed by the performance.
I do get some coil whine but I think it only happens with G-SYNC and V-SYNC off, on loading screens and menus when the FPS go sky high. Normal gameplay it's silent.
I get a voucher here and there, but I think my return on whinge time is barely minimum wage!
But I'm happy with the £10 discount I got from the other day I've paid 350 for a 1080
Hello Jack,
This is Sarah and I'm part of the management team at Amazon.
Would you like to apply it?"
Please note that you can also apply a Gift Card after you've placed an order, provided that none of the items in the order are marked as "Dispatching soon". For instructions on how to do this, see our Help page:

It really is a lottery with their CS.
"I understand that you've ordered the GeForce GTX 1080 but you haven't received the code for Destiny 2. Please don't worry, I’m going to do my very best to help you.
I apologise as the code wasn't sent to you till now.
I can confirm that you were eligible for this incentive and I'm happy to send your code, as follows:"
But I will be testing the code straight away once it arrives....that is for sure.
Have a read.... It pays to complain, the squeaky wheel, gets the oil.
I asked for a supervisor to look into it and they emailed me the same rubbish that they cant offer anything else.
so looks like the only way is to ask for a call from head office.
did you ask for this on webchat or call them and ask for head office?
thanks
Who the f*#k do they have working for them? Aarrgghhh!
Although I have been playing Destiny 2 on the PS4 , I am still looking forward to 4k , 60fps, 1080p at 30fps is bearable...due to the excellent gameplay , plus I managed to suffer 800 hours of Destiny 1 at 30fps....so I am kind of use to it
Good luck!
Code has been entered and redeemed.

Just spoke with Customer Escalations, after 4 emails who've told me Amazon don't issue codes for promos and I need to get in touch with the manufacturer :joy:
It would be a shame if we all ordered 1080s and they developed faults a few months later and had to be returned...
If you could share the email address, it would be appreciated - thank you!
Here
It's been 3 months and I'm still waiting, just sending me the copy/pasta mails and getting nowhere with delivery dates.
It does seem that the card was in stock but I was nowhere near the top of the queue...
Heard nothing from the department and it's been 24 hours, so I guess nothings gonna happen :disappointed:
