Very good price, but worth noting this is the 2015 version of the machine, not the updated 2017 version. Both very similar, but still... it's 2 years old tech, so this is not quite cutting edge anymore. Last gen CPU and shorter battery life.

CPU isn't bad at all. 3000 points on passmark is damn impressive for a passive ultra low wattage chip.
The memory is much more of a let down. Cheap ass Microsoft couldn't put 8GB as the standard minimum. Would be perfect otherwise as a complimentary device to go with a main rig.

Well, this got me curious - there are replacement batteries for sale on eBay so you can change replace the battery.

I've had a samsung series 5 ultrabook for around 4 years also with the "irreplaceable" battery...tbh the battery has really not deteriorated that much over the last 4 years despite heavy-ish use.
Just looking for something a bit more since my power jack is now a bit dodgy (I dropped it and broke plastic around it). Would totally go for this if only it was 8gb ram

Once you add the keyboard and pen, the 2017 model is around twice the price of this though. I'd heard about the battery and yeah the combination of the extra battery and the frequency scaling of the CPU in the new model should give a much better battery life, but I had to decide that just wasn't worth double the price - especially with the prospect of ARM powered Surfaces by the end of the year.
I've ordered one of these (thanks smsmasters!), because I wanted a cheaper Surface, not as a workhorse but as a tablet, browser, media viewer but with pen capabilities for note taking and for using the excellent staffpad for music.

CPU isn't nearly as bad as everyone thinks. However be prepared to be disappointed by the battery life :disappointed:

I was disappointed by the processor & the battery life. Seemed considerably slower than my i3 laptop.
Nope. Select black type cover.

I paid £500 for same deal a few months ago, this is bargain haven't seen at this price since I got mine. Battery life is fine but not great. I have the M3 model which is of course fanless, and performance has been fine. Newer model slightly better but not worth the extra cost.

Is this better than the Asus Zenbook FLIP UX360CA-C4177T on prime deal for £589?

No. More battery life, more processing power, more ram, more storage on the ASUS. The asus in my opinion is far superior however, the surface is no slouch, and I guess would appeal to a different market. The build quality of the Surface is great - some reports of the ASUS not being so.

Use this every day at uni and work. Processor good for browsing, watching kodi, MS office stuff, I do simple photoshop type stuff, annotate and edit pdfs. Never had an issue or slow ups. Battery will last me about 7 hours.

Im interested in a surface, but the prices make me run away screaming.
Has anyone got a Lenovo MIIX 310 ? Looks like a great machine that's basically same as this but 64GB not 128 but has a memory slot

The Surface has a MicroSD slot.

The CPU is a lot slower in the Miix.
It'll also be using slower eMMC storage.
The display is lower resolution.
I have the older Miix 300 and while it's good for a cheap 2in1 Windows device it's nowhere near the level of a Surface.
