Following on from the Screwfix offer on a Mountfield lawnmower this lawnmower at The Range online appears to be a much better deal with alloy deck and Honda engine Sadly they dont deliver to N.I so may have to purchase the Mountfield

Mainly cold as it's not a £40 flymo. Premium products rarely fly on this site.

No, because the Honda engine would expire :stuck_out_tongue:

Mmm. Honda engine, best ask Alonso what he thinks of that!

Why? Is Alonso going to mow my lawn?

Picture certainly looks the same. Variable speed, Honda engine and aluminium deck... amazing for this price.

I'm pretty sure this is the recent model of the m51-160CMDAlu, self propelled with variable clutch which is a life saver on complicated lawns. I'm a gardener and bought the previously mentioned model from the Range 2 years ago for £309.99. I use it 20 hours a week in summer and it's brilliant! For the money it is the best I could find when I was looking. The Honda engine is hugely reliable, aluminium deck doesn't wear like a steel deck & variable clutch means you can set off in a corner slowly and speed up on a straight.

Idle screw only available alteration. Even jets can't be removed.
Junk really but for £130 it's lasted 3yrs so join the throw away culture....

According to the Amazon reviews referred to earlier this is a rebranded Husqvarna

I've had that on my mount field. 30+ years old, usually the mixture screw. Plus changed spark plug last year, boy did that help! Tecumseh engine. I know on later mowers you can fiddle too much with them.

Very true lol...
My mountfield is on its way out, hunting all the time, cleaned carb etc, had no effect. So putting up with it till it dies or autumn, then gonna buy another one.

Wait until autumn if you can, mowers will be a lot cheaper then

Honda engine?! expect it to break down half way through..
I thought it was self propelled as well. Could only find this reference for the size and honda engine
M51-160CMDAALU
Reference to belt drive from constant speed engine on one of the site.
Would be good if they listed a manuf product code.

Yes, this one's not self propelled, which would be fine if you have a flat lawn. On a sloping one, pushing a 40kg mower is going to be hard work.

I cant tell from the picture shown if its a steel deck for the main housing but other McCullochs on their website don't mention an Alloy deck, to me a key buying decision, they all say Steel Decks. Perhaps this is an import? I would want to inspect first. Has anyone purchased this and checked? Thanks
I'm sure it would say if it was self propelled. Usually a key selling point

Looks like it may be self propelled from picture. Just not the usual 2 pull handles. I may be wrong of course!

Or maybe it is so slow it takes forever to finish the lawn that's if it doesn't break down.....

Definitely a good value lawnmower with alloy deck and a central level adjustment...wish they could deliver to my area as I'd have purchased without a doubt

Probably because the screw fix one is self propelled and this one isn't. Worth the extra £25 in my opinion if your garden is on a slope

If this does have the Honda engine then its a decent deal. I just bought a new Honda Izzy last week for about £350, great machine, last one lasted about 20 years and only the steel skirt corroded eventually. Never any bother with the Honda engine though in all that time.
