Linksys EA6350 Dual Band Smart Wi-Fi Gigabit Router, Nice router with good features at a reasonable price. I think this is the lowest price that it has been on Amazon, previously dropped to £50.00 and was posted on HUKD 6 months ago.
I am on hyperoptic and the orginal router is rubbish IMO, if I want to use this instead, will I require a modem or can just replace with this one. thanks

Switch the Virgin router to modem mode, and connect it to this router and it should work.

Depends how savvy your friends are. Wouldn't stop me.it would just take me 3mins longer.
Plus people who know you will most likely guess it.

A simple password for logging into the admin panel would've been sufficient to stop them cheeky

over exaggerate a bit there juux the app works fine you can set priories for devices, change passwords all the usual stuff.
But you'll have to have use either remote access or access the router thought a pc/ laptop to do advance forwarding and DMZ
Juux is right in saying the router will block your mobile browser from entering. Good idea I thought. Stops tech savvy guests from messing up my settings.

Be wary of these. They work well enough but to administer them from a phone* takes, unbelievably, a dedicated app, not just an HTML interface which Linksys actively block on mobile browsers.
They could give no sound reason for this when I questioned them about it but you can guess what happens to mobile admin in 1/2/? years when they stop supporting the app...
*I quite often use it for enabling or disabling a group of devices that the kids use.

Thank you, worth considering if that's a feature you activeley use. But for the speeds and other features, as just a home router this seems to be good value option for most looking to upgrade a bit over there isp's router.
Hmm, near identical in features. I think the one you have linked is the old version basically, this was released much later than the one you linked. Does have external antennas as well with perhaps a few extra firmware/software features.
Opening post
