You're not being thick, it's genuinely confusing (darn this 4K marketing nonsense).
'2K' as far as I can tell is a marketing department telling you a monitor has a horizontal resolution of... uh, more than 2048 pixels, which is a bit silly since a 2048 pixel wide by 1 pixel tall monitor wouldn't be very useful. Anyway a 1080p monitor's pretty close at 1920 pixels but this one is 2560 wide. Usually '2K' monitors are also 16:9 aspect ratio, so are 2560 x 1440 pixels, but this one is not, it has a 21:9 aspect ratio so is only 1080 pixels tall.
tl;dr kinda.

aww my... on prime day I have ordered a 27 inch curved samsung monitor (Samsung LS27E591C) from amazon warehouse for 119ish quid. However when it arrived I notied a crack in the case, I contacted amazon and they refunded me 15% of the cost, making this around a 100, but now this pops out (I can buy it for 155 using the 5 quid voucher from prime deal and student10 code)... ahhh so tempting :disappointed:
Edit: ahh, not tempting anymore, ordered and the 27inch samsung is going back

I just got back from holiday and will be installing the monitor today. If I don't like the aspect ration, would anyone in London be interested in buying it?

Would this be any better for gaming than my 27" 2560 x 1440 which I bought a few years back when seen on here.

You'd be willing to downgrade to 1080p?
I hear ultra wide is really immersive for gaming but personally I want to upgrade from 1080p to 1440p 165hz

I don't think so.

That depends on what you want. It's a smaller screen (diagonals aren't comparable across aspect ratios) but it's also offers a wider field of view and will give you better performance due to fewer pixels.

Personaly from a 27" Wide to 29" UW is not going to be a big difference for gaming. I went from 22" Wide to 29" UW. I would say next step up from a 27" W would be the 34" UW
I have the 29UT55V which is very similar if not the same pretty much. Fantastic Monitor for the money.

FYI although Currys have it on their site (for collection only) I don't believe anyone has yet managed to find a store in the whole of the UK that has one on stock (that isn't ex-display).

Yeah, trying to import TV terminology for monitors has always been an awkward fit. The closest description would be Wide Full HD, but it's simpler just to quote the resolution and call it 2560x1080 (or 25x10 if you want to shorten).

Sitting here undecided which is stupid considering I was on Currys yesterday looking at this. I expanded the stock radius so far that it likely covered half or Europe!!
Ordered on standard delivery to give me a couple of days to decide.
