Even after all these years people still don't get how the internal storage and memory card storage work. Basically, all your apps are stored to internal storage. Yes there are some you can move to memory card but not many and not all of each app. The memory card is meant for you to store your media on. Music, photos, videos, etc. Since Android Marshmallow 6.0 Android allows you to format the memory card as internal storage (Adoptable Storage) so whenever you download an app it'd probably store it to memory card. Doesn't work for all apps. Banking apps and other apps which need to be secure will still go to internal storage but basically you'd be able to store a lot more apps this way than if you was running an older version of Android. Apps such as Snapchat which usually save your pics to internal storage would be saved to memory card. Hope this helps people understand.

I find these tablets, even once you expand the storage they still fill up very quickly. The yoga tab I had, you had to manually move apps over to the sd card and a lot of things wouldn't move so it was a hassle.

I'm having this problem with mine, it came with 16gb of storage, I put a 32gb card in and moved as many apps as I could to the card but the internal storage is still full and won't allow me to install anything else even though there's loads of space available on the card. Is this due to all the preloaded apps and their updates that cant be moved to sd or am I doing something wrong?

1GB RAM seems very light these days. These Tab 3 models seem to be a retrograde steel from the Tab 2's

Yup - just looking at my Tab 2, thinking about an upgrade, and it has 2GB RAM, 4 Core CPU 1.7Ghz

Not sure this is entirely correct! What qualifications do you have to make such a conclusion???

Yes, thanks for a good summary and agree with you.
Furthermore, an xda person came out with a tool to partition eg 10% of microsd as adoptable storage and rest as portable storage but its still being ironed out and may not work for all abd your comments on what can be moved over applies. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/auto-formatting-sdcard-to-internal-t3583875

What waynester21 wrote is accurate and valid, you are welcome to doublecheck from one of the noob sections on xda-developers. If your focus is on qualifications, what kind of qualifications are you expecting?

So someone cant know what they're talking about without having a qualification? You not being sure waynester21 is correct hasn't really swayed me as what he said rung true with me, we are all willing to be corrected including waynester21 im sure, you just had to provide a source that counters what he said.

LOL ! Your request for qualifications to back up Waynester21's well-informed spot-on statement gave me the best laugh I've had all week. Even though you didn't mean it to sound so daft, thank you anyway.

This is why i don't think you are qualified to come to such a conclusion.....
Not a very clever statement.....
FYI, SD cards can provide 24 MB/s avg. And internal can provide like 100-300 MB more speed than the SD card. Putting apps on SD card may slow down the app when the data transmission rate is slow.

I come to this conclusion because I have the devices to try it out on. I have a Marshmallow device with a memory card formatted as internal storage. That's how I know how the adoptable storage method works. Of course it's slower but it doesn't matter once the app is loaded into RAM. It's much better to have slower loading apps than no apps at all due to low storage. I was trying it out with a U1 class card. It's a fantastic idea which Google should have came up with sooner. Everything I have said is true to stock Android. I know companies such as Samsung have disabled the adoptable storage feature, although it's still accessible via other methods.

Also, this 24MB/s thing.. Where are you getting this information? The packaging to my Samsung memory card states it has an average of 20MB/s write speed and 80MB/s read speed.

depend on components of device etc etc.... not as simple as reading numbers printed on plastic exteriors.
(i don't know who is right, but i would rather run a OS from a ssd etc.... so i think he has a valid point)
1gb ram for a tablet is quite poor factually though, relatively speaking.
waynester21
2 Jul 17#25
That's right which means an average of 24MB/s is an incorrect assumption.
I own this tablet and it is slow. I only use it to watch films on and play games using emulators with a Bluetooth controller and it's perfect for that. It even plays Sega Dreamcast games. It cost me £36.

Absolutely terrible tablet. It has the performance and looks of a 2014 cheap tablet. 1GB ram + Mediatek 8127 are simply not enough for today's apps or Android OS. *** Mediatek MT8127 Announcement Date 06/01/2014. The MediaTek MT8127 is a cheap ARM-SoC (System on a Chip) that is mainly used in Android based tablets. It is manufactured in 28 nm and integrates a quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz (typically), a ARM Mali-450 MP4 graphics card (at 600 MHz) and a single channel 32 Bit DDDR3-1333 memory controller (max. 5.3 GB/s).*** Before addinh heat to something you people should do some research.

I got the 16gb/2gb version from Tesco over the weekend watch out as there are lots of different versions of the Tab3 I've got the TB3-730F, If you can find a TB3-730X which has built it 4G Modem.
Its a good little thing ideal for what i need it for on holiday.
It runs any app I've thrown at it, (Star wars Galaxy of hero's) Ok the screen rez is a little low 1024x600.
Its got built in GPS (No compass) and FM Radio, Bluetooth and the Wifi is fast but only 2.4 as it doesn't support 5ghz.
Ok is a little sluggish to start with had to do 3 ota updates and now it fly's along.
It plays 1080p/720p vids just file without lagging, music is fine as well... Cameras are basic, I used it all day yesterday and battery was still at 42% by bed time.
Sound from the front facing speaker is adequate just to hear something.
Supports OTG so connecting Mouse/Keyboard/Flash Drives all work.
For £60 does a grate job for media/web browsing/GPS

Sounds interesting that, but, wouldn't it be wierd though, only formatting just 10% of the MicroSD Card, while still retaining 90% of it in an otherwise 'unformatted' state, or something?, or ..... thanx. :-)
