The P8 Lite 2017 is better than the original P8 (non-lite). It has better cameras, a faster processor and GPU, and larger battery capacity. Also it runs Android 7.

Its a stupid name for the phone as everyone expects it to be worse than the P8 and P9 Lite, when its actually better than both.

Would this be much of an upgrade to a Samsung galaxy s5? Mines started having bad screen flicker and camera can be a bit slow but takes good pics.

Will 16GB be enough over the 32GB in the Moto G5 Plus? Have it whittled down to these two and just need to order one come the morning.

I find the camera is laggy when opened and takes a few seconds before the screen updates. Do you also find this?

bought this for £180 last week , saw this post so contacted customer services who refunded £30 , no quibbles . delighted .

only had it a week but no issues yet , also bought a screen protector but then found that it comes with a decent factory fitted one .

Saw this at lunchtime and was left impressed with the build quality. CPW didn't have the G5 Plus which I initially went in to get. Just need to decide between the two and order tonight. Anyone else opted for this over the Moto G5 Plus? I couldn't delete the stock apps which found odd and cameras autofocus wasn't always kicking in but it was bolted to the wall so couldn't test properly. It's replacing a Moto G3 so should be much better.

Yes, I have left both the front and rear covers on. This cheap eBay case fits perfectly.

Did yours come with a screen protector already fitted? From reading the comments on gsmarena it seems some people removed it, could be why some aren't smooth.

But what about compared to this P8 lite? A quick search suggests the £50 extra gets you a bit of a CPU boost but loses you a compass.

Yes, especially for £149. Other than the missing features I mentioned, which I was aware of before i bought it, yes it's a great mid-range phone. Finger print scanner works perfectly, great screen, NFC (Android pay (I'm using Halifax)) works perfectly. Probably the most impressive thing is the battery life. I'm pleased with the camera too.

Thoughts on the phone: Great battery life, shame it doesn't have 5Ghz WiFi or 802.11ac, no quick charge, no USB Type-C, camera slow to start. Unlike the GSMARENA specs it does include a gyro. Some reviews mention the screen is not smooth but I don't have a problem with it.

I bought in car phone warehouse for £180 last week

Got a P8 when they first came out and was impressed with the bang for buck you get. What was not so impressive was the support Huawei give there products. There was no android update and I was advised there would not be any, and this for what at the time was the flagship device which had only been released 15 months earlier. For this reason I only buy from producers who have a history of supporting their products.

This sounds a good deal, my p8 exploded in holiday need a new phone. Is this the best UK bang for Buck with a good camera?

They are very different.

Oneplus is bigger, phablet sized (5.5"), whereas the P8 Lite 2017 is smaller, but with the same screen resolution.

Technically the OnePlus 2 has better specs overall, but it uses the much maligned SD810 chipset, which has well known issues with over heating and over throttling, causing slow performance and excess battery drain.

Good price. There is barely a difference between this and the P9 Lite, but I personally prefer the design of the P8 Lite 2017.

This model is also sold as the Honor 8 Lite in some countries.
