Seems like a good price for a decent spec phone. Looking to replace my Honor 7 with another Huawei but wanted one with NFC and more storage and this seems to fit the bill.
I know that Huawei can be slow to release updates but I've not had many issues with my Honor as I've managed to run LOS on it.
£10 Quidco available too.

Did they give any reasons as to why they recommend it over the g5 plus? How are you finding the p10 lite?

Thanks crossbow, for the info... Tbh had problems with the Sony Z3 from the start, software problems, overheating from using a bit, low ring tone on maximum... Allways missed calls. Various speaker problems, really low muffled sound in general and on speaker phone can't t hear the person. Generally not a good handset I think.
This is the 2nd Z3 I've had the first was sent off to Sony with similar problems, they sent another phone back different imei number. Had the same issues with both phones.
Bit the bullet today and purchased the Huawei P10 lite from Carphone warehouse in the end. Staff in 2 stores suggested this over the Moto g5 +. Got to be better than the Sony Z3... I hope (nerd)

I bought yesterday the gold version. Looks great. Interestingly, the cashier at CPW mentioned that Huawei would give a three month guarantee against damage of the screen. If there are any problems with the screen within this period, you would have to bring the phone to CWP. Screen replacement would be for free. I intend to verify this statement later today at a different CWP shop.

Bought the g5 plus. Seems a decent phone but it is big. Screen smaller than old LG but handset bigger
Not sure how it compares with Huawei

Cheers @dws199 I ended up getting a few bits from eBay. Will setup the phone over the weekend and handover.

Cheers OP! I ordered one for a family member. Tried it out at lunchtime and was impressed with it. Felt a premium handset and was nippy and also should last them a while. Just need to order them a glass screen protector and a slim case. Any recommendations?

This is the case I went for, it seems good, very slim and grippy enough.
For the screen protector I went for this one, fortunately it's a 2 pack as I messed up the first one, however I'm not all that impressed with it as it seems to be quite a bit smaller than it needs to be (to avoid the curved edges)

Huawei are decent, have a P9 and a P9 lite.Updated firmware as had issues with camera, sorted now.Only issue i have is the "do not disturb" feature activates at random and also no notifications for threaded messages (P9) so have missed a few important messages.

How does this phone compare to a Galaxy Note 4? Would it be a big downgrade? My Note has the dreaded motherboard issue and it's put me right off another Samsung - I was going to wait for the Note 8.
Whatever phone I replace it with it needs to have a great camera and i'm guessing i'm expecting too much at this price point?

If you look for a phone with good camera within a similar price range, than you could have a look at the Moto G5 plus.

G5+ is currently £269 with additional £10 cashback via TCB or Quidco, whereas this is £20 cheaper. In the store, both looked to be impressive, with this probably slightly better designed. Camera seems to be better on G5+

Which one are you going for? I'm still undecided...

Thanks for this, I have thought the same thing about the screen protector issue as a friend has an s7 and can't get a glass screen protector to stay on because of the curve. I currently have a Samsung s5 which has I've dropped so many times but with a glass screen protector on and luckily it's not broken yet.

I'm wondering the same thing, g5+ is probably more likely to get updates and faster and has gorilla glass, but I don't think the design is as nice with the ugly camera bump on the back.

This or a G5+?

I chose this as I thought the build quality of my Honor 7 was great, and having just received the P10 Lite I can confirm that the build quality is of the same high standard. Also this has a smaller screen than the G5+ which I prefer, and it has a compass which could be useful

Bought their flagship P8 when it was brought out and the stopped updates after 11 months. Will never but another Huawei again.

Had about 12 updates since I bought my P8 in Feb2016 from CPW - last 8 have been one every month. Latest security patch is July 2017 - view screenshot from my phone below. Most obtained via the free Huawei Firmware Finder app (your phone must not be network-branded & non-rooted for these updates to work):

Interesting reading about Hardness versus toughness on mobile screens is here "http://www.itworld.com/article/2833434/mobile/hardness-is-not-toughness--why-your-phone-s-screen-may-not-scratch--but-will-shatter.html". Huawei gives the p10 Lite a 7 on the Mohs scale of hardness which should be Ok against scratching. You can buy a screen protector. Issue is the 2.5D double sided curve of the screen of the P10 Lite. Most protectors I can see on Amazon are slightly shorter because they don't follow the curve. By the way, on the Mohs scale Gorilla 2 gets a 6 and Gorilla 3 rates 6.7. Meaning, in any case you should be careful when you take a phone to the beach because there is no protection against quartz.

Oh right thanks for that, I wonder what protection it does have then? I would be a bit worried about dropping it and it smashing...

Are Huawei slow with the monthly security updates too or just the os? Anyone have any idea if this has gorilla glass?

I'm tempted by one of these, as its comparable with the G5 plus but appears to have a compass built in.
I'm just waiting on details of the G5S due to be announced tomorrow (25th).

Looks like a good deal. I’m using a P9 Lite as a backup and it’s the smoothest android phone I’ve ever had. I agree with the slow updates as mine is still waiting for nougat lol. Is LOS as smooth and quick as the stock firmware?
dws199 to leelukehope
24 Jul 17#3
Yes LOS is very smooth, battery life could be better but I'm not sure if that's just due to LOS or the age of the battery, I suspect the latter

If this was nearer £200, I'd be all over it. For £250, may be more tempted by something like a used S6. Not hot or cold for me.
