Dropping before Pixel 2 is announced, think I'll hold out to see what that brings

It is well over 1/4 of a year away so no, not really.
Also got £130 off the Pixel XL 128GB (£689.99) - that is the first discount I have ever seen on that model. Given the smaller Pixel 128GB is showing at £699.99, I think that might actually be a mistake.

Bought this for 499 at the weekend. Reckon I could return it and buy it again to get the difference?

Must be worth a punt.
Or buy at £469 and return that one to get £499 refund.

Well I've never seen it drop in price before slit leaves me to believe an announcement might be coming soon , even though yes it won't be released until the end of the year
I think it's just the 32gb versions are on offer, hence the 128gb being dearer than the + 32gb

Carphone Warehouse had £70 off the 32GB Pixel (so £529) some time over Christmas I think, but only for a short time. This is the biggest discount I've seen so far. Just trying decide between this and a Samsung S7, as they are now around the same price...

I've looked at a lot of reviews and both have their pros and cons - which way do you fall ? I've had a Nexus 4 since 2012 so I got very used to regular Android updates and I'm naturally drawn towards stock Android on the Pixel and it's good camera, but the waterproofing, extra screen resolution and useable screen space on the S7 (due to it's physical buttons) and the extra storage via SD are all tipping me towards the S7.

Looks like I've got a bit more time to decide than that - the current '3 day deals' promotion (which the Pixel appears to be a part of) ends tomorrow night (Wednesday 12th July) - there's a countdown timer on their website

I think you kind of answer your own question there. Your needs are what ultimately decide which is the best device, for you. Personally I don't care about waterproofing etc so the Pixel is the phone I would choose, with one of the best cameras and stock android. Hell of a step up from the N4!

What did you expect to happen to this Phone (price-wise that is ... ) more than half a year later?, or .....
It's pointless be able to do any form of correct/favourable comparative comparison on the same 1 phone's price's of more than 6+ month's back? (when an otherwise more expensive price was not only expected, a bit also pretty much assumed too?).
It's a bit different of in the body of the same comparative example yesterday's price's for this phone were rather considerably cheaper than that of today's price's for the same instead?.
Which of course was not the case ...
These current price's reminds me a bit of the Nexus 5 pricing schemes of 3-5 years back also?.
For now, I'm good with my Lenovo P2 thanx. :-)

My HTC10 went for warranty repair to EE a couple of weeks ago and the gits sent me an S7 Edge as they had no HTC10s left. I didn't even bother using it and got a second hand Pixel 128GB instead.
128GB is probably a bit overkill as Google Photos stores Pixel pictures in max resolution for free.
Poor experience on the S6 (bloatware using most of the RAM constantly) was enough to put me off Samsung for life.
That reminds me, better remember to eBay it next time that £1 max fee offer pops up!

Rik was The New Statesman. Yes Minister/PM was Paul Eddington and Nigel Hawthorne. Both brilliant though.

HTC 10 came out last year a few months after the SGS7. I'd owned the phone for 4 months before it started devloping problems with the phone overheating and causing permanent bright spots on the screen. 8 months into ownership and 9 bright spots on the screen, I decided to get it repaired under warranty and they sent me a GS7 Edge instead. Pleaded for ANY phone but that phone but that's all they could offer.
