China Redmi Note 4X is a mess. Originally 4/64GB China Note 4X was Mediatek only whereas 3/32GB was Snapdragon. The Mediatek 4X has a pseudo design. Metal with top/bottom plastic like Snapdragon, but unlike the other Snapdragon RN4, the IR blaster remains in the middle like the original Note 4, which was a key change in housing. They later brought in the China 64GB Note 4X, which comes in Blue only. Some AliExpress sellers stock this. Hi,
Regards dead pixels, has anyone else noticed lots of dead pixels on Xiaomi phones bought from sellers on AliExpress? I say this because at first I didn't notice them on the Redmi Note I got.
I've just noticed that the Redmi 4A I bought looks like it has over 100!
Maybe I'm missing something here. They're fairly visible on a black background but pretty much invisible on anything else. There is literally like a big patch of them at the bottom of the screen left hand side. They're all over the screen
The ones I found on the Redmi Note were scattered but there was a distinctive line of them near the top which is what caught my eye.
Just seems a bit odd that I'd buy two Xiaomi phones and they'd both have the same issue.

there's plenty of info on all these xiaomi phones , i'm slowly learning AFTER reading this thread and all the others, this is MTK Helio X20 Deca-core, suggest you get the snapdragon version
Ali express! No thanks. Not willing to help with getting me refund or a replacement of a xiaomi redmi note 4 with a recognised fault. Just in case anyone is interested the fault is, that the background sound sensor causes interference which results in other person not being able to hear you. This is made even worse when you put the call on speaker. The only way I can have a decent conversation with anyone is when using either a Bluetooth car kit, or Bluetooth headset even the wired headset is very crackly which must be a separate issue.

My experience of xiaomi phone cameras is that they are very capable in good light, certainly better than the SU6.
Have peace of mind at least that you've made the right decision going with a Xiaomi smartphone. I've been really impressed by the overall package, software, quality of the hardware etc. Even if the phone has deadpixels, I'd rather have a Xiaomi phone with deadpixels than a smartphone from some dodgy Chinese upstart like Doogee or Eles**te for example. To be honest the prices here seem too good to be true, I know the Note 4 very well and it's an absolutely solid phone. It's well up there, I honestly think it can compete with the iphone, so £110 is a ridiculously low price for such a package. I'd happily pay VAT on it to be honest. That's the only thing that gets to me about buying direct from China. If there was ever a case for value added tax, it's getting a phone like this for around this price.

Yes, though bear in mind there's effectively no warranty. I have been updating family and friends with Xiaomi phones(7 so far, all are happy with them, oldest is 11 months and no faults-as expected). Xiaomi receive a lot of praise here by people who have them. As noted in my response to you in the Vodafone Smart V8 thread, the Vodafone ZTE Blade a512 is great value for a UK supplied phone with 2 year warranty, particularly if you can buy it without the top up.

Thanks for the reassurance from everyone. I think you may be correct in your assumption that the Global phones to the UK market will be sealed. I only ordered mine after midnight last night and first thing this morning I received a message from Eternal confirming despatch so they had very little time to check the phone unless of course lots were done in advance? I also messaged Eternal asking if the box had been tampered with but have not yet received a reply. I won't lose any sleep over this until it arrives. Does anyone know the usual turnaround from Eternal? When mine turns up I'll try and remember to let those concerned know what state mine arrives in i.e. sealed or not. Perhaps others in a similar position could do the same if theirs arrives earlier than mine?
was that price yesterday as undecided whether to get 32gb or 64gb myself

4 Jul 17#67
Speaking of Eternal, they've made a complete balls up of their listing.
The 64GB version is £130 though if you select the right one.

Yes I would definitely go down the excuse for late dispatch route....
dreadzone101
4 Jul 17#65
I'd be more hesitant to believe any actual testing occurs, if it was said only after being questioned about delay. Similar things have been said by other sellers in the past when members have contacted them about dispatch. See here<< It seems more of an excuse in that scenario but if they do indeed test the quality, I wonder what it actually entails. For the Global Version phones, it is unlikely they'd open the box, test it then reseal. Another hukd member actually received a defective phone from Eternal Team on this previous deal thread<<. A sealed Global Version with faulty touchscreen. So perhaps it's as you suggest and they're checking for a bad batch although other sellers have said the same thing despite nobody having mentioned receiving an unsealed Global Version.
sotomonkey
4 Jul 17#64
Not sure it's generic. The first time it happened it was a reply to me asking why the order was taking so long to dispatch. Interesting I didn't get a message at all when I ordered a Redmi 4A but then I guess I wouldn't have got one if I hadn't asked on the Note 4.

About £170 from Geekbuying's Spanish site. Out of stock in HK (about £150 atm). I paid £128 about 3 weeks ago- think they had the wrong price.
dreadzone101
4 Jul 17#62
I'd assume it's a generic message which isn't applicable to Global Version. They sell a lot of China market version phones which would need to be opened in order to install Global ROM. The China equivalent of RN4 Global Version is the RN4X. In Eternal Team's Note 4X with Global ROM listing<< they do not state anywhere that it is installed by them. If you look at the MC Store Note 4X listing<< it says "We need to open the box to install the official global ROM and Google play before delivery". Likewise Dreami Note 4X listing<< also indicates how it will be opened. So Eternal Team probably just explain it as being due to testing, when it's likely only to install Global ROM on China market phones which won't be the same for Global Version since they'd be sealed with Global ROM already pre-installed. I don't think anyone on hukd who has bought Global Version from any store has commented saying theirs arrived unsealed.
sotomonkey
4 Jul 17#61
Yeah it was Eternal who I ordered the faulty one from it appears. Same model. I wouldn't worry too much, it's always a risk buying smartphones like this. It's not like the phone I bought doesn't work, it just has an incredibly high number of dead pixels. Was very surprised and didn't notice it at first.
The cynic in me thinks that they're testing them because they know they're from a dodgy batch, so just making sure they work. Maybe?

dreadzone101
4 Jul 17#58
The Blue Snapdragon Note 4X is a China market only so it will be pre-installed with China ROM therefore having Global ROM means it is installed by the seller. The Snapdragon Redmi Note 4 uses the same ROM as the Snapdragon Redmi Note 4X so the Global ROM for it has been available since the Indian and Global Version RN4 release. Here is Fantacy's listing<< for the same phone which says in the description "We will install Global Official Rom of Note 4 into Redmi Note 4X ,The device model number will appear Redmi Note 4 instead of Redmi Note 4X".

If you mean this listing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122502010983 then it's different especially if you bought the £186 64GB version. It's the China Note 4X. The 32GB is Snapdragon and 64GB is Mediatek which is mentioned in the description. The Redmi Note 4 Global Version in this deal is Snapdragon for both 32GB and 64GB. The Note 4X in that eBay listing will also lack B20 and since it mentions Global ROM and Play Store it will be unsealed.

The Note 4 and the Note 4X are interchangeable, both exist In mediatek and snapdragon versions, in different markets. It doesn't change the fact that 625 variant exists in Global, Chinese and Indian markets each with diff frequencies, ram/storage and colours.

That's not correct at all, there are also Indian and Chinese models with the 625, both supporting different frequencies to each other and to the Global, so even ignoring the ram/storage amounts there are at least 3 variants.

Pro and Prime are often used by AliExpress sellers to distinguish it from a lower or previous models. In the past Xiaomi have used Pro and Prime in official naming but for Redmi Note 4, there is no Pro or Prime. Likewise for the Redmi Note 3. However the Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon was widely accepted as being called Redmi Note 3 Pro even though this was not official Xiaomi naming. I assume Eternal Team have used "Pro" to denote it is the Snapdragon and not the original Mediatek Redmi Note 4. For "Prime", this has been used in the past to denote a higher storage option. So their 64GB listing says Prime whereas their 32GB listing does not. This varies from seller to seller though so naming convention can vary. Best to just look for at specs as there are about 10 different Redmi Note 4/4X without taking into account the different storage variants. Snapdragon + B20 + called Redmi Note 4 = Global Version.
