All the reviews state 4GB RAM? A good deal for the spec (although I avoid MTK processors after having major sat nav problems in my elephone p6000) but when it comes to reputable/major brands Xiaomi is right up there and not sure that you can say the same about Vernee. If it was cheaper than the Xiaomi then OK...but it isn't.

BEWARE Ali-Express. I bought near identical phone two months ago as posted on HotUKDeals... Phone defective and should never have left the factory! Near 5 hours spent communicating with uncooperative Ali Express 'Customer Services' who have done nothing to resolve the problem. I'm now £120 out of pocket. It is impossible to contact senior managers or escalate a complaint. Because this is not a UK business there is no way of getting a refund because there is no consumer protection in the event of a problem.
bellboys
1 Jul 171#49
You won't see it if used in conjunction with a case! I always use MOFI flip cases as they have impregnated steel in the flip for extra screen protection. I certainly wouldn't use a Xiaomi without using tempered glass.
In this case the seller does seem to be offering a replacement guarantee from TWG group ... is that an good?

If I already owned a Note Pro 3 I wouldn't personally buy this phone. I would 100% buy this phone otherwise. Basically Xiaomi should've stuck a SD652 cpu in it and made improvements on the 16MP camera (everyone's biggest gripe). Then logically that would've been my next phone.

To be fair I've ordered loads of items from Aliexpress and this is the only time I've encountered a problem (and it isn't a big one) so it won't put me off. You appear to have had a particularly bad experience which IME is not typical. Plus surely your resolution here will be provided by your credit card company? Won't it?

1 Jul 174#120
You warned about AliExpress because you received a defective phone but you did not mention which store you purchased from. AliExpress are a marketplace. Was the phone you purchased from the exact same store as this deal? If not, how is your experience "somewhat prophetic" of AliExpress when they are neither in charge of shipping items sold by the countless different stores, nor have control over the prices which the sellers set?
You pay Ali-Express as an intermediary, regardless of the store. They take their cut and pass on rest on to the supplier. The complaints process is with Ali-Express (not the supplier) as you paid them. So it really doesn't matter much which 'store/supplier' in the market place you use. In a way, you put you're finger on the crucial issue when you said Ali Express have 'no control',in this case over the shipping or prices.
damadgeruk
1 Jul 17#123
I get that you are trying to help though you omitted marketplace with regards to Amazon as direct Amazon sales are covered...
Amazon is another firm where Section 75 may not apply. Shoppers who buy items on a credit card from third-party suppliers on the online marketplace will not be covered. If you buy directly from Amazon then you could make a claim.
I've yet to experience aliexpress issues though issues exist with all suppliers.
Bear.Bargains
1 Jul 17#124
Any recommendations of where to buy other than Ali Express?
Price seems to be £137.15 for the gold colour which I think is still not bad but at £110 it was a no brainer.
So then do you think eBay also have a "crucial issue" because they also neither ship or price items? Your comments about AliExpress due your experience would be like complaining about eBay because a seller sent you a faulty item and then confirming your views about eBay because a different seller mispriced their listing. "Xiaomi Online Store" are one of the most well known of all the Xiaomi sellers on AliExpress. They have been posted lots of times in the past on HUKD and many members have bought and received phones from them without any issues. But you're implying your experience of buying a different phone from a (different?) seller must be more indicative of what people will experience if buying from this store or using AliExpress in general? How does which store/supplier not matter? If you bought from eBay from a seller with <100 feedback thats <80% positive and got stung, would you warn people about buying from eBay regardless of seller?

Guessing you don't spend much time here, pricing errors occur frequently large UK companies. Xiaomi do not sell directly through aliexpress, xiaomi online store is not an official outlet. You are correct that if Amazon supply the item it is covered by Section 75 re Credit Card Purchases, if it's an affiliate supplier it most likely is not. Another significant difference is you are dealing with Amazon UK and UK companies so you have consumer protection rights i.e. 'Sale of Goods Act' . With Chinese companies like Ali Express you don't. Your issue is related to what happens if something goes wrong yet in your earlier message, you said: "This time it was just a pricing error - next time it maybe a faulty phone and no money back, as it was in my case". It seems like you're implying that because you received a defective phone and there was a misprice for a phone from a different seller, that anyone buying from AliExpress regardless of the seller, will face issues. You said "I am simply trying to be helpful by pointing out an important area which few understand or appreciate until something goes wrong." but it looks more like you've created an account specifically to prevent people from using AliExpress and have suggested that a misprice from a different seller means your criticism is correct and because of it, what happened to you might happen to others which to me just seems like confirmation bias and cynicism.

You say I am implying 'anyone buying from AliExpress regardless of the seller, will face issues'. I have not implied that at all. I am highlighting the differences of buying from a Chinese or other marketplace if issues arise. In fact I said many have a positive experience of buying. Many believe they have some protection if they buy by credit card. I have simply pointed out why that is not the case and that the consumer protections that apply to UK suppliers do not apply if you buy overseas as far as I am aware. Buying direct from the supplier an should give you Credit Card protection (see telegraph article). If this is not factually correct I will amend.

Late to the show, but.....
My experiences with ALiExpress have been 99% favourable, only two return attempts for fake/faulty goods have not gone my way.
One of those was due to deliberate bad faith by the seller - who agreed to the return and replacement of fake goods, then refused to collect them from the Chinese customs warehouse, and failed to send or refund - AE closed his account.
The other was for an Umi phone that broke within 30 minutes of unsealing the box, with the issue here being that the phone was a replacement for another Umi phone that had arrived broken; that again isnt AE's fault, but the sellers - in this case Umi themselves, as I bought it from the official Umi shop.
EVERY other issue AE have resolved in my favour; from cotton baby clothes advertised as Silk, to getting sent the wrong product, or the product never arriving (or arriving very late).
I had a mass order through AE that I ordered on the 17th (various water cooling kit); most of it arrived the beginning of this week, and the last item was due on Thursday - although the PO messed up and I had to go collect it Saturday.
So it took 12 days for the slowest items to arrive. Yes, some sellers are a lot slower, but they are learning, gone are the days when they would sit on your order for 3 weeks before dispatching it.

Geekbuying take the shown £ sum; no conversions, no charges, so what you see is taken. They ship by NL post which means no tax as it is "beatified" in Holland (SA used to have department of "beatification" in the days when thing could not be legally sold to them).
You made a connection between your experience with a seller and a misprice from another seller and said your comments of receiving a defective phone were "somewhat prophetic" even though there is no connection between the 2 incidences given that AliExpress neither ship or price items. You said to Google "AliExpress complaint" to see the scale of the problem and then suggested that this time it was misprice but that next time it could be what you experienced, which to me seems more implicative of things going wrong rather than a case of highlighting differences if issues arise.
My initial reply was not regarding credit cards but it does not appear that you yourself have been unable to claim via credit card and your comments seem to go back and forth between certainty and uncertainty regarding the matter. http://uk.creditcards.com/credit-card-news/section-75-third-parties.php "The invalidity of Section 75 due to third party involvement is a complex and technical distinction that the regulator, credit card issuers and consumer groups have not been able to fully clarify". I can't find any cases online of AliExpress users having been denied CC S75 so it is more of an assumption on the basis that AliExpress are not the supplier. However if it was a simple case of any 3rd party involvement means no CC S75 then no-one on eBay has CC protection since eBay are not the supplier.

Readers made aware of potential issues re Credit Card Protection (as summarised in the Telegraph article and elsewhere), that UK consumer rights don't apply when purchasing overseas, potential for import duty charges and the issues others have experienced trying to resolve problems with Ali-Express (as reported on other sites) can do their own due diligence and make an informed decision. Point 5 in this article is a good summary http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/buy-from-china-aliexpress
FYI - eBay has PayPal protection and most companies on there are UK based so are subject to relevant section of 'Sale of Goods Act' Legislation and consumer protection and 14 days to return the item if you don't want it.

2 Jul 17#161
Depends how old the G4 is! They do experience boot loop problems. I'm assuming no warranty but if you are harder than your mate getting your money back should be no problem cheeky The G4 has a far better camera and removeable battery, better SOC, 'better' screen but less RAM & memory. Difficult one....
It came out in November, the only extra releases were the 3GB/32GB Global version that came out around February and then the 4GB/64GB version that came out in April, so it's been out at least 8 months now. Anyway I'm very happy with mine after having it for a month or two.

That's why I always recommend MOFI flip cases - they have impregnated steel in the part that covers the screen. Cheap as chips as well direct from China. Combine it with a tempered glass screen protector and you're good to go...

A bit of a nightmare getting the right one, isn't? Help could be at hand, though. I ordered a MOFI case for my DIL's 3gb/32GB Global Version and it came late today so she will hopefully be trying it tomorrow so I will report back and provide the link if it is indeed the correct one...
They also have some listed under Redmi Note 4X, so just confirm it's for the snapdragon one (it should be).
All the Snapdragons use the same screen regardless of the ram/storage so you just need to confirm it works for that.

They are also selling via the Spanish warehouse

I guess it will but as its listed on Aliexpress only for the 3GB 32GB version I want to be sure that both phones are exactly the same on the outside. Any help gratefully received.

They also have some listed under Redmi Note 4X, so just confirm it's for the snapdragon one (it should be).
All the Snapdragons use the same screen regardless of the ram/storage so you just need to confirm it works for that.
cheers guys
PS Yes, it's exactly the same model in the OP but at a 'real' price! :sunglasses:
