This seems a really good deal for August school holidays, 2 weeks with direct flights (with meals and luggage), car hire and hotel. The flights alone with luggage and meals are more than this. The Rosen Inn is the accommodation. For around £20pp you can stay at THE AVANTI RESORT which does have slightly better reviews if that appeals more.

Not a bad deal, But I will never use Thomson as we ( family of 4 ) booked with them last year, & because we didn't pay the expensive pre booked seats my wife & daughter (3 yrs) were seated at the front and me and my son were 2 aisles apart, when we checked in they said that the cabin staff would be able to seat us together ( but they blamed the check in personnel ) on the way back it was the same only because someone agreed to switch with my son (12 yrs) that me & him could sit together, but like before my wife & daughter were on the other side! Surely Thomson should seat families together rather than charge extremely high for the seating options! As long haul holidays are very expensive anyway! Sorry for the rant

Stayed in the Rosen Inn, International in August last year.
Smack bang central on iDrive. I wouldn't pay for the breakfast, there are a number of small supermarkets within walking distance where you can stock up on American treats. I also wouldn't have the car. The hotel provides a shuttle to Universal (10mins), and I would recommend buying an iTrolley bus pass for the week (takes you to the top and bottom of iDrive, where SeaWorld / Aquatica is).
Very good price

Voted hot because it's cheap for August but it's £1K more than i would personally spend for 2 weeks (including fines).

(a) what fines - this is in the school holidays ?
(b) good luck finding any semi-decent holiday in mid-August for 2 weeks for 4 people for £2.5k net alone £1.5k

It was only when I was asked last night to try and find a two week Florida holiday for the school holidays that I realised how expensive it was to DIY together a package for July/August and by time you'd found direct flights, accommodation and car hire these couple of deals seemed significantly cheaper than anything else. Out of school holidays of course the price drops massively, whether it's Florida or anywhere else!

As a note, rather than the 'free' hire car with required additional insurance it may be cheaper to hire separately.

Yes, if you want additional insurance look at places that cover the excess insurance.

Cheap for hotels and flights. But realistically you'll need double the amount of this deal as everything in Florida is $$$$

Have you ever been? Florida can be very cheap for shopping and clothes. Unless you eating and staying at Disney so I have to disagree with your comment.

Would imagine that it's a "continental" style breakfast? (last time I stayed in a motel/hotel over there, breakfast was coffee and doughnuts )

Yep, exactly! You can't put it together any cheaper with the hotel and car hire.

Been Florida 3 times ,I would say a car is a must rather than relying on shuttles and buses plus plenty to see in Florida other than parks.

It's a full brekkie, cooked and cold items both at the Rosen Inn properties. Mickey Mouse waffles and all!
OP I think this is a great deal for August. I don't have kids but am off to Orlando this year so I know how pricey it is.

We stayed in this hotel last year in September. It was infested with cockroaches - one fell on me while I was walking out the door. Wouldn't say it was one of the better hotels I've stayed in but if you don't mind sharing your room...

Funnily enough I'm going to Florida for these dates to the sister hotel. Stayed in this one the last 2 times and location is fantastic. 3rd time in 4 years. First time through Thomson. Low cost holidays before.
Car hire is pointless as top up insurance is 340 quid. From personal experience you can just uber everything. We spent about 100 quid for 2 weeks on uber. Alongside about 15 dollars each for a 2 week itrolley pass. Was far far better than thinking about parking costs and potential issues that could happen.
This time we are going with the car as we are doing space centre and couple days in Miami but really isn't needed if you are doing the main parks and sticking around I trolley. Uber all the way. I cannot see how you would spend more than the additional insurance without considering fuel.

Do a comparison on this website for excess hire insurance and then compare prices, cashback etc etc.
stayed here when we went last year - good hotel nice location middle between disney and universal.
only issue here tickets are like $500 dollars for 5 park (not disney) and around the same again for disney parks...

We went to Florida last September and although the car was not essential it did make our holiday so much more enjoyable. We drove out to siesta keys when the weather was forecasted to be very bad in Orlando and we had a beautiful day on the beach. We also used it to go to bushe gardens and to make our way down to "wicked willies" for a airboat ride and to see the alligators and some eagles in their natural habitat. In fact we used it a lot which I didn't think I would. I found the whole experience enjoyable.
The only times we didn't use the car was to go to the parks in Orlando because Uber was cheaper than the car park fees. We used bugjet car hire and the airport experience was an eye opener with the pushy insurance sale batter. We took out a separate insurance to cover any insurance excess.

To be fair your point (b) is rather subjective , there are plenty of deals for that kind of money on a room only / self catering holiday (Quick 2 minute search on Thomson brought up over 20 all between £1500 and £2500) ...... just not to Florida , lol

What i meant was i pay £1.5K including fines in term time, 2 weeks for 2A&2C at the Rosen Pointe in May this year with Thomas Cook cost us £1400 (could have booked a cheaper hotel for £1050). Travelling to Orlando in August is a rip off due to the flight costs, the hotels are pretty cheap as it's not the best time to visit (very hot and humid). We always pay around this price in April/May.

Price up any holiday outside of school time and you'll pay less, nothing new there.

I go all the time and i only got back on the 16th July on my most recent trip. Florida is not cheap for shopping or clothes, i found very few bargains at 4th July sales and shopping in walmart/publix to a supermarket here is so much more expensive for most food items
